Book excerpt: Le but de cette thèse est d'apporter une contribution à la modélisation numérique par la méthode des éléments finis de machines à réluctance variable (MRV), concevoir leurs formes, et développer des lois de commande non linéaires pour leurs optimisations et leurs contrôles. La première partie de cette étude concerne l'algorithme de couplage multiphysique du phénomène électromagnétique, de l'équation mécanique du rotor et l'équation des déformations élastiques du stator. Elle met surtout l'accent sur le calcul des pertes dues aux courants de Foucault et aux pertes dues à d'hystérésis en s'appuyant sur le modèle de Preisach. Après avoir mis en place les techniques nécessaires pour une modélisation performante et précise des MRV, ainsi que le couplage simultané des lois physiques nécessaires qui s'y appliquent, nous développons une nouvelle forme géométrique des MRV afin de maximiser l'accélération du rotor. L'objectif est de satisfaire l'industrie d'usinage à très grande vitesse. Cette thèse traite aussi l'optimisation multiobjectif des MRV. Il s'agit de maximiser l'énergie fournie par la machine tout en minimisant les pertes par effet Joule. Ce problème a été résolu par la méthode classique de la théorie du contrôle optimal et la solution peut être implantée à l'aide d'une méthode de tir. L'implantation de ces lois de commande nécessite la mesure en ligne de toutes les variables d'état, ce qui n'est pas toujours possible. Nous avons donc élaboré un observateur d'intervalles qui permet d'estimer l'état de la partie mécanique de notre système en présence d'un couple de charge considéré comme une entrée inconnue
