Book excerpt: Nos travaux s’inscrivent dans le cadre du programme de recherche interrégional Bretagne-Pays de la Loire intitulé : « Matériaux composites silicium poreux-polymères présentant des propriétés d'optique non linéaire en vue d'applications en télécommunications et capteurs ». L’objectif de ce programme est l’élaboration et la caractérisation d’un matériau composite silicium poreux-polymère doté de propriétés optiques non-linéaires. L’élaboration des échantillon de silicium poreux a été effectué au Laboratoire d’optronique de Lannion. Les travaux de thèse ont porté sur la caractérisation optique d’échantillons de silicium poreux et de silice poreuse non remplis ainsi que de matériaux composites obtenus en introduisant différents polymères et molécules dans les pores. Les expériences ont été réalisées au sein de deux laboratoires, le Laboratoire de Physique de L’Etat condensé de l’Université du Maine (LPEC) et le Laboratoire des Propriétés Optiques des Matériaux et Applications d’Angers (POMA). Au LPEC, nos études avaient pour but le développement de techniques permettant l’étude du remplissage, la détermination des épaisseurs et les propriétés optiques linéaires des échantillons. Ainsi, l’une des techniques basée sur l’utilisation d’un spectromètre Raman couplé avec un dispositif de translation motorisé, nous a permis d’étudier l’homogénéité du remplissage de monocouches ainsi que de bicouches remplies avec différents polymères et molécules tel que le DR1, et le PPV. Le remplissage avec le DR1 a été effectué à Lannion alors que le remplissage avec le PPV a été réalisé à l’institut des matériaux de Nantes. D’autre part nous avons mis au point une technique interférométrique qui nous a permis de déterminer les l’indices de réfraction, les coefficients d’extinction et les épaisseurs des échantillons précédents avec une grande précision. Pour ce faire, nous avons développé un programme d’analyse qui permet d’effectuer des régressions sur les données expérimentales. Parallèlement, nous avons étudié les propriétés d’optique non-linéaire des échantillons précédents en utilisant la technique de I-Scan mise au point au POMA d’Angers. Cette technique Nous a permis de montrer que les indices non-linéaires des échantillons analysés étaient 103 fois plus grands que celui du silicium massif.
