As transformações na "economia interna" daquela disciplina emergem da análise que o autor faz da produção e experiência de políticos, intelectuais, inspetores e professores escolares. O resultado é a captura de um plano de produção, circulação, apropriação e uso de ideias, preceitos, princípios, exercícios que demarcavam o lugar de nascimento do que viria a ser chamado Educação Física nos currículos escolares desde então.
