Book Synopsis Contracting Out for Human Services by : Ruth H. De Hoog
Download or read book Contracting Out for Human Services written by Ruth H. De Hoog and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1985-06-30 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contracting out for services has become a popular technique in government's perennial quest to cut spending. Yet seldom has the practice been examined from any but the public choice approach. This book explores contracting out in the important area of human services, covering the critical conditions of contracting and the vital points of politics, procedures, service quality, and effectiveness. In doing so, DeHoog uses three theoretical perspectives drawn from social science traditions: the economic perspective of market imperfections, the political perspective of cooptation, and the interdisciplinary perspective of organizational decision-making. To evaluate the perspectives and their predictions in the human services, DeHoog has examined contracting in social services (Title XX) and employment and training programs, (CETA), primarily through in-depth interviews with participants.

Book Synopsis International Economic Organizations in the International Legal Process by : Voitovich
Download or read book International Economic Organizations in the International Legal Process written by Voitovich and published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. This book was released on 2023-08-28 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Voitovich presents a clear and lucid discussion of the manner and form in which international economic organizations (IEOs) participate in two main stages of the international legal process: law making and law implementation. The book is based on normative instruments and fragments of practice of about fifty IEOs. In order to ensure a proper and timely realization of their normative acts, IEOs exercise a number of law implementing functions which are subject to a thorough comparative examination. The author concludes that existing IEOs, not being ideal institutional models, possess a sufficient arsenal of law implementing instruments to make a considerable impact on the international legal regulations in the economic field. The book will be of interest to academics and economic political scientists.

Book Synopsis Business Lease Renewals by : Eric Shapiro
Download or read book Business Lease Renewals written by Eric Shapiro and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2013-10-11 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every surveyor, property manager and lawyer who deals with commercial property needs to have a thorough knowledge of Part II of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, which governs the rights of business tenants to obtain renewals of their leases. A maze of complex and carefully interlocking provisions, the Act was radically amended by a Regulatory Reform Order as from 1 June 2004. These changes include: •widening the scope of protection •removing traps for tenants such as the counter-notice •changing the rules about court applications •amending the basis of assessing interim rent •imposing tougher requirements for giving information •creating new procedures for contracting out of the Act •a raft of new prescribed forms This new book gives a clear explanation of the workings of the amended Act, keeping the framework in view while delving into the detail whenever needed. The old law is included for those situations where it may still be relevant. Written by a property lawyer assisted by a chartered surveyor and a property litigator, this publication, in addition to setting out the law, gives detailed guidance on practice for surveyors, managers, valuers, expert witnesses and property lawyers.
