I am confronted by challenges in my thoughts, efforts, and dreams. If any of these phrases have risen in you heart and mind, it's time to be encouraged! Messages of Encouragement provide inspirational words and stories of triumph over trials to uplift every reader. Our busy, complicated lives sometimes send us through situations - some small, some large - that challenges our faith, shake our courage, and threaten our strength. It may all seem like more than one heart can handle. But be encouraged! As the old saying goes, "What one heart cannot bear alone, a hundred loving hearts can bear with faith." ( Unity- Charles and Myrtle Fillmore). Challenges can turn into triumphs as Mark 11:24 states, "Therefore I say unto you, "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye received them, and ye shall have them" (KJV).

Book excerpt: AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A REESE'S BOOK CLUB PICK Tired, stressed, and in need of more help from your partner? Imagine running your household (and life!) in a new way... It started with the Sh*t I Do List. Tired of being the “shefault” parent responsible for all aspects of her busy household, Eve Rodsky counted up all the unpaid, invisible work she was doing for her family—and then sent that list to her husband, asking for things to change. His response was...underwhelming. Rodsky realized that simply identifying the issue of unequal labor on the home front wasn't enough: She needed a solution to this universal problem. Her sanity, identity, career, and marriage depended on it. The result is Fair Play: a time- and anxiety-saving system that offers couples a completely new way to divvy up domestic responsibilities. Rodsky interviewed more than five hundred men and women from all walks of life to figure out what the invisible work in a family actually entails and how to get it all done efficiently. With 4 easy-to-follow rules, 100 household tasks, and a series of conversation starters for you and your partner, Fair Play helps you prioritize what's important to your family and who should take the lead on every chore, from laundry to homework to dinner. “Winning” this game means rebalancing your home life, reigniting your relationship with your significant other, and reclaiming your Unicorn Space—the time to develop the skills and passions that keep you interested and interesting. Stop drowning in to-dos and lose some of that invisible workload that's pulling you down. Are you ready to try Fair Play? Let's deal you in.

Book excerpt: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). The Apologies from a Repentant Christian series is the continuing story of one woman’s transformation from a hopeless sinner to a Christ-follower. Through surrender, Donna L. Young had found infinite peace, joy, and security, which can only come from a deep-seated devotion to God’s only Son, Jesus Christ. This is her pilgrim journey. Part I tells of an unrepentant sinner who surrendered her heart to God, embraced His forgiveness for her sins, and received her new identity in Christ. Part II tells about the next stage of this Christian’s walk: a new believer faces rejection, spiritual battles and learns how to live in a corrupted temple of flesh. Part III gives enlightenment about what happens when faithful believers set aside their doubts and fears and submit each moment of every day in fullness, honor, and obedience to the will of God. Not only does God keep His promise to do “greater things” through us by offering a suffering world the excitement of hope, but our gracious LORD holds our hand and makes sure that we too feel loved, every step along ‘The Way.’

He died at the scene. Overcome by grief, Charmaine felt the need to find Carter in the weeks and months following his death. She began a frantic search for answers to her questions about what happens after death and where Carter is now. She needed to know that he was alright. Gradually, she became aware of strange occurrences. She smelled Carter’s scent at various times. She noticed the number six, Carter’s lucky number, showing up in unexpected places. Text messages from Carter were appearing on his friends’ phones. Then one night Charmaine received a written message from Carter. Through the help of meditation and focus, Charmaine began to communicate with Carter in spirit. Over time and with practice, their communication strengthened and Carter’s spirit communicated to Charmaine wisdom, truths, and insights about life and what comes after death. Encouraged and hopeful, Charmaine has reconnected with her son in spirit. She has been able to encourage and support her family as well as others in similar situations. Carter’s words to Charmaine, “I am more alive than anyone can imagine,” have assuaged her grief and have her thirsting for more contact with her son. Love You Mom is a deeply personal, beautiful interaction between mother and son that brings meaning to life and healing to the soul.

Book excerpt: In this updated and revised edition of Just Passing Through: A German-American Family Saga, first published in 2011, the author tells the story of several generations of his unique but dysfunctional family spanning over a hundred years including the two world wars. The book centers on the author’s mother, whom her children called Mutti, and her ordeal during the Nazi era for having been married to a Jew, the son of prosperous Frankfurt business owners, with whom she had two children. With anti-Semitism on the rise in Germany, her husband decided to emigrate to America but Mutti chose to remain behind to take care of her ailing father. The couple had an amicable divorce and while her ex-husband took their son with him, their daughter remained with Mutti in Germany. Under the Nuremberg Laws of 1935, mother and daughter now found themselves classified as non-Aryans which meant that Mutti could not remarry while their teenage daughter, being half Jewish, was put in dire jeopardy of her life. At this point Mutti’s older brother, himself a dedicated National Socialist, proposed an unconventional solution that ensured her survival. Following his advice, she had more children, fathered by so-called Aryans, who were eventually all brought to America. The book follows the lives of the five siblings, all half-brothers and half-sisters, and their difficult relationships with each other as each seeks to achieve his or her version of the American Dream.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A gritty, wonderfully honest investigation of life in an urban American high school in the 21st Century.” —Jay Mathews, Washington Post education columnist Searching for Hope is a gripping account of life in a once-great high school in a rough Indianapolis neighborhood. Granted unfiltered access to Manual High throughout an entire school year, award-winning journalist Matthew Tully tells the complex story of the everyday drama, failures, and triumphs in one of the nation’s many troubled urban public high schools. He walks readers into classrooms, offices, and hallways, painting a vivid picture of the profound academic problems, deep frustrations, and apathy that absorb and sometimes consume students, teachers, and administrators. Yet this intimate view also reveals the hopes, dreams, and untapped talents of some amazing individuals. Providing insights into the challenges confronting those who seek to improve the quality of America’s schools, Tully argues that school leaders and policy makers must rally communities to heartfelt engagement with their schools if the crippling social and economic threats to cities such as Indianapolis are to be averted. “[W]hile the book offers no unfamiliar insight into the plight of urban schools, it does give a powerful, ultimately genuine voice to the complicated, imperfect individuals whose victories and hopes are often unreported.” —Publishers Weekly “[T]his keen observation of teens at a troubled high school makes for fascinating reading.” —Library Journal

Book excerpt: In Craig Stewart’s, One Thing for Certain, Two Things for Sure he reminds us that there are no mistakes or accidents in life—that everything happens as it should. Through the dissolution of a sordid affair with a married man, friendships, and personal setbacks he teaches us the art of letting go, and adapting to whatever comes our way. Stewart allows us, the reader, an intimate look into his personal life through stories that center on dating, love, fear, fate and destiny. “I hope my story, these words, will help navigate the lives of men and women everywhere.” Craig Stewart’s groundbreaking debut memoir, Words Never Spoken transcended race, gender and sexuality. Dubbed a literary piece of artwork, Words Never Spoken gave voice to men and women who are conflicted sexually, and frustrated by the complexities of being gay, bisexual or trans. Stewart returns with the long awaited sequel, One Thing for Certain, Two Things for Sure, A Memoir continued. “I promised myself years ago that I wouldn’t be the kind of writer, artist, who puts out a project because people want to hear more from me. Rather, I’d be the kind of artist that only puts out a work because I have something to say, and I’ve kept that promise.” www.CraigTheWriterStewart.com
