This book was released on 2017-06-01 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of Acetaldehyde production from acetylene The process examined is a typical vapor phase acetylene hydration over solid catalyst. In this process, steam is generated and mixed with acetylene. The gaseous stream is fed to fixed bed reactors in parallel, where acetylene is hydrated to form acetaldehyde. The excess of water in the reactor product is partially condensed and returned to the reactor. The gaseous stream is transferred to distillation units that recover unreacted acetylene for reuse and generate the purified acetaldehyde product. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): US Patent 3291839, issued to Phillips Petroleum in 1966 Keywords: Ethanal, Vapor Phase Acetylene Hydration, Cadmium Phosphate - Calcium Phosphate Catalyst

Right and left columns containing synopsis of the main text and statistical data, and numerous fold-out flow diagrams ensure optimal didactic presentation of complex chemical processes. The translation into eight languages, the four German and three English editions clearly evidence the popularity of this book. '... it is where I look first to get a quick overview of the manufacturing process of a product... Weissermel/Arpe has been serving me for years as an indispensable reference work.' (Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für Physikalische Chemie) 'Whether student or scientist, theorist or practician - everyboby interested in industrial organic chemistry will appreciate this work.' (farbe + lack) '...it should be ready to hand to every chemist or process engineer envolved directly or indirectly with industrial organic chemistry . It should be in the hand of every higher-graduate student, especially if chemical technology is not part of the study, like in many college universities...' (Tenside-Surfactants-Detergents)

Book Synopsis Survey of Industrial Chemistry by : Philip J. Chenier
Download or read book Survey of Industrial Chemistry written by Philip J. Chenier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Survey of Industrial Chemistry arose from a need for a basic text dealing with industrial chemistry for use in a one semester, three-credit senior level course taught at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This edition covers all important areas of the chemical industry, yet it is reasonable that it can be covered in 40 hours of lecture. Also an excellent resource and reference for persons working in the chemical and related industries, it has sections on all important technologies used by these industries: a one-step source to answer most questions on practical, applied chemistry. Young scientists and engineers just entering the workforce will find it especially useful as a readily available handbook to prepare them for a type of chemistry quite different than they have seen in their traditional coursework, whether graduate or undergraduate.

This book was released on 2004-01-27 with total page 886 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifth edition of the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology builds upon the solid foundation of the previous editions, which have proven to be a mainstay for chemists, biochemists, and engineers at academic, industrial, and government institutions since publication of the first edition in 1949. The new edition includes necessary adjustments and modernisation of the content to reflect changes and developments in chemical technology. Presenting a wide scope of articles on chemical substances, properties, manufacturing, and uses; on industrial processes, unit operations in chemical engineering; and on fundamentals and scientific subjects related to the field. The Encyclopedia describes established technology along with cutting edge topics of interest in the wide field of chemical technology, whilst uniquely providing the necessary perspective and insight into pertinent aspects, rather than merely presenting information. * Set begins publication in March 2004 * Over 1000 articles in 27 volumes * More than 600 new or updated articles Reviews from the previous edition: "The most indispensable reference in the English language on all aspects of chemical technology...the best reference of its kind". Chemical Engineering News, 1992 "Overall, ECT is well written and cleanly edited, and no library claiming to be a useful resource for chemical engineering professionals should be without it." Nicholas Basta, Chemical Engineering, December 1992

Book Synopsis Introduction to Chemical Engineering Computing by : Bruce A. Finlayson
Download or read book Introduction to Chemical Engineering Computing written by Bruce A. Finlayson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-07-31 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Step-by-step instructions enable chemical engineers to master key software programs and solve complex problems Today, both students and professionals in chemical engineering must solve increasingly complex problems dealing with refineries, fuel cells, microreactors, and pharmaceutical plants, to name a few. With this book as their guide, readers learn to solve these problems using their computers and Excel®, MATLAB, Aspen Plus, and COMSOL Multiphysics. Moreover, they learn how to check their solutions and validate their results to make sure they have solved the problems correctly. Now in its Second Edition, Introduction to Chemical Engineering Computing is based on the author's firsthand teaching experience. As a result, the emphasis is on problem solving. Simple introductions help readers become conversant with each program and then tackle a broad range of problems in chemical engineering, including: Equations of state Chemical reaction equilibria Mass balances with recycle streams Thermodynamics and simulation of mass transfer equipment Process simulation Fluid flow in two and three dimensions All the chapters contain clear instructions, figures, and examples to guide readers through all the programs and types of chemical engineering problems. Problems at the end of each chapter, ranging from simple to difficult, allow readers to gradually build their skills, whether they solve the problems themselves or in teams. In addition, the book's accompanying website lists the core principles learned from each problem, both from a chemical engineering and a computational perspective. Covering a broad range of disciplines and problems within chemical engineering, Introduction to Chemical Engineering Computing is recommended for both undergraduate and graduate students as well as practicing engineers who want to know how to choose the right computer software program and tackle almost any chemical engineering problem.
