Qualifié de processus des plus ambitieux jamais réalisé dans le domaine de l'enseignement supérieur européen, son objectif vise à instaurer une harmonisation des diplômes européens de l'enseignement supérieur, afin de rendre comparables et compatibles les systèmes nationaux de ces Etats sur la base du LMD.Initié dans le cadre d'un processus intergouvernemental, sur une base volontariste d'Etats désireux d'intégrer cet espace européen de l'enseignement supérieur prévu pour 2010, ce processus qui a tenu à l'écart la Commission européenne, du moins un temps, rassemble plus de 47 Etats signataires aujourd'hui ; près de la moitié sont des Etats extra-communautaires.L'objectif de cette étude est d'analyser le rôle et le degré de contribution de la France, et d'acteurs français au travers de la politique française menée dans ce domaine depuis la fin des années 1960, à nos jours.Une étude de cas spécifique à la France, nous permettra de nous interroger sur la place de la France dans le processus de Bologne, en présentant un état des lieux des forces et des faiblesses de la France dans le cadre de l'application de ce processus.

How do we explain the fact that neoliberalism has emerged from the crisis strengthened? When it broke, a number of the most prominent economists hastened to announce the 'death' of neoliberalism. They regarded the pursuit of neoliberal policy as the fruit of dogmatism. For Pierre Dardot and Christian Laval, neoliberalism is no mere dogma. Supported by powerful oligarchies, it is a veritable politico-institutional system that obeys a logic of self-reinforcement. Far from representing a break, crisis has become a formidably effective mode of government. In showing how this system crystallized and solidified, the book explains that the neoliberal straitjacket has succeeded in preventing any course correction by progressively deactivating democracy. Increasing the disarray and demobilization, the so-called 'governmental' Left has actively helped strengthen this oligarchical logic. The latter could lead to a definitive exit from democracy in favour of expertocratic governance, free of any control. However, nothing has been decided yet. The revival of democratic activity, which we see emerging in the political movements and experiments of recent years, is a sign that the political confrontation with the neoliberal system and the oligarchical bloc has already begun.

Ordinary citizens from very different social backgrounds and professions were asked a range of open-ended questions, allowing them to express themselves freely. There have been few qualitative surveys on ordinary citizens views of European integration, and none on this scale. The resulting picture is very different from the self-evident assumptions of many current studies on European opinions. The book stresses the great diversity, ambiguity, and complexity of European attitudes. It emphasises the causal impact of formal education, political interest and involvement, individual everyday exposures to ‘European’ realities, and the role of collective national experiences of European integration and national history.
