Any regular monthly essayist, who, after accept ing the appointment, shall fail to inform the President of his subject at the meeting previous to its delivery, in order that it may be announced; or who Shall fail to read the same, or provide a substitute to read his paper, in case of his neces sary absence at the appointed time, shall be subject to a fine of ten dollars. He shall, nevertheless, in case of his total failure, still be required to furnish the Secretary with a written paper on some medical or philosophical subject, within three months after; in default of which, he shall be liable to a fur ther fine of ten dollars. Art. 4. NO paper shall occupy in the reading more than thirty minutes, and every member who reads, shall deliver to the President, immediately after so doing, a summary Of the leading contents of his paper, which shall then be read, para graph by paragraph, so as to regulate the discussion.
