Book excerpt: For longevity, countless cultivators would use all sorts of methods to either hone themselves, ascend one level at a time, or treat all living things as ruminants, regardless of the method. It was a deceitful, deceitful, dark, and magnificent scene of hundreds of millions of cultivators fighting in the air and on the ground. It was both a place of longevity and a place of protection for all living things ..."God's camp 136877794, welcome to the camp!"Is Long...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coherent Judaism begins by excavating the theologies within the Torah and tracing their careers through the Jewish Enlightenment of the eighteenth century. Any compelling, contemporary Judaism must cohere as much as possible with traditional Judaism and everything else we believe to be true about our world. The challenge is that over the past two centuries, our understandings of both the Torah and nature have radically changed. Nevertheless, much Jewish wisdom can be translated into a contemporary idiom that both coheres with all that we believe and enriches our lives as individuals and within our communities. Coherent Judaism explains why pre-modern Judaism opted to privilege consensus around Jewish behavior (halakhah) over belief. The stresses of modernity have conspired to reveal the incoherence of that traditional approach. In our post-Darwinian and post-Holocaust world, theology must be able to withstand the challenges of science and history. Traditional Jewish theologies have the resources to meet those challenges. Coherent Judaism concludes by presenting a philosophy of halakhah that is faithful to the covenantal aspiration to live long on the land that the Lord, our God, has given us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I started writing this book, I wasn’t sure if I would live long enough to finish it. My drug addiction was so unmanageably bad, I truly believed that I was doomed to fail. I had so many secrets, hidden thoughts, and feelings that I felt it was very important for me to document my life in such a way that it would help explain some things to my family that I have kept in the dark, to shed some light as to who I was as a person. Because I truly felt like I was running out of time and I didn’t know what else to do but to write somewhat of a love letter/goodbye letter to my friends and family. Then as my sobriety became stronger, I decided to leave everything as it was but add lessons that I have learned along the way. Now, much of this book has become mostly what I’ve learned before and during my sobriety with the intention of sharing my experiences for the reader to relate to on an emotional level, to inspire everyone and anyone searching for a deeper understanding of life and spiritual wisdom. I believe I am only scratching the surface of what is possible. But I know I’m on to something good. This is the type of good that should be shared with anyone who is seeking it. I wouldn’t be doing the universe any favors by keeping this information all to myself. This is a spiritual book about life—my life, your life, and all life. From the smallest life-forms to the largest. This is a book about the past, the present, and the possible future. I believe all people have unique qualities that make them individuals. I also believe, on a fundamental level, that all people are the same. If I can understand my life, I can understand all life. Everything we say and do is a reflection of how we see ourselves and how we see the world. We are living in a modern society where all the information of the world is at our fingertips, good and bad. As our intelligence increases, the likelihood of depression increases with it. Unless you know how to counter it. How much is a quiet, peaceful mind worth to you? This book combines mind, body, spirit, psychology, religion, and science all in one. Mainly because they are all connected and we can’t fully comprehend the full complex simplicity of life if we leave one of them out.

A BuzzFeed Best Young Adult Book of 2020 Perfect for fans of The Last Magician and Serpent & Dove, this heart-stopping debut is an imaginative Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1920s Shanghai, with rival gangs and a monster in the depths of the Huangpu River. This paperback edition of These Violent Delights contains never-before-seen letters from Roma to Juliette! The year is 1926, and Shanghai hums to the tune of debauchery. A blood feud between two gangs runs the streets red, leaving the city helpless in the grip of chaos. At the heart of it all is eighteen-year-old Juliette Cai, a former flapper who has returned to assume her role as the proud heir of the Scarlet Gang—a network of criminals far above the law. Their only rivals in power are the White Flowers, who have fought the Scarlets for generations. And behind every move is their heir, Roma Montagov, Juliette’s first love…and first betrayal. But when gangsters on both sides show signs of instability culminating in clawing their own throats out, the people start to whisper. Of a contagion, a madness. Of a monster in the shadows. As the deaths stack up, Juliette and Roma must set their guns—and grudges—aside and work together, for if they can’t stop this mayhem, then there will be no city left for either to rule. This paperback edition of These Violent Delights contains never-before-seen content!

Book excerpt: It's no secret that we are addicted to control. We work to control our time, our TVs, our weight, and even our faith lives. We strive for efficiency and quantifiable results. But all that control, we soon find out, is exhausting. And it is contrary to God's plan for us. In Chaos and Grace, Mark Galli offers readers freedom from the need for control and order by reintroducing them to the mysterious work of the Holy Spirit. In this insightful book, Galli exposes our individual mistakes and the church's foibles and points the way to grace--which, as it happens, usually lies through chaos and crisis. Through Scripture he shows us that this problem is not unique to modern believers and helps us learn from the stories of God's people through the ages as they gave up and gave in to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
