Book Synopsis Confessions of a Confused Virgin by : Chandler Isaac Klebs
Download or read book Confessions of a Confused Virgin written by Chandler Isaac Klebs and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-11 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not intended to give you any serious advice about sex. It is not a religious book intended to convert you to my beliefs. I can promise you, that is not the case because my own theories about sex and faith in God changes on a daily basis and is influenced by how much caffeine is in my body. If you want to know how to do sex, look for another book, but if you want a good laugh, I think you'll enjoy this. I mention God and the Bible a lot because this book is explaining what is wrong with how many Christians view sex, dating, and marriage. It's based on what I have actually heard people say. The mention of God or religion is something that I have a hard time avoiding because it's become such a part of me that I can't ignore. Whether you believe in God or not, he gave you a brain and a choice. I do not think that he has some eternal punishment in store for you if you happen to lust after a girl's face or have sex with the wrong person. I used to fear that God would punish me for even thinking about sex or looking at a woman's face, but now I think God is too nice for that. It is you who must decide your future. You must take responsibility for your own choices instead of blaming God, the devil, or other people.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Title of the book is Dont Be a Foolish Virgin! The sub-title is Confessions of a Foolish Virgin. When God gave me this title a few years ago, I did not understand what he wanted me to write. As I was studying the Bible a few years later, I came across this scripture, Therefore this is what the LORD says: Inquire among the nations: Who has ever heard anything like this? A most horrible thing has been done by Virgin Israel. Jeremiah 18:13 (NIV) and in Amos 5:1-2a says, Listen, you people of Israel! Listen to this funeral song I am singing: The virgin Israel has fallen Virgin is the Children of Israel, in current day we too are the Children of Israel. All of us are included. My Introduction starts with one of my favorite scriptures, But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Jeremiah 18:4. God is giving me an extreme makeover. This book is my story of how God showed me his unconditional love. You will learn what sin is, where sin came from, when and why we sin, who has sinned and the side-effects of sin. You will walk through forgiveness, asking and accepting forgiveness, and forgiving yourself and others. My goal is to help you focus on your state of mind when you fall and prepare you to avoid the attacks of the enemy. Your eyes will be opened to Gods unconditional love for you as you read about Hoseas obedience to God by marrying Gomer, a harlot, to show his unconditional love for the Children of Israel. Do you know what your special needs are? If not, youll find out. Ill briefly discuss our opportunities to share with others how God has comforted and forgiven us. There is a personal Spiritual Assessment at the end of the book. This fifteen page assessment is for the reader to examine themselves. To guide them as to what areas of their lives that needs attention. God is waiting!
Book Synopsis Confessions of a Latter-day Virgin by : Nicole Hardy
Download or read book Confessions of a Latter-day Virgin written by Nicole Hardy and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2013-08-20 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Nicole Hardy's eye-opening "Modern Love" column appeared in the New York Times, the response from readers was overwhelming. Hardy's essay, which exposed the conflict between being true to herself as a woman and remaining true to her Mormon faith, struck a chord with women coast-to-coast. Now in her funny, intimate, and thoughtful memoir, Nicole Hardy explores how she came, at the age of thirty-five, to a crossroads regarding her faith and her identity. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nicole had held absolute conviction in her Mormon faith during her childhood and throughout her twenties. But as she aged out of the Church's "singles ward" and entered her thirties, she struggled to merge the life she envisioned for herself with the one the Church prescribed, wherein all women are called to be mothers and the role of homemaker is the emphatic ideal. Confessions of a Latter-day Virgin chronicles the extraordinary lengths Nicole went to in an attempt to reconcile her human needs with her spiritual life--flying across the country for dates with LDS men, taking up salsa dancing as a source for physical contact, even moving to Grand Cayman, where the ocean and scuba diving provided some solace. But neither secular pursuits nor LDS guidance could help Nicole prepare for the dilemma she would eventually face: a crisis of faith that caused her to question everything she'd grown up believing. In the tradition of the memoirs Devotion and Mennonite in a Little Black Dress, Confessions of a Latter-day Virgin is a mesmerizing and wholly relatable account of one woman's hard-won mission to find love, acceptance, and happiness--on her own terms.

Download or read book Joyce/Foucault written by Wolfgang Streit and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2009-12-21 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sheds new light on James Joyce's use of sexual motifs as cultural raw material for Ulysses and other works Joyce/Foucault: Sexual Confessions examines instances of sexual confession in works of James Joyce, with a special emphasis on Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses. Using Michel Foucault's historical analysis of Western sexuality as its theoretical underpinning, the book foregrounds the role of the Jesuit order in the spread of a confessional force, and finds this influence inscribed into Joyce's major texts. Wolfgang Streit goes on to argue that the tension between the texts' erotic passages and Joyce's criticism of even his own sexual writing energizes Joyce's narratives-and enables Joyce to develop the radical skepticism of power revealed in his work. Wolfgang Streit is Lecturer, Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich.

Book Synopsis The Consummate Virgin by : Jodi McAlister
Download or read book The Consummate Virgin written by Jodi McAlister and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-08-25 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a study of female virginity loss and its representations in popular Anglophone literatures. It explores dominant cultural narratives around what makes a “good” female virginity loss experience by examining two key forms of popular literature: autobiographical virginity loss stories and popular romance fiction. In particular, this book focuses on how female sexual desire and romantic love have become entangled in the contemporary cultural imagination, leading to the emergence of a dominant paradigm which dictates that for women, sexual desire and love are and should be intrinsically linked together: something which has greatly affected cultural scripts for virginity loss. This book examines the ways in which this paradigm has been negotiated, upheld, subverted, and resisted in depictions of virginity loss in popular literatures, unpacking the romanticisation of the idea of “the right one” and “the right time”.
