Le propos de cette thèse fut de corréler les informations fournies par la stratigraphie séquentielle avec celles fournies par la cinétique de transformation de la matière organique. Le modèle TherMO'S a été conçu afin de déterminer les paléoenfouissements, paléoporosités, paléoconductivités thermiques, paléogradients thermiques, paléoTmax. Un flux de chaleur, supposé constant, à l'échelle du sondage est imposé par l'utilisateur puis ajusté grâce aux Tmax provenant de la pyrolyse Rock-Eval. TherMO'S a été testé pour vingt des puits d'un transect W-E reliant Rambouillet à St Loup dans le bassin de Paris. Cette étude se place à l'échelle séquentielle. Nous avons ainsi obtenu une base de données thermiques pour le bassin de Paris. Les simulations ont permis de mettre en évidence une décroissance latérale du flux de chaleur depuis Rambouillet jusqu'à Trou Aux Loups. Parallèlement les paléogradients thermiques diminuent au cours du temps pour chaque sondage. Les résultats de thermicité mettent en avant les conséquences de la subsidence thermique sur l'évolution des propriétés thermiques associées à l'histoire d'enfouissement de chaque horizon. Les simulations ont permis de distinguer trois évènements thermiques au cours du Pliensbachien, Dogger-Malm et fin Crétacé inférieur - début Crétacé supérieur.

Book excerpt: Les précédentes estimations des températures profondes en France mettent en évidence trois anomalies thermiques positives dont une est centrée entre Marseille et Montpellier. Ce travail de thèse présente l’étude du régime thermique du Bassin du Sud-est à partir d’une réévaluation des températures profondes corrigées des effets thermiques transitoires générés lors des mesures en forage pétrolier. 203 données BHT corrigées et 10 DST (mesures stables) issues de 103 forages ont ainsi été obtenues. Le gradient thermique moyen du Bassin (31,3°C/km) est proche de la moyenne française (32,5°C/km) mais les gradients locaux varient d’environ 20 à 45°C/km. Une analyse géostatistique nous a permis de construite un modèle thermique de représentation 3D de la surface à 6km de profondeur duquel nous avons extrait des coupes et cartes thermiques à différentes profondeurs. De nouvelles anomalies thermiques de plus petites échelle ont ainsi pu être identifiées, certaines étant positives (du côté de Montpellier, Lodève, Gap et La Drôme) et d’autres négatives (dans les Cévennes et la région d’Aix-en-Provence). Une compilation de données géophysiques nous a permis de discuter des anomalies en termes de géologie locale et de phénomènes à grande échelle (variations de profondeur du Moho, épaisseur des sédiments), mais il semble que des circulations de fluides puissent mieux expliquer la localisation, l’amplitude et les longueurs d’ondes des signaux thermiques qui suivent la direction des failles majeures en surface. Le rôle de la circulation de fluides dans la mise en place et l’évolution des anomalies thermiques au sein des zones de la faille est illustré par des modèles numériques en régime stationnaire et transitoire. Ces modèles permettent de reproduire des anomalies de plusieurs dizaines de degrés. Ce phénomène est amplifié lorsqu’une anisotropie de perméabilité est prise en compte. De plus, la dépendance de la perméabilité avec la profondeur permet d’obtenir des superpositions d’anomalies positives et négatives sur un même profil vertical comme nous l’observons sur les coupes thermiques issues des mesures. Loin des zones perméables, les anomalies peuvent s’expliquer par des processus conductifs au sein d’objets dans lesquels les contrastes de conductivité thermique peuvent être importants. L’anisotropie de conductivité dans les formations argileuses peut être responsable du développement d’anomalies proches de celles observées entre les zones perméables. Enfin, les circulations hydrothermales dans les zones de faille associées à des sédiments anisotropes pourraient expliquer la forme, l’évolution en profondeur et l’intensité des anomalies thermiques identifiées.

What do these issues have in common besides their high socio-economic impact? They are all closely related to fluid flow in porous and/or fractured rock. As the conditions of fluid flow in many cases depend on the mechanical behavior of rocks, coupling between the liquid phase and the rock matrix can generally not be neglected. For the past five years or so, studies of rock physics and rock mechanics linked to coupling phenomena have received increased attention. In recognition of this, a Euroconference on thermo-hydro-mechanical coupling in fractured rock was held at Bad Honnef, Germany, in November 2000. Most of the twenty papers collected in this volume were presented at this meeting. The contributions lead to deeper insight in processes where such coupling is relevant.
