This book was released on 1989 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A translation of the 1984 Russian work. Nonequlibrium condensation is an important aspect of weather forecasting, aerosol formation, and the design of jet propulsion engines, steam turbines and nuclear reactors. It has recently taken on a new significance with the development of technologies such as the production of fine powders, cluster spraying, the development of laser media and isotope separation. This volume presents the general theory of condensation in high-speed gas flows, and the new theoretical, experimental and numerical methods necessary for solving the partial differential equations governing the flows. Book excerpt: The International Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ICCFD) is the merger of the International Conference on Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics, ICNMFD (since 1969) and International Symposium on Computational Fluid Dynamics, ISCFD (since 1985). It is held every two years and brings together physicists, mathematicians and engineers to review and share recent advances in mathematical and computational techniques for modeling fluid dynamics. The proceedings of the 2006 conference (ICCFD4) held in Gent, Belgium, contain a selection of refereed contributions and are meant to serve as a source of reference for all those interested in the state of the art in computational fluid mechanics.

The series which stress the more fundamental aspects of the various phenomena that make up the broad field of aeronautical science. The aerodynamicist and gas dynamicist will find both the classical and the important new concepts of gas dynamics presented in an informative and stimulating manner. Specialists in the study of gas dynamics have contributed Sections as follows: H. S. Tsien, The Equations of Gas Dynamics; L. Crocco, One-Dimensional Treatment of Steady Gas Dynamics; A. Kantrowitz, One-Dimensional Treatment of Nonsteady Gas Dynamics; W. Hayes, The Basic Theory of Gasdynamic Discontinuities; H. Polachek and R. J. Seeger, Shock Wave Interactions; H. G. Stever, Condensation Phenomena in High Speed Flows; T. H. Von Karman, H. W. Emmons, G. I. Taylor, and R. S. Tankin, Gas Dynamics of Combustion and Detonation; S. Schaaf and P. Chambre, Flow of Rarefied Gases. Originally published in 1958. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TIlis volume contains the contributions to the Euromech Colloquium No. 241 on Nonlinear Waves in Active Media at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, Tallinn, Estonia, USSR, September 27-30, 1988. The Co-chairmen of the Euromech Colloquium felt that it would be a good service to the community to publish these proceedings. First, the topic itself dealing with various wave processes with energy influx is extremely interesting and attracted a much larger number of participants than usual - a clear sign of its importance to the scientific community. Second, Euromech No. 241 was actually the first Euromech Colloquium held in the Soviet Union and could thus be viewed as a milestone in the extending scientific contacts between East and West. At the colloquium 50 researchers working in very different branches of sci ence met to lecture on their results and to discuss problems of common interest. An introductory paper by I. Engelbrecht presents the common motivation and background of the topics covered. Altogether 36 speakers presented their lectures, of which 30 are gathered here. The remaining six papers which will appear elsewhere are listed on page X. In addition, three contributions by authors who could not attend the colloquium are included. The two lectures given by A.S. Mikhailov, V.S. Davydov and V.S. Zykov are here published as one long paper.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat transfer is involved in numerous industrial technologies. This interdisciplinary book comprises 16 chapters dealing with combined action of heat transfer and concomitant processes. Five chapters of its first section discuss heat effects due to laser, ion and plasma-solid interaction. In eight chapters of the second section engineering applications of heat conduction equations to the curing reaction kinetics in manufacturing process, their combination with mass transport or ohmic and dielectric losses, heat conduction in metallic porous media and power cables are considered. Analysis of the safety of mine hoist under influence of heat produced by mechanical friction, heat transfer in boilers and internal combustion engine chambers, management for ultrahigh strength steel manufacturing are described in this section as well. Three chapters of the last third section are devoted to air cooling of electronic devices.
