This book was released on 1997 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES TURBO CODES CONVOLUTIFS, INVENTES EN 1992 A L'ENSTBR PAR C. BERROU ET AL., SONT DES CODES CORRECTEURS D'ERREURS DONT LE POUVOIR DE CORRECTION AVOISINE LA LIMITE THEORIQUE DE SHANNON. LEURS EXCELLENTES PERFORMANCES ET LA FAIBLE COMPLEXITE DES DECODEURS CORRESPONDANTS ONT INCITE R. PYNDIAH ET AL. A TRANSPOSER LES CONCEPTS NOVATEURS DU TURBO DECODAGE DES CODES CONVOLUTIFS A DE PUISSANTS CODES EN BLOCS CONCATENES, LES CODES PRODUITS. EN 1994 A L'ENSTBR, R. PYNDIAH A PROPOSE UN ALGORITHME DE TURBO DECODAGE DES CODES PRODUITS DONT LES PERFORMANCES EN TERME DE TAUX D'ERREURS BINAIRES SE SONT AVEREES COMPARABLES A CELLE DES TURBO CODES CONVOLUTIFS, VOIRE MEILLEURES POUR LES RENDEMENTS DE CODAGE ELEVES (>0,7). CETTE THESE TRAITE DE L'INTEGRATION SUR SILICIUM DE CET ALGORITHME DE TURBO DECODAGE DES CODES PRODUITS. NOUS PROPOSONS DEUX ARCHITECTURES POUR IMPLANTER LE CIRCUIT. LA PREMIERE EST UNE STRUCTURE MODULAIRE DANS LAQUELLE LES DONNEES SONT TRAITEES SEQUENTIELLEMENT. LA SECONDE S'APPARENTE A UNE MACHINE DITE DE VON NEUMANN ET PERMET DE TRAITER LES DONNEES SEQUENTIELLEMENT OU PAR BLOCS. LES AVANTAGES ET INCONVENIENTS DE CHAQUE SOLUTION - EN TERMES DE DEBIT, DE LATENCE ET DE TAILLE DES MEMOIRES UTILISEES - SONT DISCUTES DANS L'ETUDE. NOUS ABORDONS ENSUITE LA CONCEPTION DE L'UNITE DE DECODAGE POUR DES CODES PRODUITS CONSTRUITS A PARTIR DE CODES BCH. LES SURFACES DE SILICIUM OBTENUES, BIEN QUE RELATIVEMENT IMPORTANTES, PERMETTENT DE CONCLURE A L'INTEGRABILITE DE L'ALGORITHME. NOUS PROPOSONS ALORS DIFFERENTES SOLUTIONS POUR REDUIRE DE PRES DE 60% LA SURFACE DE L'UNITE DE DECODAGE SANS DEGRADER SIGNIFICATIVEMENT LES PERFORMANCES DU CIRCUIT. CES RESULTATS, CONCRETISES PAR LA REALISATION D'UN PREMIER PROTOTYPE DE TURBO DECODEUR SUR CIRCUIT FPGA XILINX, FONT DES TURBO CODES EN BLOCS UNE ALTERNATIVE SEDUISANTE AUX SOLUTIONS RETENUES JUSQU'ALORS POUR LES TRANSMISSIONS NUMERIQUES NECESSITANT UNE FORTE EFFICACITE SPECTRALE ET UN TRES FAIBLE TAUX D'ERREURS.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive overview of the subject of channel coding. It starts with a description of information theory, focusing on the quantitative measurement of information and introducing two fundamental theorems on source and channel coding. The basics of channel coding in two chapters, block codes and convolutional codes, are then discussed, and for these the authors introduce weighted input and output decoding algorithms and recursive systematic convolutional codes, which are used in the rest of the book. Trellis coded modulations, which have their primary applications in high spectral efficiency transmissions, are then covered, before the discussion moves on to an advanced coding technique called turbocoding. These codes, invented in the 1990s by C. Berrou and A. Glavieux, show exceptional performance. The differences between convolutional turbocodes and block turbocodes are outlined, and for each family, the authors present the coding and decoding techniques, together with their performances. The book concludes with a chapter on the implementation of turbocodes in circuits. As such, anyone involved in the areas of channel coding and error correcting coding will find this book to be of invaluable assistance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the most recent techniques for turbo decoder implementation, especially for 4G and beyond 4G applications. The authors reveal techniques for the design of high-throughput decoders for future telecommunication systems, enabling designers to reduce hardware cost and shorten processing time. Coverage includes an explanation of VLSI implementation of the turbo decoder, from basic functional units to advanced parallel architecture. The authors discuss both hardware architecture techniques and experimental results, showing the variations in area/throughput/performance with respect to several techniques. This book also illustrates turbo decoders for 3GPP-LTE/LTE-A and IEEE 802.16e/m standards, which provide a low-complexity but high-flexibility circuit structure to support these standards in multiple parallel modes. Moreover, some solutions that can overcome the limitation upon the speedup of parallel architecture by modification to turbo codec are presented here. Compared to the traditional designs, these methods can lead to at most 33% gain in throughput with similar performance and similar cost.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All current methods of secure communication such as public-key cryptography can eventually be broken by faster computing. At the interface of physics and computer science lies a powerful solution for secure communications: quantum cryptography. Because eavesdropping changes the physical nature of the information, users in a quantum exchange can easily detect eavesdroppers. This allows for totally secure random key distribution, a central requirement for use of the one-time pad. Since the one-time pad is theoretically proven to be undecipherable, quantum cryptography is the key to perfect secrecy. Quantum Communications and Cryptography is the first comprehensive review of the past, present, and potential developments in this dynamic field. Leading expert contributors from around the world discuss the scientific foundations, experimental and theoretical developments, and cutting-edge technical and engineering advances in quantum communications and cryptography. The book describes the engineering principles and practical implementations in a real-world metropolitan network as well as physical principles and experimental results of such technologies as entanglement swapping and quantum teleportation. It also offers the first detailed treatment of quantum information processing with continuous variables. Technologies include both free-space and fiber-based communications systems along with the necessary protocols and information processing approaches. Bridging the gap between physics and engineering, Quantum Communications and Cryptography supplies a springboard for further developments and breakthroughs in this rapidly growing area.

The author’s tutorial style derives from the conviction that understanding is enhanced when the necessity behind the particular teaching approach is made clear. He also combines mathematical derivations and formulas with extensive explanations and examples to deepen comprehension. Fundamental chapters on the physics and perception of sound precede those on noise reduction (elastic isolation) methods. The last chapter deals with microphones and loudspeakers. Moeser includes major discoveries by Lothar Cremer, including the optimum impedance for mufflers and the coincidence effect behind structural acoustic transmission. The appendix gives a short introduction on the use of complex amplitudes in acoustics.

After the analysis of existing computation and execution models used for the specification and validation of different sub-systems, the book introduces a systematic approach to build an execution model for systems composed of heterogeneous components. Mixed continuous/discrete and hardware/software systems are used to illustrate these concepts. The benefit of reading this book is to arrive at a clear vision of the theory and practice of specification and validation of complex modern systems. Numerous examples give designers highly applicable solutions.
