Book Synopsis Comparison of the Falling Weight Deflectometer and the Dynaflect for Pavement Evaluation by : Bary Eagleson
Download or read book Comparison of the Falling Weight Deflectometer and the Dynaflect for Pavement Evaluation written by Bary Eagleson and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A literature search was made for the purpose of comparing deflection measuring devices. The Dynaflect, Road Rater, and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) ranked highest when compared, using the criteria of cost, operational characteristics, and suitability. Field testing proved the Dynaflect and FWD were nearly equal in overall ability except in operational speed. Here the Dynaflect was superior primarily due to the automated sensor placement. The correlation coefficients obtained showed good agreement between the deflections measured by the two devices on all pavements tested except overlaid CRCP. This study indicates that there may be pavements and conditions for which the Dynaflect does not provide useful information or where present methods of data interpretation do not appear to be adequate.
Book Synopsis Dynamic Interpretation of Dynaflect and Falling Weight Deflectometer Tests on Pavement Systems by : Ko-Young Shao

This book was released on 1986 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dynaflect and the Falling Weight Deflectometer are commonly used for nondestructive testing of pavements. Although in both cases a dynamic load is imparted, the determination of the mechanical properties of the pavement is normally performed by using static analyses. In this study, the displacements obtained from dynamic analyses are compared to those provided by conventional static programs when the subbase is a homogeneous soil stratum of finite depth, resting on a much stiffer rock-like material and when the soil properties increase smoothly with depth, as is often the case.

Download or read book Evaluation of Pavement Deflection Measuring Equipment written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents the research performed on evaluation of pavement deflection equipment under Contract DTFH61-85-C-00115 for the Federal Highway Administration. The following devices were included in side-by-side field tests conducted in the Austin, Texas area during the week of August 11, 1986: the Benkelman Beam, C.E.B.T.P. Curviameter, Dynaflect, Dynatest Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), Kuab FWD, Phonix FWD, and the Road Rater. The report includes descriptions and comparisons of the devices through information obtained from a literature search, field tests and user survey conducted for this study. The side-by-side test program was performed over a broad range of pavement structures, including thick and thin flexible and rigid pavements, and composite pavements. The measured deflections were compared statistically. Mechanistic interpretations of the measured deflection basins were made and compared.

This book was released on 1988 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In november 1987, a report was prepared for a study of three pavement deflection devices tested side-by-side for repeatability, precision and uniformity of measurements as well as their correlation to each other. the three devices included the falling weight deflectometer, the benkleman beam and the dynaflect. (see irrd 807104). this addendum report summarizes the comparative costs of gathering equivalent data with each of these devices. results indicate that the relative productivity of the falling weight deflectometer and the dynaflect compared to the benkleman beam is 2.16:1 and 1.59:1 respectively.

This book was released on 1987 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes a study undertaken to compare three pavement deflection devices for repeatability, precision and uniformity of measurements as well as their correlation to each other. the three devices tested were the falling weight deflectometer, the benkleman beam and the dynaflect. the results indicate that deflection measurements taken by these devices correlated very well. of particular note, the falling weight deflectometer had the smallest coefficient of variation in repeatability tests and had the shortest test time per measurement.

Download or read book A Comparison of the Rolling Weight Deflectometer with the Falling Weight Deflectometer written by RN. Stubstad and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A prototype Rolling Weight Deflectometer (RWD) has been designed and produced for testing airfield pavements. The RWD is a trailer mounted device that continuously measures maximum pavement deflections under a load wheel under moving conditions. The RWD was originally designed to perform measurements at a maximum speed of 10 kph (6 mph) with load of up to 222 kN (50,000 lb.). The RWD was recently modified to collect deflections at an increased speed of 32 kph (20 mph) under a 40 kN (9000 lb.) wheel load. It is anticipated that a highway version of the RWD will be produced jointly by Quest Integrated and Dynatest Consulting, Inc., within the next two years that will collect deflections at highway speeds of 70 to 80 kph (45 to 50 mph).
