This book was released on 1975 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS) is a recently developed method that shows great promise for extending and complementing the applicability of standard Raman spectroscopic techniques. An apparatus to observe the nonlinear generation of coherent anti-Stokes Raman beams was constructed. Three different types of nitrogen lasers were built and each was critically evaluated. One type, which provided the highest power, was used to simultaneously pump two tunable dye lasers. The backgrounds and design features of each of the laser types are discussed. When two dye laser beams were crossed and focused in a Raman active material, the sample emitted higher frequency anti-Stokes radiation. Due to system limitations, this radiation was diffuse rather than a collimated beam. The theory of Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS) is also discussed.

This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for lnformation and Numerica/ Data Analysis and Synthesis (C/NDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficia! to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After fi ve years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of ali concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and App/ied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. Ali back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 21 (thesis year 1976) a total of 10,586 theses titles from 25 Canadian and 219 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work.
Book Synopsis Ultranarrowband Tunable Dye Laser for New Approaches to Atomic Spectroscopy by : Stanford University. Microwave Laboratory
Download or read book Ultranarrowband Tunable Dye Laser for New Approaches to Atomic Spectroscopy written by Stanford University. Microwave Laboratory and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report summarizes a successful experiment to measure the Rydberg constant with an accuracy of one part in 100 million by saturation spectroscopy of the Balmer line of atomic hydrogen and deuterium, using a repetitively pulsed tunable dye laser. The second, largest part of the report gives design features and operating characteristics of a newly developed dye laser oscillator/amplifier system, pumped by 1 MW nitrogen laser, which offers one or two orders of magnitude higher peak power per spectral interval than any other presently available dye laser, using comparable pump source. Its potential for nonlinear molecular spectroscopy is illustrated by a high resolution two-photon excitation spectrum of benzene vapor. The third part reports on the generation of the narrowband tunable ultraviolet radiation by frequency doubling of the dye laser output.
Book Synopsis Organic Semiconductor Lasers and Tailored Nanostructures for Raman Spectroscopy by : Liu, Xin
Download or read book Organic Semiconductor Lasers and Tailored Nanostructures for Raman Spectroscopy written by Liu, Xin and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2015-06-19 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents the application of organic semiconductor distributed feedback laser as free-space excitation source in Raman spectroscopy. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering effect is exploited to improve the detection sensitivity. The SERS conditionis achiedved by using substrates consisting of gold-coated polymeric nanopillar arrays. The organic-laser-excited SERS measurements are applied to verify the concentration variation of biomolecule adenosine in aqueous solutions.

Book Synopsis High Resolution Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy of Deuterium Gas by : David A. Russell
Download or read book High Resolution Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy of Deuterium Gas written by David A. Russell and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) is a third order nonlinear optical mixing process primarily used to probe gases. Two laser beams interact with the medium being studied producing a weak, third beam with a higher frequency than either of the lasers. High resolution cw coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) was performed in molecular deuterium gas. Single mode argon ion and ring dye lasers were used to make accurate measurements of the Raman linewidths of the Q(0) through Q(4) transitions. These lines were examined at room temperature at pressures ranging from 0.35 to 20 atmospheres. The pressure broadening coefficient and the self diffusion coefficient of each line were obtained in this study and compared with other work. Additionally, the transition frequency of each line was measured and the frequency shift coefficients were obtained.
