An estimated one in three couples suffer from problems associated with one partner having a higher libido than the other. Marriage therapist Michele Weiner Davis has written THE SEX-STARVED MARRIAGE to help couples come to terms with this problem. Weiner Davis shows you how to address pyschological factors like depression, poor body image and communication problems that affect sexual desire. With separate chapters for the spouse that's ready for action and the spouse that's ready for sleep, THE SEX-STARVED MARRIAGE will help you re-spark your passion and stop you fighting about sex. Weiner Davis is renowned for her straight-talking style and here she puts it to great use to let you know you're not alone in having marital sex problems. Bitterness or complacency about ho-hum sex can ruin a marriage, breaking the emotional tie of good sex.
Book Synopsis Studies in Memory of Issai Schur by : Anthony Joseph
Download or read book Studies in Memory of Issai Schur written by Anthony Joseph and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume Studies in Memory of Issai Schur was conceived as a tribute to Schur's of his tragic end. His impact on great contributions to mathematics and in remembrance of mathematicians Representation Theory alone was so great that a significant number of Researchers (TMR) Network, in the European Community Training and Mobility Orbits, Crystals and Representation Theory, in operation during the period (1997-2002) have been occupied with what has been called Schur theory. Consequently, this volume has the additional purpose of recording some of the significant results of the network. It was furthermore appropriate that invited contributors should be amongst the speakers at the Paris Midterm Workshop of the network held at Chevaleret during 21-25 May, 2000 as well as those of the Schur Memoriam Workshop held at the Weizmann Institute, Rehovot, during 27-31 December 2000. The latter marked the sixtieth anniversary of Schur's passing and took place in the 125th year of his birth.

Book Synopsis Rational Points on Algebraic Varieties by : Emmanuel Peyre
Download or read book Rational Points on Algebraic Varieties written by Emmanuel Peyre and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the study of rational and integral points on higher-dimensional algebraic varieties. It contains carefully selected research papers addressing the arithmetic geometry of varieties which are not of general type, with an emphasis on how rational points are distributed with respect to the classical, Zariski and adelic topologies. The present volume gives a glimpse of the state of the art of this rapidly expanding domain in arithmetic geometry. The techniques involve explicit geometric constructions, ideas from the minimal model program in algebraic geometry as well as analytic number theory and harmonic analysis on adelic groups.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1965, Vera Rubin was the first woman permitted to observe at Palomar Observatory. In the intervening years, she has become one of the world's finest and most respected astronomers. This particular collection of essays is compiled from work written over the past 15 years and deals with a variety of subjects in astronomy and astrophysics, specifically galaxies and dark matter. The book also contains biographical sketches of astronomers who have been colleagues and friends, providing a stimulating view of a woman in science. About the Author Since 1965 Vera Rubin has been a staff member at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism of the Carnegie Institution of Washington. Dr. Rubin has authored nearly 200 papers on the structure of our galaxy, motions within other galaxies, and large scale motions in the universe. She has been a distinguished visiting astronomer at the Cerro Tololo Inter American Observatory in Chile; a Chancellor's Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Berkeley; a President's Distinguished Visitor at Vassar College; and a Beatrice Tinsley visiting professor at the University of Texas, Austin.

Book Synopsis Real Analysis by : Emmanuele DiBenedetto
Download or read book Real Analysis written by Emmanuele DiBenedetto and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2016-09-17 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of this classic textbook presents a rigorous and self-contained introduction to real analysis with the goal of providing a solid foundation for future coursework and research in applied mathematics. Written in a clear and concise style, it covers all of the necessary subjects as well as those often absent from standard introductory texts. Each chapter features a “Problems and Complements” section that includes additional material that briefly expands on certain topics within the chapter and numerous exercises for practicing the key concepts. The first eight chapters explore all of the basic topics for training in real analysis, beginning with a review of countable sets before moving on to detailed discussions of measure theory, Lebesgue integration, Banach spaces, functional analysis, and weakly differentiable functions. More topical applications are discussed in the remaining chapters, such as maximal functions, functions of bounded mean oscillation, rearrangements, potential theory, and the theory of Sobolev functions. This second edition has been completely revised and updated and contains a variety of new content and expanded coverage of key topics, such as new exercises on the calculus of distributions, a proof of the Riesz convolution, Steiner symmetrization, and embedding theorems for functions in Sobolev spaces. Ideal for either classroom use or self-study, Real Analysis is an excellent textbook both for students discovering real analysis for the first time and for mathematicians and researchers looking for a useful resource for reference or review. Praise for the First Edition: “[This book] will be extremely useful as a text. There is certainly enough material for a year-long graduate course, but judicious selection would make it possible to use this most appealing book in a one-semester course for well-prepared students.” —Mathematical Reviews
Book Synopsis Building a Naive Bayes Text Classifier and Accounting for Document Length by : Dwight Sunada
Download or read book Building a Naive Bayes Text Classifier and Accounting for Document Length written by Dwight Sunada and published by . This book was released on 2017-06-26 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classification is the process of determining the class to which an object belongs. An example of such classification is text classification: assigning a document to a category. When the number of documents is large, classification requires automation. One statistical method for performing text classification on a computer is the naive Bayes classifier. This report presents the theory behind such a classifier and explains the relationship between document length and the Bayesian equations for classification. This report also presents the implementation of various naive Bayes classifiers and examines their performance. Among these classifiers, the multinomial naive Bayes classifier performs best.
