This book is a compilation of those issues. The subject material is varied and diverse---the bulk of it is a recounting of real life experiences, both mundane and dramatic, frequently analyzed from sociological, philosophical, psychological and humanistic perspectives. It also includes commentary on sociological issues, as well as topical commentary on the events of the day: the O.J. Simpson trial, the death of Princess Diana, and September 11, 2001. Sports topics of the day are discussed, and a smattering of poetry is also included, as well as reader commentary. It is an open-minded and multi-faceted book unlike any other you have read or will read.
Book Synopsis The Anti-Cinderella Royal Romance Box Set by : Tawdra Kandle
Download or read book The Anti-Cinderella Royal Romance Box Set written by Tawdra Kandle and published by Tawdra Kandle Romance. This book was released on 2020-07-07 with total page 730 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All three books in the best-selling The Anti-Cinderella Trilogy are available in one set! Plus . . . a bonus novella: Hot Off The Press The Anti-Cinderella How many girls can say their first kiss was with a prince in the British royal family? I was fourteen and he was sixteen, and yes, it was magical. But I didn't even think about it-or Nicky Windsor-for the next ten years . . . until fate brought us back together again. Now everything has spun out of control. The whole world seems to be watching me, wanting to see some kind of modern Cinderella story. But trust me, I'm no man's princess. I'm more comfortable in tennis shoes than in a tiara, more likely to rock a bucket than a ball gown, and more liable to fall on my face than to pull off a graceful wave. The only thing that keeps me from running away and hiding is Nicky. He's all I've ever wanted in a man: hot, hunky and head-over-heels in love with me. I think I feel the same way. I think I want to be with him forever. The Anti-Cinderella Takes London Falling in love with a prince wasn't something I planned . . . When I reconnected with the first guy I ever kissed, I never dreamed I'd end up moving to England to be closer to him. But Nicky and I are in love, and living together was the next logical step. But dating royalty is even more challenging now that I'm in London. Every move I make, every word I say, is under the microscope. Becoming part of Nicky's family while staying true to who I am isn't easy. Nicky makes everything worthwhile. The hours when we're alone together are paradise. And if the press and the pressure are the price I have to pay for him . . . I'll choose Nicky, every single time. After all, London's just another town. Right? The Anti-Cinderella Conquers the World The royal wedding was only the beginning of my happy ending . . . I'm now a full-fledged member of the royal family. That means all my problems are over, doesn't it? Apparently not. Even though I'm now a princess-by-marriage and a duchess-by-title, I'm still the same Kyra who's prone to putting her sneaker-clad foot into her mouth. It's a good thing Nicky loves me. Our work is thriving, and our marriage is strong. Together, we can tackle any challenge. But it's not until our peaceful existence is threatened that I realize how precious it is. And they lived happily ever after . . . didn't they? AND a bonus novella Hot Off the Press, an Anti-Cinderella Chronicles Romance! Sophie Kent loves her new job as press liaison for Kyra Duncan, fiancee of Britain's Prince Nicholas. But there's one downside, and it comes in the form of a very sexy, very annoying American reporter named Garrett Smith. He's determined to make life more difficult, and so far, he's succeeding. But these two just might discover their chemistry is stronger than their combat.
Book Synopsis Defining All-Israel in Chronicles by : Louis C. Jonker
Download or read book Defining All-Israel in Chronicles written by Louis C. Jonker and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2016-05-17 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Louis C. Jonker considers more sophisticated and nuanced models for applying the heuristic lens of "identity" in the interpretation of the Hebrew Bible book of Chronicles. Not only does he investigate the potential and limitations of different sociological models for this purpose, but the author also provides a more nuanced analysis of the socio-historical context of origin of late Persian-period biblical literature by distinguishing between four levels of socio-historic existence in this period. It is shown that varying power relations were in operation on these different levels which contributed to a multi-levelled process of identity negotiation. Louis C. Jonker shows the value of the chosen methodological approach in his analysis of Chronicles, but also suggests that it holds potential for the investigation of other Hebrew Bible corpora.

It’s weird to be part of a family where the death of a beloved member means a huge international ceremony as the heir officially takes over. It’s even weirder when a new monarch means big changes for my own little family. I thought that after being a duchess and princess-by-marriage for over five years, I was ready for anything that came my way. But I wasn’t prepared to lose our Queen, our beloved Granny–and I definitely didn’t expect how my world would turn upside down when the King hints at drastic shifts in how the family works. On Coronation Day, I’m filled with apprehension and worry about the future. Nicky and I have some major decisions to make . . . and those choices could mean this Anti-Cinderella’s world is about to turn upside down. Again.

Book Synopsis Race in Young Adult Speculative Fiction by : Meghan Gilbert-Hickey
Download or read book Race in Young Adult Speculative Fiction written by Meghan Gilbert-Hickey and published by Univ. Press of Mississippi. This book was released on 2021-04-22 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributions by Malin Alkestrand, Joshua Yu Burnett, Sean P. Connors, Jill Coste, Meghan Gilbert-Hickey, Miranda A. Green-Barteet, Sierra Hale, Kathryn Strong Hansen, Elizabeth Ho, Esther L. Jones, Sarah Olutola, Alex Polish, Zara Rix, Susan Tan, and Roberta Seelinger Trites Race in Young Adult Speculative Fiction offers a sustained analysis of race and representation in young adult speculative fiction (YASF). The collection considers how characters of color are represented in YASF, how they contribute to and participate in speculative worlds, how race affects or influences the structures of speculative worlds, and how race and racial ideologies are implicated in YASF. This collection also examines how race and racism are discussed in YASF or if, indeed, race and racism are discussed at all. Essays explore such notable and popular works as the Divergent series, The Red Queen, The Lunar Chronicles, and the Infernal Devices trilogy. They consider the effects of colorblind ideology and postracialism on YASF, a genre that is often seen as progressive in its representation of adolescent protagonists. Simply put, colorblindness silences those who believe—and whose experiences demonstrate—that race and racism do continue to matter. In examining how some YASF texts normalize many of our social structures and hierarchies, this collection examines how race and racism are represented in the genre and considers how hierarchies of race are reinscribed in some texts and transgressed in others. Contributors point toward the potential of YASF to address and interrogate racial inequities in the contemporary West and beyond. They critique texts that fall short of this possibility, and they articulate ways in which readers and critics alike might nonetheless locate diversity within narratives. This is a collection troubled by the lingering emphasis on colorblindness in YASF, but it is also the work of scholars who love the genre and celebrate its progress toward inclusivity, and who further see in it an enduring future for intersectional identity.
