Book excerpt: When your last name is Charming, and your family believes that you're a direct descendant of Cinderella, you are prone to be the target of some bullies growing up. It's no wonder you close up and want to become invisible. That's until Carl, my eternal crush, breaks up with his cheerleader girlfriend. I finally have a chance to seduce him, and there's a ball coming up that's the perfect place for a first romantic date. But going through a makeover turns to be an impossible task that makes me the target of more bullying. Looking for a bit of comfort in the fairytale items that my parents guard with their own lives, I try on the glass slippers they claim belonged to Cinderella. For my utter excitement and dread, they are magical and take me to another world where a handsome elf prince throws endless parties while waiting for his queen to find him. As I seek refuge in that other world and befriend Edrahil, the dark prince, I discover that a promise has been made in the past, and the prince might find his demises if he doesn't find his beloved soon. In a twist of fate, Edrahil decides to play matchmaker and help me conquer my lover's heart in return of taking the magical slippers in a race against time to find his beloved. Dating Carl is a dream come true, so why do I feel as if I made a terrible mistake? Chasing Cinderella is a twist in the classic fairy tale that makes every girl wish for a prince charming. But when it comes to love, sometimes it's hard to see past the smoke and mirrors and choose the prince that's right for your heart.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sad little mermaid trades her voice for legs to get a stupid human prince to fall in love with her. What a crock. That wasn't how my story went at all. That's not even how mermaids work. We can have legs whenever we want them. We just mostly choose not to because we dislike people who live on land. I never would have set foot there, but I needed to kill a druid king. Yeah, the little mermaid didn't come on land to fall in love with a prince. She went there to kill a king. There are rules. Certain waters are off limits for the land dwellers. He came to my home in a large ship and killed several of my friends. The sea council might want to let that slide, but he killed my sister, so now I have to end him. Getting close enough to the king to kill him is going to be hard. He has three sons that could be my answer to living through this. They aren't bad for druid royalty. Two of them are kindle and gentle. The other is a little mean in a way I can appreciate. Still, I don't trust any druid. Out of all the supernatural creatures on land, they are the worst. A lot of their magic requires bits from living beings and their ethics on getting those aren't exactly sound. I might like his sons, but this can't go anywhere. Most people tend to balk at relationships when you kill their father. I won't stop until it's done. I owe it to my sister.

Adam also works at the University, and he is everything she desires. But it's difficult for her to move forward with either of them, when her past and her ex, Julian maintains their toxic hold of her. However, she's not willing to let Julian or anyone else stand in her way of finding happiness. But, with all the terrifying events that are happening to her, she may not have a choice. Is it because she is dating Will, while lusting for Adam? Or are her newfound friends, Charlie and Megan, too dynamic for her mundane life? There are too many questions and hidden secrets lurking in the shadows that will eventually render Marisa helpless. Marisa will have to try and overcome the past that haunts her, and the present that has ensnarled her. If she doesn't, Marisa's journey to securing the perfect ending, may be the complete ending of her.

In this volume you will find stories like “The Story Of Unlucky Daniel”, “The Vampire And St Michael”, “The Tsar And The Angel”, “The Story Of Ivan And The Daughter Of The Sun”, “The Straw Ox”, “The Golden Slipper”, “The Iron Wolf”, “The Story of the Wind” and many more, most not heard in the west for many a year. This volume of stories has been selected from a Slavonic dialect extraordinarily rich in folk-tales. The original language was Ruthenian, the language of the Ukrainian Steppe, and of the Cossacks. This was the first translation ever made from Ruthenian into English. Until Ukrainian independence the language was rigorously repressed by the Soviet Government, and has since been a foundation from which modern Ukrainian has been developed. It possesses a noble literature, numerous folk-songs and a copious collection of justly admired folk-tales, many of them of great antiquity, which are regarded, both in Russia and Poland, as quite unique of their kind. Because of this, these stories have a distinctly Slavic flavour for the Cossacks are a proud race of predominantly East Slavic-speaking people mainly located in Southern Russia and in South-Eastern Ukraine usually sparsely populated areas and islands in the lower Dnieper, Don, Terek and Ural river basins. They played an important role in the historical and cultural development of Ukraine. So, we invite you to download this collection of Cossack culture, sit back and enjoy these stories before you embark on reading them to a younger audience. Book excerpt: This book has especially been republished to raise funds for the BBC’s Children in Need appeals. This book is compiled of 26 old, rare and forgotten Fairy Tales and stories taken from books in Abela Publishing’s series “Folk-Lore, Fairytales, Myths and Legends from Around the World” - a series created to raise funds for charities and underprivileged individuals. Keeping true to our vision, the intent behind this compendium is to raise funds for BBC’s Children in Need Appeal. The 26 stories and poems in this volume raising funds for the appeal are Tom Tit Tot - English King O'toole And His Goose - Irish The Origin Of Loch Ness - Scottish The Widow And Her Daughters - Scottish Fair, Brown And Trembling - Irish The Perfidious Vizier - Arabian The Frog's Skin – Rep. of Georgia Turtle-Dove, Sage-Cock And The Witch - American Indian A Story About A Giant And The Cause Of Thunder – West Africa The Parrot's Song - Armenian poem The Emperor Tenchi – Japanese poem The Beggar King - Israeli The Foolish, Timid Rabbit – Jataka Tale Cradle Song – Armenian poem The Charmed Ring - India The Thirteenth Son Of The King Of Erin - Celtic The Minister Michi-Nobu Fujiwara – Japanese poem The Monkey’s Fiddle – Kalahari Bushmen The Daughter Of The Rose - Romania The Gypsy And The Dragon – Bukowina Gypsy How The Sacred Duck Got His Yellow Breast - Tibet The Story Of Gelert - Wales Why The Kingfisher Always Wears A War Bonnet – American Indian How Sun, Moon, And Wind Went Out To Dinner - India Twas The Night Before Christmas – Viking Version The Tail - Celtic The words 'Fairy Tales' must be taken to include tales in which something 'fairy', something extraordinary occurs -- fairies, giants, dwarfs, speaking animals. One cannot imagine a child saying, 'Tell me a folk-tale', or 'Another nursery tale, please, grandma'. It must also be taken to cover tales in which something magical happens. Mostly it is the comical stupidity of some of the actors, as is so common in moral tales. In buying this book you will be giving in more than one way. Once to the Children in Need appeal and again, to yourself, as you read and enjoy stories not read for many a year. But should you perchance happen to read these stories to your children, nieces and nephews or grand-children, you will be giving yet again. 50% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to the appeal. So take some time out and travel back to a period before television, or even radio for that matter, when families would gather around a crackling and spitting hearth and granddad or grandma or an uncle or aunt would delight and captivate their audience with stories passed on to them from their mothers, fathers and grandparents. =============== TAGS: Folklore, fairy tales, myths, legends, children’s stories, bedtime, fables, lore, Children in Need, Appeal, Tom Tit Tot, English, King O'toole, Goose, Ireland, Origin Of Loch Ness, Scotland, Widow, Daughters, Fair, Brown, Trembling, Perfidious Vizier, Arabia, Frog's Skin, Turtle-Dove, Sage-Cock, Witch, Giant, Cause Of Thunder, West Africa, Parrot's Song, Armenia, Emperor Tenchi, Beggar King, Jewish, Foolish, Timid Rabbit, Cradle Song, Charmed Ring, Thirteenth Son, King Of Erin, Celtic, Minister, Fujiwara, Japan, Monkey’s Fiddle, Jataka, Daughter, Rose, Romania, Gypsy, Dragon, Sacred Duck, Yellow Breast, Tibet, Gelert, wales, Kingfisher, War Bonnet, American Indian, Sun, Moon, Wind, Out To Dinner, India, Night Before Christmas, Viking, Tail

Book excerpt: “Greg F. Gifune and Sandy DeLuca are two formidable writers in their own right. Together, they have crafted a vibrant, haunting novel that follows an artist named Mina, who is starting to wonder if her life is a failure, when she is given the chance to shine at an exclusive artists' colony. But since this is a horror novel, that golden opportunity eventually becomes something much more sinister. I drank this book in like a fine wine, and you will, too.” – L.L. Soares, author of Teach Them How to Bleed and Something Blue and Other Colorful Deaths When Mina, a troubled and struggling young painter, is awarded an artist’s residency offered by a small collective of eccentric artists in the mysterious coastal town of Crow’s Cry, she’s hopeful the opportunity will help get both her career and life back on track. Headed by the enigmatic, elderly, and internationally distinguished German artist Klaus Riker, a brilliant painter known for his unorthodox practice of combining art with spiritualism, the collective warmly welcomes Mina into their fold and provides her with every opportunity to take full advantage of the residency program. But in time Mina senses there may be something more going on in Crow’s Cry than meets the eye. There is something strange and unsettling about the collective, about the dark old house on the cliffs where Klaus lives and hosts his community of artists, about the horrifying dreams Mina keeps having, and even something disturbing about the paintings Mina’s working on herself. As she becomes increasingly isolated from the outside world and drawn deeper into the collective and their unusual practices, Mina begins to suspect that Klaus and the others may not be exactly what they seem. Could their motivations for selecting her be far darker and dangerous than she imagined, or is it only Mina’s personal demons and paranoia at play? As she delves deeper into what may actually be going on, Mina creeps closer to the truth behind not only her own troubled soul, but the collective, their plans for her, and the unspeakable horror that awaits her in THE STILL PLACE.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can one moment in life define who you are? Can this same brief second influence what others will become? How strong are the locked doors to our past and how long can they contain the monsters that pound against them, raging to get out? A moment in time binds four high school seniors and a guidance counselor. The lives of a stoner, loser, bitch, social butterfly, and an alcoholic become entwined because of an incident that occurred six years in the past. Two seventh graders enter a stairwell and five lives are changed forever. Six years later, festering hate, adolescent perception, incompetent parents, and a handgun bring a dramatic conclusion to this one moment in time. What the Mirror Sees is a gritty look at the life of high school teens and the harsh realities they deal with in what is often perceived as a cold and uncaring world. T.A. HALUKENNAH turned down several Ivy League scholarships to backpack across the United States at the age of 18. During the two years and eight months he was on the road, in 38 different states, he supported himself by working minimum-wage jobs. It was here that he encountered the backbone of America's economy, teenagers and illegal aliens. Ever since this trip Halukennah has maintained an affinity toward the youth of our country. His writing reflects the struggles of adolescence and the resiliency of children. T.A. Halukennah has no place he calls home and rarely stays in one place for an extended period of time. His last known residence was somewhere in upstate New York.
