Book Synopsis Geological and Petrophysical Characterization of the Ferron Sandstone for 3-D Simulation of a Fluvial-deltaic Reservoir by : Thomas C. Chidsey
Download or read book Geological and Petrophysical Characterization of the Ferron Sandstone for 3-D Simulation of a Fluvial-deltaic Reservoir written by Thomas C. Chidsey and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2002 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the Ferron Sandstone project was to develop a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, quantitative characterization of a fluvial-deltaic reservoir to allow realistic inter-well and reservoir-scale models to be developed for improved oil-field development in similar reservoirs world-wide. Quantitative geological and petrophysical information on the Cretaceous Ferron Sandstone in east-central Utah was collected. Both new and existing data were integrated into a three-dimensional model of spatial variations in porosity, storativity, and tensorial rock permeability at a scale appropriate for inter-well to regional-scale reservoir simulation. Simulation results could improve reservoir management through proper infill and extension drilling strategies, reduction of economic risks, increased recovery from existing oil fields, and more reliable reserve calculations. This 471-page report describes the geological and petrophysical characteristics of the fluvial-deltaic Upper Cretaceous Ferron Sandstone. The report includes Ferron facies analysis, regional sequence stratigraphy, evaluation of three case-study areas, geostatistics, and a 3-D oil and gas reservoir simulation of the Ferron.

Book Synopsis The Characteristics and Development Technology Policy of Low Permeability-Tight Sandstone Reservoirs in Fluvial-Delta Systems by : Luo Chao
Download or read book The Characteristics and Development Technology Policy of Low Permeability-Tight Sandstone Reservoirs in Fluvial-Delta Systems written by Luo Chao and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2024-04-23 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the study of low permeability and tight sandstone reservoirs within fluvial delta facies found in the Ordos Basin, Songliao Basin, and Sichuan Basin. It systematically examines the superimposed patterns, geometric forms, and scale characteristics of sedimentary sand bodies within the fluvial delta system. Additionally, it analyzes the impact of seepage barriers such as interlayers and closed faults on fluid flow. The book establishes a sedimentary model for sand bodies in typical sedimentary environments, considering the differences in separation and connectivity caused by the shape, scale, direction, and spatial overlap of different reservoir units and seepage barriers. It investigates the mechanisms of fluid flow controlled by interlayer, plane, and intralayer heterogeneity to understand the fluid flow within the reservoir architecture unit affected by different flow types.

Book Synopsis Lacustrine Sandstone Reservoirs and Hydrocarbon Systems by : Olive W. Baganz
Download or read book Lacustrine Sandstone Reservoirs and Hydrocarbon Systems written by Olive W. Baganz and published by AAPG. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many publications on lacustrine systems concentrate on reconstructing paleo-environments, deciphering paleoclimate or estimating hydrocarbon source potential. This is the first memoir to give attention to describing the occurrence, distribution and character of sandstones in various lake settings. The memoir is divided into four sections beginning with a global overview, and followed by two sections covering lacustrine systems in compressional and extensional regimes, and concludes with a series of papers on modern lake regimes.
Book Synopsis From Depositional Systems to Sedimentary Successions on the Norwegian Continental Margin by : Allard W. Martinius
Download or read book From Depositional Systems to Sedimentary Successions on the Norwegian Continental Margin written by Allard W. Martinius and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-07-18 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), focus of this special publication, is a prolific hydrocarbon region and both exploration and production activity remains high to this day with a positive production outlook. A key element today and in the future is to couple technological developments to improving our understanding of specific geological situations. The theme of the publication reflects the immense efforts made by all industry operators and their academic partners on the NCS to understand in detail the structural setting, sedimentology and stratigraphy of the hydrocarbon bearing units and their source and seal. The papers cover a wide spectrum of depositional environments ranging from alluvial fans to deepwater fans, in almost every climate type from arid through humid to glacial, and in a variety of tectonic settings. Special attention is given to the integration of both analogue studies and process-based models with the insights gained from extensive subsurface datasets.

Book Synopsis Fluvial Depositional Systems by : Andrew Miall
Download or read book Fluvial Depositional Systems written by Andrew Miall and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-23 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to complement the author's 1996 book "The geology of fluvial deposits", not to replace it. The book summarizes methods of mapping and interpretation of fluvial depositional systems, with a detailed treatment of the tectonic, climatic and eustatic controls on fluvial depositional processes. It focuses on the preserved, ancient depositional record and emphasizes large-scale (basin-scale) depositional processes. Tectonic and climatic controls of fluvial sedimentation and the effects of base-level change on sequence architecture are discussed. Profusely illustrated and with an extensive reference to the recent literature, this book will be welcomed by the student and professional geologist alike.
Book Synopsis Sediment-Body Geometry and Heterogeneity by : A.W. Martinius
Download or read book Sediment-Body Geometry and Heterogeneity written by A.W. Martinius and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2014-07-28 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past 20 years there has been a major growth in efforts to quantify the geometry and dimensions of sediment bodies from analogues to provide quantitative input to geological models. The aim of this volume is to examine the current state of the art, from both an industry and an academic perspective. Contributions discuss the challenges of extracting relevant data from different types of sedimentary analogue (outcrop, process models, seismic) and the application and significance of such information for improving predictions from subsurface static and dynamic models. Special attention is given to modelling reservoir properties and gridding issues for predicting subsurface fluid flow. As such, the volume is expected to be of interest to both the geoscience community concerned with the fundamentals of sedimentary architecture as well as geological modellers and engineers interested in how these characteristics are modelled and influence subsurface predictions.
