Nichts ist beständig außer dem Wandel. Das Leben ist Veränderung. Ohne Veränderung wären Wachstum und Entwicklung unserer Kultur unmöglich. Veränderung bedeutet immer, etwas Bestehendes aufzugeben. Auch Unternehmen und die Mitarbeiter, die dort arbeiten, befinden sich in einem stetigen Wandel. Die Gründe für Changeprozesse liegen hauptsächlich in der Reorganisation von Organisationen, in Wachstumsinitiativen des Unternehmens und in einzuführenden IT-Innovationen. Leider scheitern fast siebzig Prozent der Veränderungsprozesse in Organisationen. Nicht jeder steht einem Wandel immer positiv gegenüber. Viele Menschen begegnen der Veränderung mit Angst und Misstrauen. Diese Widerstände sind ganz normale Begleiterscheinungen des Wandels und haben vielerlei Ursachen. Mangelnde oder fehlerhafte Kommunikation führt dazu, dass die Mitarbeiter die Notwendigkeit der Veränderung nicht verstehen. Ebenso bringen unklare Verantwortlichkeiten und nicht vorhandene Unterstützung durch die oberste Führungsebene Widerstände seitens der Arbeitnehmer mit sich. Um diesen Risiken entgegenzuwirken, ist das Change Management in Unternehmen unabdingbar. Mit Hilfe des Veränderungsmanagements lassen sich kulturelle, strukturelle und organisatorische Veränderungen lenken. Dadurch können Widerstände minimiert oder sogar beseitigt werden. Die wichtigsten Grundlagen für einen erfolgreichen Wandel im Unternehmen bilden eine für die Veränderung positiv gegenüberstehende Unternehmenskultur, ein kompetentes Change Management-Team und vor allem eine zielgruppenorientierte Kommunikation. Das größte Problem bei Veränderungsprozessen stellt die erfolgreiche Umsetzung dar. In dieser Arbeit wird zuerst auf das Change Management eingegangen. Daraufhin werden Modelle zur nachhaltigen Umsetzung von Changeprozessen aufgezeigt. In Bezug auf die vorhergehende Theorie wird zum Schluss beispielhaft ein Changeprojekt zum Zusammenwachsen verschiedener „Organisationseinheiten" an einem Standort erarbeitet.
