This book was released on 1998-10-01 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the constitutional and political reforms in Central and Eastern Europe of the last decade, the time has now come for the whole-scale reform of public administration and the creation of a professional civil service. What is needed is a clear sense of the objectives to be achieved by the administration; and the provision of adequate resources to perform the tasks of public administration. In addition, and perhaps most importantly of all, there must be a sound legal basis for public administration. Recognizing these realities, this book examines administrative law and administrative institutions in Central and Eastern Europe. In a series of case studies, discussing each country in the region in turn, it looks at the ways in which a range of administrative decisions are reached and at how the citizens affected by them are treated. The material for each of the fourteen chapters was collected by a person or persons native to the respective country.

This book was released on 2019-05-31 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intellectual property law faces serious challenges worldwide, with many in the international community arguing that the law fails to provide much-needed support for either individual rights or the public interest in the technological environment. The Cambridge Handbook of Intellectual Property in Central and Eastern Europe offers a novel look at intellectual property issues through the lens of the post-socialist and transitional experience in Central and Eastern European countries. Contributors include both recognized and emerging leaders in their jurisdictions of interest, and experts on US, European Union, and international law. Taken together, they offer a thought-provoking critique of current approaches and build a compelling case for cogent policymaking. This important work reflects the formative experiences of a difficult history, demonstrating the courageous optimism of scholars in a region that has repeatedly overcome the challenges of the past, while consistently looking to its authors and innovators for leadership and inspiration.

Book Synopsis European Human Rights Law by : Mark W. Janis
Download or read book European Human Rights Law written by Mark W. Janis and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 1015 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of European Human Rights Law: Text and Materials has been substantially expanded to provide a complete review of the wide range of rights the Convention protects, with new chapters on the right to life, property, discrimination, religious freedom, and education. The book introduces both the process and the substance of this increasingly important area of European law. A broad selection of extracts from essential cases and materials is accompanied by stimulating commentary that guides the reader through the legal rules and court system that have evolved in Strasbourg, how the court works, and how European human rights law is enforced both at the national and international level. European human rights law is also placed into a useful comparative framework alongside human rights cases decided by courts in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere. This third edition has been extensively updated to cover the major developments of recent years, including the reform of the European Court of Human Rights and the expansion of the system to central and eastern Europe.
