Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shelly White, a small-town girl from Georgia, has her life forever changed when she is diagnosed with cancer at the age of 8. Her miraculous recovery from a malignant tumor at St. Theresa's Children's Hospital in Atlanta, and watching her roommate die, puts her on a path to wipe out cancer in her lifetime so no one else has to suffer. Her only true love as she grows up is the children she now calls her patients, until a chance meeting with a local advertising executive, Nick Harris, blossoms. With a savvy marketing campaign, together they find out there is one man who may have the formula to eradicate the disease. But time is running out. The elderly man is in hiding as he knows his life is in danger. His secret could put thousands of people out of work and destroy the riches of many pharmaceutical companies. Shelly and Nick will need to go all the way to the top for favors if they are ever to find the elderly man--and the cure for cancer. Author Mark Spinicelli and ghostwriter Kevin Fritz bring real-life experiences and emotions into the body of this novel, as cancer has sadly taken the lives of many of their family members. Mark lost his sister, Kristin, who was much too young, and Kevin has lost his father, aunt, uncle and grandmother to the disease. Catching A Miracle was created to offer hope to those who are afflicted with this disease, as well as those who endure watching the pain and suffering, and eventually the life slipping away from their loved ones. The notion of giving hope that a cure is out there is not far-fetched, which could turn this fictional read into reality. A report in 2011 claimed scientists at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada, discovered the cure, but it has yet to materialize. Israeli scientists have found rat cells secrete a substance that destroys cancer cells in humans. There is hope, and they can see the light.

They showed me how to use my giving as a seed I was planting, and to expect God to multiply it even if it took a miracle.” The Miracle of Seed-Faith has revolutionized the lives of millions of people. As you read it, let God show you how you can get your needs met through His eternal plan of seedtime and harvest, sowing and reaping, giving and receiving. Man’s economic systems may fail, but God’s plan never does. By getting into the rhythm of Seed-Faith living, you’ll learn that His more-than-enough resources are always available to you.

The investigation includes both the rhetoric within miracle discourse and the rhetorical role of miracle discourse as it was incorporated into the larger works in which it is now a part. The volume also examines the social, cultural, religious, political, and ideological associations that miracle discourse had in the first-century Mediterranean world, bringing these insights to bear on the broader questions of early Christian origins. The contributors are L. Gregory Bloomquist, Wendy Cotter, David A. deSilva, Davina C. Lopez, Gail O'Day, Todd Penner, Vernon K. Robbins, and Duane F. Watson.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing in the tradition of biblical exegetes, such as St John Chrysostom and Blessed Theophylact of Bulgaria, the work of Archbishop Averky (Taushev) provides a commentary that is firmly grounded in the teaching of the Church, manifested in its liturgical hymnography and the works of the Holy Fathers. Analyzing all four Gospels chronologically and simultaneously, he allows readers to see the life of Christ as an unfolding narrative in accessible, direct language. Using the best of prerevolutionary Russian sources, these writings also remained abreast of developments in Western biblical scholarship, engaging with it directly and honestly. He approaches the Gospels first and foremost not as a literary work of antiquity, but as the revelation of Jesus Christ as God in the flesh. Archbishop Averky's commentaries on the New Testament have become standard textbooks in Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary and have been published in Russia to widespread acclaim. This present volume is the first translation of these texts into English and it is an indispensable addition to the library of every student of the Gospels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our age of theological relativism, Jesus' question to His own disciples continues to ring true: "Who do the people say that the Son of Man is?" Through Jesus' seven miracles and His seven "I Am" sayings, the apostle John provides a clear answer to that all-important question. Furthermore, what do Jesus' miracles represent? Are they designed to point to something or someone? In our "supernatural-crazed" culture that affects even evangelical Christianity, it is refreshing to be reminded that biblical miracles were never arbitrary but were always purposeful, authenticating God's message and His messenger(s). In the Gospel of John, the miracles of Jesus are both Christological, that is, they highlight Jesus' Person, and eschatological, that is, they foreshadow the work the Messiah will do in His future Advent. The miracles remind us that God's desire for every believer is first and foremost a spiritual relationship with Him through His Son. Furthermore, Jesus' miracles also remind us that God's work in and for every believer will be fully and ultimately realized in the everlasting life.

But what if you have already asked God for a miracle and he has not responded? My Own Miracle documents how God heals all believers and that his answer is never no. This book illustrates how God always answers a believers request for a miracle but does so in a way that is unique to that individual. My Own Miracle scripturally documents what God has done in the past and what he continues to do today. It takes you on a journey of one mans search for a miracle and the lessons learned along the way. Just as each of us is a unique creation, so too are his wondrous ways of granting miracles and healings. The very same God that spoke the worlds into existence is ready and waiting to grant you your own miracle too!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The core contention of The Legitimacy of Miracle is that a priori philosophical dismissals of the possibility or probability of justified belief in miracles fail. Whether or not it is rational to believe that events best understood as miracles actually occur is not to be decided on the basis of armchair theorizing, but rather on the basis of meticulous examination of the evidence. Such examination, however, needs to be set free from unwarranted assumptions that miracles are “impossible, improbable, or improper.” Philosophical analysis can play an important role in clearing away conceptual underbrush and question-begging presuppositions, but it cannot take the place of detailed consideration of historical and contemporary evidence. Robert Larmer demonstrates that the proper role of philosophy, as regards to the belief in miracles, is to provide an in-principle rejection of in-principle arguments either for or against. The arguments contained in this book will be of particular interest to students and scholars of philosophy, theology, history, and religious studies, though it is written in a style accessible to anyone interested in a philosophical examination of belief in miracles.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. It is filled with the revelation concerning the processed Triune God, the living Christ, the life-giving Spirit, the experience of life, and the definition and practice of the church. In this set Brother Lee has kept three basic principles that should rule and govern every believer in their interpretation, development, and expounding of the truths contained in the Scriptures. The first principle is that of the Triune God dispensing Himself into His chosen and redeemed people; the second principle is that we should interpret, develop, and expound the truths contained in the Bible with Christ for the church; and the third governing principle is Christ, the Spirit, life, and the church. No other study or exposition of the New Testament conveys the life nourishment or ushers the reader into the divine revelation of God’s holy Word according to His New Testament economy as this one does.
