Download or read book Method For Selective Catalytic Reduction Of Nitrogen Oxides written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method for catalytically reducing nitrogen oxide compounds (NO.sub.x, defined as nitric oxide, NO, +nitrogen dioxide, NO.sub. 2) in a gas by a material comprising a base metal consisting essentially of CuO and Mn, and oxides of Mn, on an activated metal hydrous metal oxide support, such as HMO:Si. A promoter, such as tungsten oxide or molybdenum oxide, can be added and has been shown to increase conversion efficiency. This method provides good conversion of NO.sub.x to N.sub. 2, good selectivity, good durability, resistance to SO.sub. 2 aging and low toxicity compared with methods utilizing vanadia-based catalysts.

This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A hydrothermally stable dual-catalyst aftertreatment system for emission control of nitrogen oxides (NOx) with lower hydrocarbons (CHx) has been developed for natural gas-fired stationary lean-burn engines. The dual-catalyst system consists of a physical mixture of a reduction catalyst, palladium supported on sulfated zirconia (Pd/SZ) and an oxidation catalyst, cobalt oxide supported on ceria, CoOx/CeO2. The multifunctional aftertreatment system oxidizes nitric oxide (NO) to nitrogen dioxide (NO2), reduces NO2 to nitrogen (N2), and oxidizes carbon monoxide (CO) and the unutilized hydrocarbons. For practical applications in environmental catalysis, the catalytically active powder catalyst needs to be wash-coated onto a monolith core. To prevent permanent loss of activity due to physical separation of the wash-coat from the walls of the monolith core, adhesivity enhancing materials (binders) are added to the wash-coat. A novel method of incorporating binder to the active catalyst in situ during sol-gel synthesis is presented in this work. Alumina binder incorporated into Pd/SZ in situ during sol-gel synthesis was chosen for further development of a catalytically active washcoat based on activity tests under simulated engine-exhaust conditions. The alumina binder-incorporated Pd/SZ catalyst slurry controlled at pH 1 and calcined at 700°C demonstrated the most promising NOx reduction and CH4 oxidation activity. Cyclic thermal shock tests demonstrated enhanced adhesive properties of the wash-coat to the walls of the cordierite monolith core. Thus, a catalytically active wash-coat with superior adhesive properties was developed for practical application in a real-world aftertreatment unit.
Book Synopsis Catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Dioxide by : Peter Breisacher
Download or read book Catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Dioxide written by Peter Breisacher and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The feasibility of using a noble metal catalytic reactor to treat the effluents from a scrubber or incinerator treating N2O4/NO2 at space shuttle launch sites and other STS facilities has been explored experimentally in the laboratory. The major objective of the test program is to measure the efficiency of reduction of NO2 at concentrations of a few thousand parts per million in an inert gas diluent to threshold limit value levels. The catalytic reduction is accomplished with an admixture of CO to the NO2 diluent gas mixture. (Author).

Book Synopsis Electro-catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides by :
Download or read book Electro-catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitrogen oxides have been linked to a broad range of air pollution problems including acid rain and the atmospheric production of photochemical ozone. Over twenty million tons of nitrogen oxides are emitted into the atmosphere each year as a result of the high temperature combustion of fossil fuels. Efforts to control nitrogen oxides emissions have lagged because of the generally low discharge concentrations of nitrogen oxides in combustion exhaust and because nitrogen oxides are more difficult to remove due to their lower reactivity. No catalyst has yet been found that will achieve significant reduction of nitrogen oxides in an oxidizing environment. Oxygen in the exhaust stream competes with nitrogen oxides for the active catalyst sites. Also, the dissociated oxygen atoms produced by decomposition of nitrogen oxides deactivate the surface of the catalyst. Externally applied electric fields have been used to control oxygen adsorption on metal and semi-conductor surfaces. In this investigation, a stream containing nitric oxide has been subjected to intense electric fields in the presence of catalyst materials including steel, stainless steel, and gold plated stainless steel wools and glass wool. The electric fields have been generated using DC, AC and rectified AC potentials in the range of 0--20 KV. The effect of parameters such as inlet nitric oxide concentration, oxygen and water content, gas residence time and temperature have also been studied.

This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Clean Coal Technology Demo. Program (CCTDP) is an effort to demonstrate a new generation of innovative coal utilization processes in a series of facilities built across the country. These projects are carried out on a commercial scale to prove technical feasibility and provide the info. required for future applications. Projects have demonstrated technical options with the potential to meet the needs of energy markets while satisfying environ. requirements. Part of this program is the demo. of technologies designed to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from existing coal-fired utility boilers. This report summarizes the status of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology for the control of NOx emissions from high-sulfur, coal-fired boilers. Illus.
