Book Synopsis Nonlinear Analysis of Structures (1997) by : Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy
Download or read book Nonlinear Analysis of Structures (1997) written by Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Analysis of Structures presents a complete evaluation of the nonlinear static and dynamic behavior of beams, rods, plates, trusses, frames, mechanisms, stiffened structures, sandwich plates, and shells. These elements are important components in a wide variety of structures and vehicles such as spacecraft and missiles, underwater vessels and structures, and modern housing. Today's engineers and designers must understand these elements and their behavior when they are subjected to various types of loads. Coverage includes the various types of nonlinearities, stress-strain relations and the development of nonlinear governing equations derived from nonlinear elastic theory. This complete guide includes both mathematical treatment and real-world applications, with a wealth of problems and examples to support the text. Special topics include a useful and informative chapter on nonlinear analysis of composite structures, and another on recent developments in symbolic computation. Designed for both self-study and classroom instruction, Nonlinear Analysis of Structures is also an authoritative reference for practicing engineers and scientists. One of the world's leaders in the study of nonlinear structural analysis, Professor Sathyamoorthy has made significant research contributions to the field of nonlinear mechanics for twenty-seven years. His foremost contribution to date has been the development of a unique transverse shear deformation theory for plates undergoing large amplitude vibrations and the examination of multiple mode solutions for plates. In addition to his notable research, Professor Sathyamoorthy has also developed and taught courses in the field at universities in India, Canada, and the United States.

Book Synopsis Six Degrees of Freedom by : Peter Carlisle Hughes
Download or read book Six Degrees of Freedom written by Peter Carlisle Hughes and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2021-06-16 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Octogenarian aerospace engineer Peter Hughes identified 6 critical points in his life at which an important decision was required, and where the rest of his life could have been quite different, depending on that decision. In every case, he was completely free to make the decision. In Six Degrees of Freedom, Hughes reflects on a full lifetime, including several work environments, his contributions to the aerospace industry (including work on the Canadarm), a passion for applied mathematics, family life, business and entrepreneurship, travel experience, and medical science. In so doing, and through his wry humor, he provides the reader thoughtful insight and useful life and career lessons.
Book Synopsis Introductory Attitude Dynamics by : F.P.J. Rimrott
Download or read book Introductory Attitude Dynamics written by F.P.J. Rimrott and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the preface: "The present text deals with attitude dynamics and is devoted to satellites of finite size. It begins with a discussion of the inertia moment tensor, Euler's law, Euler's angles, Euler's equations, and Euler's frequencies. After that a thorough treatment of the concept of centre of gravity versus centre of mass is given. After libration has been discussed and gyrodynamics proper has been dealt with, the attitude of the moment-free satellite, including the gyrostat, is studied. Particular attention is paid to the attitude behaviour of torquefree single and dual spinners, and the new collinearity theorems are introduced and explored to predict attitude stability and attitude drift. The derivation of each significant formula is followed by the discussion of a practical sample problem in order to acquaint the student with typical situations, typical results, and typical numerical values. There are numerous problems following each chapter. The most important data and the answers to the problems are compiled in appendices."

Book Synopsis Analysis of the Three-dimensional Compressible Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Sharp Cone at Incidence in Supersonic and Hypersonic Flow by : John C. Adams
Download or read book Analysis of the Three-dimensional Compressible Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Sharp Cone at Incidence in Supersonic and Hypersonic Flow written by John C. Adams and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical approach toward numerical calculation of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary layer on a sharp cone at incidence under supersonic and hypersonic flow conditions is presented. The theoretical model is based on implicit finite-difference integration of the governing three-dimensional turbulent boundary-layer equations in conjunction with a three-dimensional scalar eddy-viscosity model of turbulence. Comparison is made of present theory with detailed experimental measurements of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary-layer structure (velocity and temperature profiles), the surface streamline direction (obtained via an oil-flow technique) and surface heat-transfer rate.

Book Synopsis Noise Sources in Turbulent Shear Flows: Fundamentals and Applications by : Roberto Camussi
Download or read book Noise Sources in Turbulent Shear Flows: Fundamentals and Applications written by Roberto Camussi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-02-11 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The articles in this volume present the state-of-the-art in noise prediction, modeling and measurement. The articles are partially based on class notes provided during the course `Noise sources in turbulent shear flows', given at CISM on April 2011. The first part contains general concepts of aero acoustics, including vortex sound theory and acoustic analogies, in the second part particular emphasis is put into arguments of interest for engineers and relevant for aircraft design: jet noise, airfoil broadband noise, boundary layer noise (including interior noise and its control) and the concept of noise sources, their theoretical modeling and identification in turbulent lows. All these arguments are treated extensively with the inclusion of many practical examples and references to engineering applications.
