McLandon sent his five older children to Gallatin, Tennessee, to help his sister, Marie Wingate. Marie is pregnant and is due to have her baby in less than a month. Marie needed help on the Wingate Farm and help with keeping up with her household chores. After a week, Marie sent McLandon a telegram to come get his children. They were more work than help to her. Marie had to teach the three girls basic household chores, and the two boys didn't want to do any barn or fieldwork. The boys kept getting into trouble. After learning that his children didn't know how to do anything useful around the house or farm, he decided to move his family to the country. McLandon and his help man and friend, Amos Burke, were told about a farm in Gallatin that might be exactly what he was looking for. McLandon heard talk of war coming to this country, and he wanted his family to be prepared for when that happened. McLandon wanted his family to be able to preserve the food that they grew and be able to put it in hiding for when war broke out. If they stayed in Nashville, the army would take all the food, and there wouldn't even be food to buy. MaryAnn was in all the high-society clubs and goings on in Nashville to the point that she had spoiled her older children and neglected the three younger ones. She had spoiled her children, letting the domestic help do all the household chores and taking care of the three little ones. McLandon and his family are going to learn to earn a living by the sweat of their brow.

Download or read book ME and SAM written by LeRoy Crume and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-03-06 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of a skinny little country boy, born in a little community called, Swift, Missouri. Swift wasn’t big enough to be a town. It was just a dusty piece of farm land just off highway 61. That is not even charted on the map anymore. My Dad was a farmer. Not unlike most black men during that time in the south. He earned his living, (that is, if you could call it a living) by the sweat of his brow, plowing up farmland during the fall of the year, and planting come the spring of the year, and then came harvesting time a few months later. That was the ritual for blacks, and a few whites for the rest of their lives. That is, unless they were fortunate like some others, and got a chance to leave that hell hole called a farm. My dad, I’m sure like his father, and grand father before him did the same thing. Walking behind a plow and mules, planting then came the chopping of the cotton and after that came the picking of the cotton. Now that was a life’s ritual from the time you were big enough to walk and talk until you were ready for the grave. What a life. Now the Crume’s were fortunate enough to break that cycle at some point in life .

THE AUTHOR from the INTRODUCTION The Colour of Love is a very powerful and necessary book dealing with the healing of Racism. Throughout the story, I recommend that everyone should read every single word of this book! It will challenge your beliefs, and change your life! It has already blessed me both spiritually and mentally in ways that I cannot find words for. I felt a most tremendous joy release as I finished reading every page of it. I know from personal experience the awesome relationship that Anne has with God, and it has brought me closer to Him as well. This book helped me and it will surely help you too! All other readers already have complimented Anne on how her Novel has helped them to re-examine themselves, and has brought healing to many. Please make note of that one point that says, "True love sees no colour...No colour at all." God sees me the same as he sees you or any other person. Notice her opening Scripture from I Samuel 16:7. That should be more than enough to cause us to realize that Love is not of the skin, but of the heart. He looks at the heart of a person, and not their outer appearance. One Chapter that touched my heart so deeply is when Lisa (who is Anne mind you) prayed for Yosef's father Rabbi Epstein in the hospital. And the results were miraculous! I just want to say in closing that, I commend Anne on her labor of Love for God, and allowing Him to use her to write such a very much needed story. Anne may God continue to bless you in all that you do for Him, and His Kingdome. God bless you richly dear. Your sister in Christ. Evang. Jarry Turner.

Powerless to resist taking the once-in-a-lifetime experience to its extreme, she gains the attention of Police Officer Connor Daeman-an encounter that proves life-changing for both in ways neither could imagine. A fast-flowing chain of events rapidly unfolds; enthralling, hold-yourbreath occurrences that lead inexorably to what will be called the trial of the century-a powerful courtroom drama, as provocative as it is divisive, that pits two of the world's finest lawyers against each other in a contest that puts everything on the line, with the potential to abolish centuries of hard-earned rights for millions. It is a trial, controversial, incendiary, and tainted with madness, that sets the stage to blow the lid off the naïve belief that there are some things that just can't happen in America. Suspenseful, alarming, and destined for controversy, Decision and Dissent is to be counted among those rare novels that require courage on the part of the reader; virtually every page will affect the reader like no story he or she has ever read before. Explosive action, humour, and provocative points of view expressed by characters who leap to life will hold the reader spellbound to the very last page.
