Book excerpt: "Carlton fans adored him for his ability to win games off his own boot; opponents admired him for his seemingly superhuman feats. And today, AFL coaches still scour the fields for rookies of his ilk. But there's only one Anthony Koutoufides. For sixteen years, Kouta's name echoed throughout the stands. His one-handed pick-up brought him to the attention of his coach, but his strong mark, beautiful kick and sheer athleticism won over all the fans. A premiership player and twice All-Australian, Kouta certainly found success but his career wasn't always a fairytale. Chronic injuries restricted his game, personal tragedy left him reeling and when he was made captain, he had to lead the club through some of its darkest days. To farewell the game, Kouta tells all the pressures of mounting expectation, club politics, drug allegations and the changing face of football. He recounts his journey from the early days in Lalor to the big lights and pay packets of a national league, where controversy pops up at the slightest provocation. Insightful and entertaining, Kouta is a candid look at our beloved game from perhaps the greatest player of his era."--Provided by publisher.

This book was released on 2014-07-30 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Army chaplains have long played an integral part in America’s armed forces. In addition to conducting chapel activities on military installations and providing moral and spiritual support on the battlefield, they conduct memorial services for fallen soldiers, minister to survivors, offer counsel on everything from troubled marriages to military bureaucracy, and serve as families’ points of contact for wounded or deceased soldiers—all while risking the dangers of combat alongside their troops. In this thoughtful study, Anne C. Loveland examines the role of the army chaplain since World War II, revealing how the corps has evolved in the wake of cultural and religious upheaval in American society and momentous changes in U.S. strategic relations, warfare, and weaponry. From 1945 to the present, Loveland shows, army chaplains faced several crises that reshaped their roles over time. She chronicles the chaplains’ initiation of the Character Guidance program as a remedy for the soaring rate of venereal disease among soldiers in occupied Europe and Japan after World War II, as well as chaplains’ response to the challenge of increasing secularism and religious pluralism during the “culture wars” of the Vietnam Era.“Religious accommodation,” evangelism and proselytizing, public prayer, and “spiritual fitness”provoked heated controversy among chaplains as well as civilians in the ensuing decades. Then, early in the twenty-first century, chaplains themselves experienced two crisis situations: one the result of the Vietnam-era antichaplain critique, the other a consequence of increasing religious pluralism, secularization, and sectarianism within the Chaplain Corps, as well as in the army and the civilian religious community. By focusing on army chaplains’ evolving, sometimes conflict-ridden relations with military leaders and soldiers on the one hand and the civilian religious community on the other, Loveland reveals how religious trends over the past six decades have impacted the corps and, in turn, helped shape American military culture.

To help you re-focus toward building reserves and capacity in the critical areas of life that matter. To work towards freedom, financial security, improved health, better relationships and profound happiness. Success isn’t just about money, possessions, looks, accolades or trophies. It shouldn’t be defined by achievement in one area at the expense of any of the other vital areas. Real success is a matter of balance, which can only be made possible through personal growth, self-regulation and discipline, without compromise. Rich Happy Strong Free isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme or five-minute abs pitch. Expect a pragmatic approach that may well “call-you-out” on the very things that are holding you back from taking complete control of your world. Is it time to face your future? I say, yes. Enjoy the book, Peter A. Charlesworth.

Book excerpt: 'The aim of this book is to provide both managers wishing to run ’in team’ exercises and those entering the training profession with a practical guide to delivering successful developmental events', says Martin Orridge in the Preface. He writes as an experienced trainer and consultant, producing a very human guide to the realities of running a training event. In a brief introductory section he explains the need for training and the benefits it can bring. Part 1 of the main text shows how to design a successful training session and Part 2 deals in detail with preparation and delivery. At the end is a collection of model documents and forms that can be used at various stages of the training cycle. The text includes tips, tools, checklists, examples and exercises throughout, together with real-life anecdotal ’cameos’ to help make the points memorable. Martin Orridge’s style is at all times practical and friendly. How to Deliver Training will be welcomed not only by professional trainers, but by all managers and team leaders concerned with staff development.
