This concern centres on environmental and health issues and inadvertent damage that can be done to off-target species. A national set of competencies has been developed for the use of chemicals. SMARTtrain is one of the training programs that delivers these competencies. The training program is offered at four levels: Australian Qualification Framework, AQF levels. This course is designed at AQF level 3 and people who successfully complete the course will receive two units of competency and be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a chemical users card. Level III Chemical Application courses are suited to people who are responsible for the purchase and application of pesticides without supervision. This includes owner-operators, local government and government employees and contractors. In-class learning activities are included that will assist the learner to gain knowledge and the ability to interpret labels and SDSs, apply, transport and store chemicals safely, and complete records to comply with legislation. Book excerpt: The COVER extension to the Stand Prognosis Model predicts tree canopy closure, crown volume, crown profile area, and foliage biomass within vertical height classes, and the probability of occurrence, height, and cover of shrubs in forest stands. The model may be used to produce a descriptive summary of a stand at the time of inventory, or to project overstory and understory characteristics through time for natural and managed stands. This paper documents use of the COVER program, an adjunct to Version 5.0 of the Prognosis Model. Preparation of input, interpretation of output, program control, and model characteristics are described. Potential applications of COVER estimates to wildlife, hydrology, and insect pest modeling are presented.

Book Synopsis Automotive Quality Systems Handbook by : David Hoyle
Download or read book Automotive Quality Systems Handbook written by David Hoyle and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-07-28 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Automotive Quality Systems Handbook is a step-by-step guide to interpreting and implementing the ISO/TS 16949. Accepted by major vehicle manufacturers as an alternative to the existing US, German, French and Italian automotive quality system requirements, this Technical Specification defines specific requirements for the application of ISO 9001: 1994 throughout the automotive supply chain. While initially the standard will be voluntary, for the first time, second and third tier suppliers may be faced with pressure to undergo third party registration. After the year 2000, the next version of the standard has actually replaced the four existing standards, (AVSQ, EAQF, QS-9000 and VDA 6 1) and the price of entry to the global automotive market is conformance to this new standard. This handbook is an essential and comprehensive guide to enable organizations to interpret and implement the ISO/TS 16949. Unlike other books on the subject, each element, clause and requirement is analyzed in detail with guidance provided for its implementation. The handbook is written primarily for implementers and discerning managers, for instructors and auditors and contains a range of solutions that would be acceptable in the automobile industry. It includes details of the certification scheme, the differences with existing standards, check lists, questionnaires, tips for implementers, flow charts and a glossary of terms. This book gives more than an overview, it tells how you to do it! Contains detailed instructions and check-lists for implementation Addresses all ISO requirements

Book Synopsis Dietary Supplements by : Katja Berginc
Download or read book Dietary Supplements written by Katja Berginc and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-11-24 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dietary supplements made from foods, herbs and their constituents are a rapidly growing market sector. Consumers often view food supplements as ‘natural’ and therefore safe; however, supplements are regulated as foods rather than as pharmaceuticals and so are not as closely monitored as may be necessary. With the commercial market in these products growing, this book provides essential research into their safety, efficacy and potential risk of interaction with pharmaceuticals. Following an introductory chapter, part one covers the chemical composition, manufacture and regulation of dietary supplements. Part two looks at the effectiveness of different types of dietary supplement and methods of evaluation. Finally, part three focuses on supplement safety. Reviews the design, production and regulation of dietary supplements. Analyses the potential for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics interactions between dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals. Offers reviews of important clinical studies on the efficacy of dietary supplements for range of conditions.
