Book Synopsis Sylvia Pankhurst by : Richard Pankhurst
Download or read book Sylvia Pankhurst written by Richard Pankhurst and published by Tsehai Publishers. This book was released on 2003 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sylvia Pankhurst, British Suffragette, devoted the last forty years of her life to fighting fascism and supporting Ethiopia, for many centuries Africa's principal independent state. She responded to Mussolini's invasion of the country in 1935 by founding a weekly newspaper called the New Times and Ethiopia News, which she edited for twenty years. Her paper condemned Britain's "appeasement" of the Axis Dictators, and supported the Republican Government in the Spanish Civil War. After Mussolini's entry into the European War, on the side of Nazi Germany, she agitated against the return to Italy of her African colonies. Ever against colonialism, she clashed with the British Government in demanding the full restoration of Ethiopian independence and advocated the "reunion" of the former Italian colony of Eritrea with Ethiopia. She raised funds for Ethiopia's first teaching hospital and wrote extensively on Ethiopian art and culture. Having moved to Addis Ababa in 1956, with her son, the author of this book, she founded a monthly journal called the Ethiopia Observer, which focused on many aspects of Ethiopian life and development. She died in 1960 and was buried with the Ethiopian Patriots, in front of Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa, and in the presence of the Emperor.

Book Synopsis How Not to Grow Up by : Richard Herring
Download or read book How Not to Grow Up written by Richard Herring and published by Random House. This book was released on 2011 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cringe-inducing misadventures of an immature man in an adult world Comedian Richard Herring has a major problem--he's about to turn 40 and hasn't seen it coming. He's not married, doesn't have a proper job, or 2.4 children, but now, finally, it looks as if the world expects him to be a grown up--and he is completely unprepared for it. As the momentous and terrifying event approaches (his birthday), Richard notices a steep decline in his own behavior. Inexplicably, he begins to behave more childishly--hanging out with 22-year-olds, developing an unhealthy addiction to kids' television shows, and even getting into a ludicrous fight. This is the hilarious story of how a self-confessed perpetual Big Kid deals with his greatest fear--getting older--and is the perfect book for everyone who, deep down, still thinks that they're 18.
