The results indicated values and beliefs provide meaning for ethical leaders and guide their beliefs around what is right and what is wrong. It is recommended that organizational cultures focus more on individual beliefs around ethical decision making as opposed to organizational rules or policies regarding conduct.

In Ethical Leadership, Aidan McQuade provides insight into the concept of human agency – the individual’s choice of a course of action in response to the options posed by that individual’s engagement with the social world.
