Book Synopsis From Across the Pond by : Michael T. Bellinger
Download or read book From Across the Pond written by Michael T. Bellinger and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2023-09-14 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book The instant attraction and love that Matthew Baldwin and Chloe Singh feel for each other during their first in-person meeting at the beginning of From Across the Pond fuels the rapid development of their relationship. The couple’s past romantic relationships with their friend Kelly Bonner, along with other temptations, add wrinkles and drama to their story. As all of these relationships develop, evolve, and become interconnected, they rub against the grain of societal and family norms, which creates drama and some suspense in the novel. It is hopeful that readers will be able to see folks of different skin colors and ethnicities, folks in the LGBTQ community, and folks in interracial relationships in a more favorable and positive light. It’s time to let go of the fear that breeds the mistrust and hate and to embrace one another as equal members of the human race. It’s time to recognize that regardless of skin color, ethnicity, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation, no matter how big or small the contribution, everyone has something positive to offer to society and civilization. About the Author Despite having been declared legally blind for the past twenty years, Michael T. Bellinger has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Education. He has worked in public accounting as a CPA and in a parochial school as a volunteer classroom teacher, where he taught computers and technology to the K-thru-8 students. Michael enjoys listening to music and audiobooks, and his tastes in both are eclectic. He enjoys writing poetry when the inspiration hits him, and he is currently working on Book Five of the six-book series of From Across the Pond. Michael and his wife, Lisa, have been married for 31 years, and together they share two grown sons. They live in a small town in NJ.

Book Synopsis And Then Mama Said ... by : Tumi Morake
Download or read book And Then Mama Said ... written by Tumi Morake and published by Penguin Random House South Africa. This book was released on 2018-10-01 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tumi Morake modelled her public persona on her mother, a charming and contentious woman who used her big, bold voice to say what others were afraid to mention. It’s the personality that Tumi takes on stage in the mostly male space of stand-up comedy, and the one that gave her the courage to join a white, Afrikaans radio station and comment about apartheid on air. But there’s only so much you can find out about Tumi from the stage, the screen and the internet. And Then Mama Said ... is the voice of Tumi in private, as well as a behind-the-scenes perspective of a pioneering South African star who has been both deeply loved and viciously hated by her audiences. In her memoir, Tumi gets frank about the race row at Jacaranda FM; the Jaguar car accident that cyber bullies said she deserved; the body-shaming she endured on the set of Our Perfect Wedding; her tumultuous relationship with her beloved husband; and affords us a rare glimpse into South Africa’s glitzy but often ruthless entertainment industry. Throughout her story, she carries the voice of her mother, and with it the indispensable life lessons that made her who she is today.

Mama’s Child is story of an idealistic young white woman who travelled to the American South as a civil rights worker, fell in love with an African American man, and started a family in San Francisco, where the more liberal city embraced them—except when it didn’t. They raise a son and daughter, but the tensions surrounding them have a negative impact on their marriage, and they divorce when their children are still young. For their biracial daughter, this split further destabilizes her already challenged sense of self—“Am I black or white?” she must ask herself, “Where do I belong?” Is she her father’s daughter alone? As the years pass, the chasm between them widens, even as the mother attempts to hold on to the emotional chord that binds them. It isn’t until the daughter, Ruby, herself becomes a wife and mother that she begins to develop compassion and understanding for the many ways that her own mother’s love transcended race and questions of identity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praised by both Richard Wright and Ralph Ellison, this classic of Black literature is a brutal depiction of the Great Migration from the Jim Crow South This brutally gripping novel about the African-American Great Migration follows the three Moss brothers, who flee the rural South to work in industries up North. Delivered by day into the searing inferno of the steel mills, by night they encounter a world of surreal devastation, crowded with dogfighters, whores, cripples, strikers, and scabs. Keenly sensitive to character, prophetic in its depiction of environmental degradation and globalized labor, Attaway's novel is an unprecedented confrontation with the realities of American life, offering an apocalyptic vision of the melting pot not as an icon of hope but as an instrument of destruction. Blood on the Forge was first published in 1941, when it attracted the admiring attention of Richard Wright and Ralph Ellison. It is an indispensable account of a major turning point in black history, as well as a triumph of individual style, charged with the concentrated power and poignance of the blues.

Book Synopsis Medical, Genetic & Behavioral Risk Factors of American Staffordshire Terriers by : Dr. Ross D. Clark, DVM
Download or read book Medical, Genetic & Behavioral Risk Factors of American Staffordshire Terriers written by Dr. Ross D. Clark, DVM and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-10-25 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book (American Staffordshire Terrier) provides you with a through description and positive attributes of this breed including origin, purpose, history, normal heights and weights, acceptable colors and behavioral traits. Our books differ from most books on dog breeds because this book also provides you with a comprehensive and authoritative source of all the known predisposed hereditary health syndromes for the breed. You will find extensive references for each problem described. We also provide the breed club address for this breed and a list of laboratories and organizations that can provide professional help and information. As a small animal veterinarian, I have always been intrigued by the way dogs have been bred to fill a purpose in life and further impressed that they also tend to love performing that service. Greyhounds and other sight hounds are built for speed with aerodynamic bodies consisting of small head, deep chest, narrow waist and large leg muscles. On the other hand Dachshunds take their name from German words meaning “badger dog” and they use their long nose, long body and short legs to both track, enter and dig into badger dens. After developing a practice that catered to clients with show dogs, my interest in each breed continued to grow as I studied and observed more and more about the unique predisposition and incidence of health problems in each breed. Breeders of purebred dogs for show were a challenge and inspirational for me to research and help them with their unique health problems. Historically references to hereditary problems are scattered throughout various Veterinary medical texts and journals such as ophthalmology, neurology, gastroenterology, cardiovascular and dermatology. This book, as well as the other books and articles I have written, is researched and compiled with the intention to provide both veterinarians and dog owners with comprehensive and authoritative predisposition information under the breed name. At the date of this publication, The American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation and the The Kennel Club of England reports over 400 known hereditary health syndromes throughout the dog kingdom. At the writing of my first book in 1983, less than 50 hereditary issues are able to be predicted and or diagnosed. Sequencing of the canine genome, DNA tests, metabolic testing including blood tests and urine testing; plus, phenotypic examinations such as radiographs, ultrasound, and CERF or OFA eye registry exams by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist have advanced the science of breed related health and behavioral problems. This book will provide veterinarians, researchers, pet owners and breeders with a comprehensive guide to all the known problems veterinarians and dog owners should consider during pet selection and throughout each life stage of our canine friends
