Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nothing is easy about life above the Arctic Circle. Except, perhaps, falling in love. Bryson Faulkner embraces the challenges that come with making a home in one of the most beautiful but unforgiving places on earth: the isolation of the endless wilderness, the harsh and unpredictable climate, the predators that lurk about her remote cabin. And even the most perilous dangers of all—those that await her when she takes to the skies as one of Alaska’s most daring bush pilots. The only thing missing is a special woman to share it all with, but she’s resigned herself to the fact that few people can thrive in such an extreme environment. Everything Karla Edwards thought she knew gets called into question when a series of events turns her comfortable and well-ordered life on its ear. Her partner leaves her, her mother dies, and Karla learns she has a sister in Alaska she never knew. She takes a leave of absence from her job as an ER nurse in Atlanta and heads to the far north, seeking answers and adventure. She finds all that and more when she crosses paths with a sexy bush pilot who opens her eyes to new possibilities. But can she open her heart as well and learn to trust again?

Book excerpt: When an old friend asked him to write a weekly dispatch from New Hampshire for the Mail on Sunday's Night and Day magazine, Bill Bryson firmly turned him down. So firm was he, in fact, that gathered here are nineteen months' worth of his popular columns about the strangest of phenomena -- the American way of life.Whether discussing the dazzling efficiency of the garbage disposal unit, the mind-boggling plethora of methods by which to shop, the exoticism of having your groceries bagged for you, or the jaw-slackening direness of American TV, Bill Bryson brings his inimitable brand of bemused wit to bear on the world's richest and craziest country.

Although I enjoy a beer with friends and the occasional hookup, I like to be alone. My past isn't one of love or kindness; in fact, it's best left buried. I know I should avoid Hailee, but the harder I try, the more I find myself drawn to her. Hailee I'm a nervous wreck after being kidnapped, shot, and buried alive. Sutton has stood by my side and protected me from the press, which is only interested in getting my story—an exclusive—from me. My father enjoys being in the spotlight and is flying in from New York to make sure I do what I'm told. Before he arrives however, Sutton kidnaps me from the hospital, and this time, I’m a willing participant.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She never expected her hero to be the bad boy from her past… They hate each other. Or at least, Smith Sanders always believed Madelyn Lake hated him. But when the city plunges into darkness and he finds himself trapped in an elevator with the prim and ever-so-reserved Madelyn, he realizes that hate and desire can be twined dangerously close together. The simmering tension that has existed between them since they were sixteen years old explodes in a sensual frenzy that sweeps past their control. It won’t ever happen again. Power returns. So does sanity. They go their separate ways except…he can’t get her out of his head. Madelyn is haunting him, and Smith already has more than enough ghosts dodging his steps. But he goes back to her, helpless against a desire that won’t end, just in time to save her from a vicious attack. He never knew her at all. Madelyn’s whole life has been a lie. A carefully orchestrated cover to protect her from the monster in her past. Only now that monster has found her once more. Protection from the past comes in a most unlikely form—the ever so sarcastic and far too sexy Smith. Former Special Ops, Smith is vicious, deadly, and, quite possibly, the answer to her prayers. Needing him is dangerous. Falling for him? That’s so much worse. Madelyn is ready to stop the killer who has taken so much from her, but she can’t do it alone. She needs Smith’s help—Smith and the Ice Breakers, a diverse group of hunters who excel at solving cold cases. Madelyn has spent years pretending to be someone else, and Smith is her key to finally ending her nightmare. But ending that nightmare means returning to her blood-soaked past, fighting an enemy who thrives in the dark, and putting all of her faith in Smith’s callused hands. Her faith, and her heart. Because with every moment that passes, she finds herself starting to fall deeper and deeper for her unlikely hero…The bad boy from her youth is now the vicious protector who swears he will do anything to keep her safe. A cold case is about to get brought back to red-hot life as Madelyn and Smith team up to stop a killer. TRAPPED IN ICE is a steamy romance with twists, danger, and a hero who enjoys laughing in the face of danger. Smith is sarcastic, fierce, and totally about to fall for the good girl from his past. Years ago, Madelyn was always out of his reach—even as she starred in his fantasies—but this isn’t a fantasy any longer. She’s his now, and he will do whatever it takes to protect her. Buckle up and get ready for the ice to melt…

Chamberlain outlines many of the current water problems and lays out clear principles for action that engaged citizens from various traditions can undertake to meet the growing water challenges through conservation and water management policies. Book excerpt: The human mind can be a strange, scary, and an unpredictable place. It becomes a balancing act for Henry, a psychopath, whos mind rest heavily on the brink of madness. He lives with his stepbrother Caleb, and both have been raised by an overbearing selfish, and abusive Mother. The small 4'x6', dark room in the back of the basement brought back nothing but bad memories for Caleb. It was a secret room hidden behind some shelves that held canned fruit and vegtables. When Caleb's mother locked him in this room for any small discretion, he would try not to scream or yell, so that he could get something to eat. Mother told him if he was quiet, she would let Henry bring him some food. Henry would bring him two slices of bread and a mason jar of water once a day. His mother had kept him in here as long as three days before. Caleb remembered how he sat in the middle of the room, on the dirt floow in the darkness and sang every song he knew until his mouth was so dry he could hardly swallow. He had to ration his water. He would count as far as he could until he couldn't count anymore or lost track of what number he was on. He would recite bible verses that he knew from reding them every night. He would get sleepy but he was afraid to go to sleep because he was afraid something would crawl on him. He got used to the blackness. In the blackness, he could let go of feelings he had. He could cry as much as he wanted without someone telling him to shut up. He creid over the punishments his mother gave him, he cried over the death of his father, he cried because no one loved him, he cried because he hated the darkness. The kids at school made fun of him and called him fat. Sometimes he would pray and ask God to take him to heaven because he hated his life. Life at school was hard, then life at home was even harder. Why couldn't his mother just love him like she loved Henry? Henrys obsession with Bryson, a local 18 year old girl, is the catalyst for a series of events no one could predict. In his mind, she was the most beautiful girl in the world and she was his. He owned her, and no one else could ever have her. He vowed to kill anyone who stood in his way. He kidnapped Bryson and her twin sister Bria; the chain of events that follow will leave you glued to the story and wanting more.

Henry James himself once urged Roughead: “Keep on with them all please, and continue to beckon me along the gallery that I can’t tread alone and where, by your leave, I link my arm fraternally in yours: the gallery of sinister perspective just stretches in this manner straight away.” Here you will find such Roughead classics as My First Murder: Featuring Jessie King, the crime that fortuitously set Mr. Roughead’s steps toward matters criminous, Locusta in Scotland, a familiar survey of poisoning as practiced in the realm. The Fatal Countess, a Jacobean royal flush of didoes in high places; Physic and Forgery: A Study in Confidence, and many more capital crimes old and new, but all revealed with that dry wit and mellow artistry that is the mark of fine wine or writing. Above all you must not miss Mr.Roughead’s ensemble by the entire company entitled, An Academic Discussion wherein his best known murders sit in judgment on the qualities of their crimes and discuss the artistry of their chosen métier.
