Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Any kind of change in our lives has the possibility of bringing grief into the situation. This book was designed to help those who are grieving. It can be used as a devotional and to journal your thoughts. Grief comes unexpectedly and almost knocks us to our knees. Grieve, but don't allow it to settle in and make a home in you. Then it becomes depression. Itzhak Perlman, renowned Israeli violinist is quoted as saying, "You know, sometimes it is the artist's task to find out how much music you can still make with what you have left." We all have music left in us. We must allow God to bring it out and share it with other brokenhearted people. Joyce Pearson is a Bible study teacher and lay minister. She has spoken internationally to churches in Wales and England. The first twenty years of her teaching, she taught young adult women. Seven years into that ministry, she was asked to add a community Bible study class and continues to teach this community class today. In the mid 1980s God called her to write a Bible study workbook, "Godly Motivation." Because of God's faithfulness during her husband's extended illness and passing, she is able to reach out to others with encouragement and hope. During his illness, Joyce finished her Bible study workbook, "The Grace of Hope." God drew her to begin the study before her husband became ill, proving that He prepares us for the trials of life. Joyce is a widow. She is the mother of three sons and one daughter, one daughter-in-law, and one son-in-law. She also has a daughter-in-law who is in the presence of the Lord. Joyce has 12 grandchildren.

Book excerpt: God Cares More About How You Eat than What You Eat Christians should have their heads on straight about food—but too often our eating is complicated by burdens and rules, by diets and dependencies. So how can we keep a spiritually healthy view of what we eat? Should Christians stop eating white sugar? Does the Bible ask us to go paleo? Most questions about food aren’t really about nutrition but about how we understand God. In Broken Bread, Christian Book Award–winner Tilly Dillehay challenges us to abandon the concept of good and bad foods and instead offers a way to… celebrate food without obsession make healthy choices without bondage to rules feed our families without feeling frazzled find satisfaction without using food as an emotional crutch This isn’t another diet book. You won’t find any system or plan for eating but rather a joyful call to develop a vision of Christ that informs the way you eat. Take delight in food again, and discover a feast for today that whispers of the eternal feast to come.

He was an illuminated spirit in the field of spiritual reality, and had an unusual ability to impart "spirit and life" into those who sat under his ministry. A gifted Huguenot poet, and deeply spiritual teacher, he received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in 1913 while a student at a Bible School in Rochester, New York. This book, Broken Bread, captures some of his deep passion in its collection of twenty of his sermons and some of his poems. Full of sound scriptural exegesis and practical insight, Follette instructs and entertains, engaging both the reader's heart and mind. His zeal for God is infectious, and will quickly spread to any reader of Broken Bread. Leonard Ravenhill recommended this book as one of the 'must reads' for every Christian.

The pace of life, along with the new front porch of social media, has changed the landscape of our lives. Women have been told for far too long that being on the go and accumulating more things will make their lives full. As a result, we grasp for the wrong things in life and come up empty. God created us to walk with him; to know him and to be loved by him. He is our living well and when we drink from the water he continually provides, it will change us. Our marriages, our parenting, and our homemaking will be transformed. Mommy-blogger Courtney Joseph is a cheerful realist. She tackles the challenge of holding onto vintage values in a modern world, starting with the keys to protecting our walk with God. No subject is off-limits as she moves on to marriage, parenting, and household management. Rooted in the Bible, her practical approach includes tons of tips that are perfect for busy moms, including: Simple Solutions for Studying God’s Word How to Handle Marriage, Parenting, and Homemaking in a Digital Age 10 Steps to Completing Your Husband Dealing With Disappointed Expectations in Motherhood Creating Routines that Bring Rest Pursuing the Discipline and Diligence of the Proverbs 31 Woman There is nothing more important than fostering your faith, building your marriage, training your children, and creating a haven for your family. Book excerpt: Through stories at once poetic and poignant, There Is Nothing So Whole as a Broken Heart offers a powerful elixir for all who rebel against systemic violence and injustice. The contemporary renewal of Jewish anarchism draws on a history of suffering, ranging from enslavement and displacement to white nationalism and genocide. Yet it also pulls from ancestral resistance, strength, imagination, and humor—all qualities, and wisdom, sorely needed today. These essays, many written from feminist and queer perspectives, journey into ancestral and contemporary trauma in ways that are humanizing and healing. They build bridges from bittersweet grief to rebellion and joy. Through concrete illustrations of how Jewish anarchists imaginatively create their own ritual, cultural, and political practices, they clearly illuminate the path toward mending ourselves and the world.

Book excerpt: What do you do when you wake up and feel like you're not enough for your life? Or when you look out the kitchen window as dusk falls and wonder how do you live when life keeps breaking your heart? As Ann Voskamp writes, “great grief isn't meant to fit inside your body. It's why your heart breaks.” And each of us holds enough brokenness to overflow—to be given as the greatest story of our lives. In sixty vulnerably soulful stories, The Way of Abundance moves from self-weary brokenness to Christ-focused givenness. Drawing from the critically acclaimed, New York Times bestseller The Broken Way and Ann's online essays, this devotional dares us to embrace brokenness as a gift that moves us to givenness as a way to draw closer to the heart of God. Christ Himself broke like bread, giving Himself to us so we might have a lifelong communion with Him. Could it be that our brokenness is also a gift to the world? This gentle but exquisitely profound book does nothing less than take you on an intimate journey of the soul. As Ann writes, "The wound in His side proves that Jesus is always on the side of the suffering, the wounded, the busted, the broken." Discover how surrendering in unexpected ways is the first step toward receiving what you long for. Discover the good news that your beauty is not in your strength but in your fragility. Discover why your healing shines radiant through your wounds—and how only in brokenness will you ever be whole—and find the way to the abundance you were meant for.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who am I? What is my purpose? Where do I belong? These questions linger in every season of our lives, but, as Mary Lenaburg learned the hard way, answering them becomes possible only when we direct our hearts to the God who made us and loves us best of all. Following Lenaburg’s example in Be Bold in the Broken will give you the courage and inspiration you need to accept who you are—the good, the bad, and the awkward—and become the woman God made you to be. Lenaburg desperately wanted to be part of a girl tribe in middle school. She wanted to belong, to have friends—to be seen. So the unathletic, gangly sixth grader tried out for the cheerleading squad. She didn’t have fancy clothes like the other girls and she noticed that everyone else had “a chest.” So Lenaburg stuffed a pair of her brother’s sweat socks into her bra. You can probably guess the rest: One sock fell out when she started a tumbling routine. When she was still feeling humiliated after several weeks, her father gave her some life-changing advice: “How about next time you just be you, do your best, and let God figure out the rest.” Lenaburg—the author of Be Brave in the Scared—explores her journey to self-acceptance as she struggled to make sense of who she is and what she had to offer. Relatable anecdotes will make you laugh as Lenaburg answers the questions she is most often asked and shares how she finally learned to own her gifts and limitations, her dreams and failures, her virtues and sins, and how God is transforming her by grace. With personal stories and faith-filled reflections, Lenaburg blazes the path to true identity and purpose in Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Jewish tradition, going back to Jacob, many fathers have written down whatever wisdom they might have attained in their lives in order to pass along that wisdom to their heirs. It is called an ethical will. Written as a testimony and a testament, in an epistolary format, this book is a compendium of the wisdom of a father, who has spent a lifetime studying the teachings of the Jewish tradition, as well as literary and philosophical traditions of the West. The insights taken from those traditions, which explore the life of the soul, are intended for anyone who has a soul. The book is organized around eighteen words that form the foundations of human life. The number eighteen is taken from the Hebrew word for "life," chai, which has a numerical value of eighteen. Among the words at the heart of these reflections are faith, goodness, responsibility, meaning, gratitude, prayer, love, and others.
