Download or read book Fart Proudly written by Benjamin Franklin and published by Frog Books. This book was released on 2003-03-31 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meet Benjamin Franklin as you’ve never met him before . . . This hilarious collection includes the Founding Father’s satirical writings on farting, adultery, and other irreverent subjects you won’t find in your history books. A mention of flatulence might conjure up images of bratty high school boys or lowbrow comics. But one of the most eloquent—and least expected—commentators on the subject is Benjamin Franklin. The writings in Fart Proudly reveal the rogue who lived peaceably within the philosopher and statesman. Included are “The Letter to a Royal Academy”; “On Choosing a Mistress”; “Rules on Making Oneself Disagreeable”; and other jibes. Franklin’s irrepressible wit found an outlet in perpetrating hoaxes, attacking marriage and other sacred cows, and skewering the English Parliament. Reminding us of the humorous, irreverent side of this American icon, these essays endure as both hilarious satire and a timely reminder of the importance of a free press.

Book Synopsis The Zen of Farting by : Reepah Gud Wan
Download or read book The Zen of Farting written by Reepah Gud Wan and published by Frog Books. This book was released on 2003-09-11 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1993, a Taiwanese fisherman opened a chest that had been in his family for centuries. Inside, he found a manuscript which may be as significant as the Dead Sea scrolls—a manuscript which will revolutionize our thinking about the origins of Zen. Written on a rice paper scroll, the manuscript records the teachings of the founder of Zen, the Master Reepah Gud Wan. It makes it quite clear that Reepah, a legitimate teacher of Buddhism, was frustrated by the inability of his students to grasp the abstract concepts of the Buddha. In desperation, he decided to play a joke on them. He invented the Zen of Farting, confident that even the densest pupil would realize that he was making a joke and laugh at his excessive seriousness—not to mention his farts. The joke went over like a stale air biscuit. Soon, the Master had thousands of students eager to learn this brave new spiritual teaching, the Zen of Farting. Thus was Zen born, not of heaven, but of the 'ethereal child of earth.'

Book excerpt: The soon to be released surrealism book called ULTRA MURDER deals with the CIA program called MK Ultra where the Company tried to create a truth serum using LSD as the main chemical component. In 1973 the director of the CIA, Richard Helms, ordered the files from MK Ultra to be destroyed. My book picks up from that point and mixes pharmacology and politics to create a world where young James gets involved in a test program to find a new mental illness drug and, only too late, finds out it is an Extra Sensory Perception drug that is hoped will give great advantage to spies in the shadowy world of espionage. James tries the drug and garners a dynamic and potent response. The rest is cops and robbers as James tries to get this new tool to the people most helpful to the cause of freedom and fairness. This great drug happening that so helps out James is what others have been waiting centuries to happen. Two stealth operatives have been calling out over the sands of time to bring humanity to a crucial tipping point and the friends of James find themselves petitioned to join a greater collective of like minded individuals. When viewed from the perspective of mirth it is Psychedelia at Area 51 flying UFOs to Columbia. The real heavy questions of existential purpose in life get discussed in a general and relaxed fashion. Humor is involved. A dark humor is there. Enjoy if at all possible.

The millions of age-challenged Americans and the masses of New Yorker cartoon fiends who love Lee won't be disappointed. Book Synopsis Register Variation Online by : Douglas Biber
Download or read book Register Variation Online written by Douglas Biber and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2018-08-23 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While other books focus on special internet registers, like tweets or texting, no previous study describes the full range of everyday registers found on the searchable web. These are the documents that readers encounter every time they do a Google search, from registers like news reports, product reviews, travel blogs, discussion forums, FAQs, etc. Based on analysis of a large, near-random corpus of web documents, this monograph provides comprehensive situational, lexical, and grammatical descriptions of those registers. Beginning with a coding of each document in the corpus, the description identifies the registers that are especially common on the searchable web versus those that are less commonly found. Multi-dimensional analysis is used to describe the overall patterns of linguistic variation among web registers, while the second half of the book provides an in-depth description of each individual register, including analyses of situational contexts and communicative purposes, together with the typical lexical and grammatical characteristics associated with those contexts.
