Book Synopsis From William to William by : William Howard, V
Download or read book From William to William written by William Howard, V and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-22 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An account of today's Black Howard family beginning with its haplogroup, prehistory and specific generational, historical documentation from the author's 8th-greatgrandfather (1500s to early 1600s) and his son (ca 1610-past 1654 and the William I) and up to the present. Author's research begins with 400 year old family legacy of the "rich" father of an "Indian" ancestor. Historical details reveal much more. Author's research includes visits to Africa, SE Asia, Portugal, and Virginia and North Carolina in order to test veracity of legacy and to embellish understanding of who these individuals were and their responses to historical circumstances. My male ancestors responded definitively to their place in the Spanish Empire specifically in reaction to the Dutch War on the Spanish Empire and to the Virginia Colony's dictums on race and religion. Reactions to each era's demands on these ancestors' "assigned places" therein were bold and rebellious. Dozens of author's photographs included. State Supreme Court documents, Virginia Carolorum details, county records, 400 year old eye witness accounts, etc. also included. Colonial Virginia and NC records going back to the 1600s were essential. It has been a 6 year old, international project of love with important lessons for research into how one can approach African-American history within the context of family generations. An interesting side-bar: Who was the historcial "William Crawshaw, baptised Indien?" Assumptions about his historical origins seen by author are not accurate. Anglican William Crawshaw (named after his Virginia Company of London godfather and Puritan Reverend William Crashaw) was until about 1624 the Catholic Filipino native ("Indian") known as "Pasco". Nineteenth century Howard family descendants recalled much of this history and had surprising responses to the two religions. The book is genealogy, history, philosophical, and in the end a memoir.
