Some two thousand years later, people are still confused about the term "born again," though more people than ever claim to have had the experience. In this booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul cuts through the confusion and carefully explains what it means to be born again. Dr. Sproul affirms that the new birth is essential for salvation and goes on to show that this regeneration is a sovereign work of God in our hearts. The Crucial Questions booklet series by Dr. R.C. Sproul offers succinct answers to important questions often asked by Christians and thoughtful inquirers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Authors: Frank and Joanne Mitchell are new writers. This now published work has been anticipated for some years. Frank and his wife Joanne lives in South Florida with their 4 children and grandchildren. After accepting Jesus Christ in 1983, Frank has been studying God's Word. Over the years, little by little he began to learn more and more about God's Word. As he studied, he began to learn how much he didn't know and how much it was to learn. It was like discovering a New Frontier. Realizing that he had been given an unending desire and urgency to see people born again by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and worshiping Him, he had an urgency to present to others an opportunity to see what he saw (The Love of God) in a simplistic form. It wasn't until 2013 that he finally began to put his thoughts and feelings down on paper in the form of this book, BORN 1 DIE 2.BORN 2 DIE 1. He believes that he is being used as a vessel to deliver God's message of Salvation to anyone that is not saved and maybe a little clearer understanding to those who are saved. Frank led an adult Bible study in 2011 at the church where he and his wife Joanne regularly worships. He and Joanne have been Middle School Bible table leaders since 2012 until presently. Frank has been a volunteer campus coach for First Priority of South Florida since 2013 until presently. He works with public schools in the South Florida area .In 2015 he has become involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Joanne's experience as a believer was at a much younger age when her parents allowed a missionary whose name was Ms. Bergman to have a Bible study in their home where Joanne eventually made a decision to accept Jesus Christ at the age of 13. Joanne has been extremely instrumental in looking up and checking scriptures for this book. Frank and Joanne believes that everyone should be presented with an opportunity to decide if they prefer to be Born 1 Die 2 or Born 2 Die 1. This means that when you come out of your mother's womb, you are born one time. If you are never Born again by accepting Christ you will die once when you die a physical death and you will already be spiritually dead, Die 2. You are born once and you will die twice. If you are Born again by accepting Christ, you will die a physical death but you will not be dead spiritually. You will be born twice and you will only die once, if you make that choice. "And as it is appointed unto man once to die and after this, the judgment" (KJ, Hebrew 9.27).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Once-Born, Twice-Born Zen' is a fresh treatment of the two major Zen schools of Japan. Its biographical and comparative approach is both original and very readable. The use of William James' typology, along with other phenomenological categories, provides the reader with helpful handles for distinguishing the schools, as well as similar tendencies in other religious traditions. The book should make an excellent text for introductory and middle-level courses in which one is trying to get students to develop categories for understanding religious experience and behavior. Readers will see something of themselves in the range of biographical examples given, and will detect their own tendencies through the use of this method. -- Bardwell Smith

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frustrated and fed up at trying to live your life by the list? You know, it is that “corporate world” model of priority-keeping which is so ingrained in our culture (something first, then something second, and then something else third, and so on). God at Center provides the challenge to embrace a biblical paradigm for priority-keeping which does not follow the world, but the word. Is there really an alternative to putting “God first” in our lives? Yes, there is! And it is a more “biblical” paradigm, one that has God at the center of our lives. With God in his rightful place in your life and applying a fuller understanding of the Great Commandment (which is in and of itself a “priority-keeping” passage), you will embrace a lifestyle of seeking to love God with all your heart, soul, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. You will finally make sense of who you are, what God wants you to know, and what you can do about it.

Book excerpt: Reasons New Converts Backslide investigates the patternmanifest too often in the life of the churchin which new converts to the Christian faith find the flames of their initial zeal for life in Christ fading to smoldering embers. When that happens, they fall away from the church and lapse back into the ways of life they led before their conversions. Known as backslidingthis pattern presents challenges both to the spiritual lives of individuals and the shared life of the Christian community. Grounded upon more than twenty-five years of personal experience and insights gleaned from the Scriptures and the life of the church, Elaine Larkins exploration of backsliding offers encouragement to neophyte Christians and insights to church leaders caring for people new to the faith. Larkins presents key passages from the Scriptures that offer guidance for new Christians, explores the theological questions that arise when Christians fall away from the church, and diagnoses the challenges that backsliding presents to the vitality of Gods church. Whether you are a new convert to Christianity, an established church member, or someone called to a position of leadership, Reasons New Converts Backslide offers a blend of insights, grounded both in the Scriptures and in the ups and downs of life in the church, that offers approaches for living out your faith and for treating new Christians with the loving care they need in order to thrive in the life of faith.
