Book excerpt: Seven years ago, I started to see the number 3 repeatedly. In 2017, I was having lunch with a new person God had placed in my life, and she said that 2017 was the year of Jubilee in the Hebraic calendar. The number 5 represents the year of government, and God perfects things in sevens. The number 5,777 represents 2017 in the Hebraic calendar. I cannot say that 2017 was a year of Jubilee. However, it was the year that I completed G7, so in essence, that was Jubilee. In his book Dispensational Truth, Rev. Clarence Larkin theorized that God rightly divides the Word to address the Jews, the Gentiles, and the Church, which refers to humanity; and God divides the Word by the age in time (history). Larkin states there are 3 Ages, corresponding to the Divine number Three the (Father, Son and Holy Spirit); and into 7 Dispensations, to correspond to the Perfect number Seven composed of the Divine number Three and the World number FourWinter Spring, Summer and Autumn, or the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. I am no theologian, but Larkins work drew me in while I was writing G7. It is the most complex description of how God reveals completion throughout scripture, from Genesis to Revelation and the church age. Larkin displays imagery with the use of the planets, man, creation, numbers, symbols, and the seasons. I can spend a lifetime trying to understand the revelation of God, but one thing I do know is that when youre hungry for God, the Word is like living water!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The G7, a self-selected club of like-minded industrialized countries, looks at first glance ill-suited to address current anti-globalist concerns. Despite this, it has successfully confronted anti-globalization, populist and protectionist pressures by focussing on concerns surrounding the destruction of the natural environment, immigration, transnational crime, drugs, disease and terrorism, thus demonstrating the social and ecological advantages that globalization brings. Exploring how the world’s oldest informal summit institution continues to respond to rising anti-globalisation, populism and protectionism, this book investigates the contribution the G7 makes to global governance through its actions and accountability of its members. The expert contributors analyse from different perspectives the issues that have contributed to the rise of populism and protectionism, and how well the G7 has responded to them. Each contribution identifies avenues that might allow renewing and strengthening the role of the G7 in times of global change, with a view of strengthening its legitimacy and effectiveness. It will be of interest to policy makers, diplomats, scholars of international relations, international political economy, diplomacy, summitry and global governance. The issues discussed will also be particularly relevant to those working for civil society and non-governmental organizations seeking to participate in governance forums or to influence those who do.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current account deficit of the United States is more than six percent of its gross domestic product—an all-time high. And the rest of the world, including other G7 countries such as Japan and Germany, must collectively run current account surpluses to finance this deficit. How long can such unevenness between imports and exports be sustained, and what form might their eventual reconciliation take? Putting forth scenarios ranging from a gradual correction to a crash landing for the dollar, G7 Current Account Imbalances brings together economists from around the globe to consider the origins, status, and future of those disparities. An esteemed group of collaborators here examines the role of the bursting of the dot-com bubble, the history of previous episodes of current account adjustments, and the possibility of the Euro surpassing the dollar as the leading international reserve currency. Though there are areas of broad agreement—that the imbalances will ultimately decline and that currency revaluations will be part of the solution—many areas of contention remain regarding both the dangers of imbalances and the possible forms of adjustment. This volume will be of tremendous value to economists, politicians, and business leaders alike as they look to the future of the G7 economies.

Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2000: This inside look at the G7/G8 summits is from an author who combines personal experience of the summit process with academic analysis. It weaves together a critical narrative of the annual summits with essays on their interaction with contemporary trends - interdependence, globalization and the end of the Cold War - and with key international institutions. the summits are judged against their original objectives: reconciling domestic and external pressures, mobilizing collective management and providing political leadership. Readers should take away an understanding of how the leaders of the major industrial democracies have responded to the transformation of the world economy during the late 20th century and how far they have succeeded in reforming the international economic system to meet the next millennium.

Book excerpt: We are now in the era of the G8, although the G7 still exists as a grouping for Finance Ministers. Why do G7 finance ministries and central banks co-operate? What are the implications of this co-operation for US power and the abilities of the other six states to exercise leadership? What role do the G7 play in global financial governance? How much authority do they possess and how is that authority exercised? This is the first major monograph on the political economy of G7 finance ministry and central bank co-operation. It argues that to understand the contribution of the G7 to global financial governance it is necessary to locate the process in the context of a wider world financial order comprised of decentralized globalization. It also provides original case study material on the G7’s contribution to macroeconomic governance and to debates on the global financial architecture over the last decade. It assesses the G7’s role in producing a system of global financial governance based on market supremacy and technocratic transgovernmental consensus and articulates normative criticisms of the G7’s exclusivity. For researchers in the fields of IR/IPE generally, postgraduate students in the field of international organization and global governance, policy makers and financial journalists this is the most extensive analysis of the G7 and the political economy of global financial governance to date.

Book excerpt: Jazz Piano Fundamentals is master-teacher Jeremy Siskind’s welcoming, clear, and detailed guide to the first stages of jazz piano study. This two-book set contains enough material to study for more than a year. Each book contains twelve units that each present lessons, exercises, licks, activities, listening guides, and practice plans to keep studies organized, productive, and creative. Book 1 presents improvisation, chord symbols, leadsheet reading, voicings, swing rhythm and articulation, comping, playing basslines, personalizing a melody, the blues, bossa nova, and more. Book 2 presents shout-chorus voicings, transcription projects, closed-position voicings, drop two voicings, altered scales, coordination exercises, minor ii-V-i's, rhythm changes, and more. Praise for Jazz Piano Fundamentals, Book 1 "Jeremy's book is a reflection on who he is as a pianist - a true artist who has done his homework. Behind the meticulous attention to detail is a respect for jazz tradition and a desire to help pianists explore their own creativity." - Aimee Nolte, jazz pianist/vocalist and YouTube Star "I love this book - and plan on using it in at my own school. A must for any beginning jazz piano student!" - Martin Bejerano, jazz pianist/composer and professor, Frost School of Music, University of Miami "Jazz Piano Fundamentals creates a methodology and answers questions in a way that I have almost never seen done in a jazz educational tome. Jeremy breaks down the practice of improvisation to its smallest building blocks, and is careful to relate each lesson to real-life examples from the jazz canon....This book will be excellent for jazz beginners, players of other instruments who wish to bone up on their piano skills, and advanced improvisers may find ways to fill in gaps in their skill sets." - Mark Shilansky, pianist/composer, professor, Berklee College of Music "Jeremy's book is not only perfect to start this wonderful journey called Jazz Piano, but also one to come back to... Thank you!!" Otmaro Ruiz, Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and professor, UCLA
