Download or read book Torn Asunder written by Kevin Ruesch and published by Bastion Press, Inc.. This book was released on 2003-07 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: d20 combat is efficient yet abstract. While the concept of hit points works well when envisioning a tense fight of sweat, parrying, near misses, and fatigue, it falls on its knees the minute your character takes a solid and brutal blow to the head. How exactly are you supposed to adjudicate a broken arm, a gouged eye, a lacerated liver, or a crushed spine? Torn Asunder provides a complete and comprehensive system for critical hits in any d20 game. The system is elegant and easy to use, it does not do away with hit points, or even alter the combat rules, it simply provides an optional way to deal with critical hits besides piling on additional damage. Critical hits are real hits - disabling function, mangling body parts, and leaving real wounds behind.Torn Asunder pulls no punches; it provides a realistic and effective injury system for d20, covering all creatures, anatomies, and body types. Included as well are rules for natural healing, scarification, and herbal treatments. Torn Asunder also provides a wide variety of resources allowing characters to take advantage of the new system, from quick and precise prestige classes to devastating weapons to powerful and essential magical devices.Don't just beat your opponents into submission, tear them limb from limb.

The events, which occur throughout the book, takes place in a self-willed town just outside Lake Charles, Louisiana. The name of this little town is Twin Rivers, Louisiana. These events are of catastrophic magnitudes. Remember, this isnt a real story. Please dont perceive this story and its contents to be true. Charlotte must, however, overcome numerous obstacles within the house, which will eventually start changing the unique characteristics about her. Charlottes grandma, Irene, raised Charlotte from a very early age. Charlotte was six months old when her parents died. Irene cherished Charlotte up until the day of her mortality. Charlotte is now eighteen years old. Shes bright, brilliant, and beautiful, but shes also turning into something else. By reading this book, youll have to make those assumptions on your own. After her grandma, Irene, passes away, Charlotte now feels all alone and has no one else to call family. She has to remember every aspect of her life growing up while under the supervision of her grandma. There is a sufficient volume of memories that are blurry to her, but Charlotte is determined to remember regardless of how foggy they are. She has to use every available resource to her to discover the meaning of them. Shes now forced to deal with the loneliness, which is going to be arduous for her. Charlotte has never been in this type of disarray before. She has numerous friends that she attends school with at Herbert High School, and they adore her and trust her with their whole hearts. They each begin noticing to some degree that Charlotte is evolving into a monster unlike anything they have ever seen. They one by one start to abandon her. Her heart becomes broken into tiny little bits, and possibly beyond repair. They, at first, will attempt to do everything humanly and spiritually possible to eradicate the evilness coursing throughout her veins. Theyll soon encounter these beings living in the house and upon the land. The girl they all love finds loneliness isnt an option anymore. Charlotte has instructed her new family never to bring about any harm to her friends, or they would be sorry. At some point, shell have to make the ultimate decision to prohibit them from departing from her land. Charlotte loves them genuinely and only hopes theyll join with her and her new family and become a small army to wipe out the wicked, but Charlotte can make that determination for herself. She gives them money, gifts, sexual mates, drugs, and above all, her loyalty to them as well as their devotion to her, and her new family. Its going to be very challenging for Charlotte. Her friends stand firm and are stronger than she ever thought, and when they come together as one, she realizes their bond to one another is powerful, and they begin fighting for their freedom. While reading this book, youll discover Charlotte starts to unleash her new friends who are loyal to her and her alone. Book Synopsis Blood in the Forest by : Vincent Hunt
Download or read book Blood in the Forest written by Vincent Hunt and published by Helion and Company. This book was released on 2017-05-04 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With original research and interviews with survivors, a journalist reveals the brutal yet forgotten battles in Latvia during the final months of WWII. While the eyes of the world were on Hitler’s bunker, more than half a million men fought six cataclysmic battles in the fields and forests of Western Latvia known as the Courland Pocket. Just an hour from the capital Riga, German forces bolstered by Latvian Legionnaires were trapped with their backs to the Baltic. Forced into uniform by Nazi and Soviet occupiers, Latvian fought Latvian – sometimes brother against brother. Hundreds of thousands of men died for little territorial gain in unimaginable slaughter. When the Germans capitulated, thousands of Latvians continued a war against Soviet rule from the forests for years afterwards. An award-winning documentary journalist, Vincent Hunt travels through the modern landscape gathering eye-witness accounts, piecing together the stories of those who survived. He meets veterans who fought in the Latvian Legion, former partisans and a refugee who fled the Soviet advance to later become President, Vaira Vike-Freiberga. A survivor of the little-known concentration camp at Popervale details his escape from a death march and subsequent survival in the forests with a Soviet partisan group - and a German deserter. With detailed maps and expert contributions alongside rare newspaper archives, photographs from private collections and extracts from diaries translated from Latvian, German and Russian, Hunt assembles a ghastly picture of death and desperation in a nation both gripped by war and at war with itself.
Book Synopsis They Know Everything About You by : Robert Scheer
Download or read book They Know Everything About You written by Robert Scheer and published by Bold Type Books. This book was released on 2015-02-24 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: They Know Everything About You is a groundbreaking expos' of how government agencies and tech corporations monitor virtually every aspect of our lives, and a fierce defense of privacy and democracy. The revelation that the government has access to a vast trove of personal online data demonstrates that we already live in a surveillance society. But the erosion of privacy rights extends far beyond big government. Intelligence agencies such as the NSA and CIA are using Silicon Valley corporate partners as their data spies. Seemingly progressive tech companies are joining forces with snooping government agencies to create a brave new world of wired tyranny. Life in the digital age poses an unprecedented challenge to our constitutional liberties, which guarantee a wall of privacy between the individual and the government. The basic assumption of democracy requires the ability of the individual to experiment with ideas and associations within a protected zone, as secured by the Constitution. The unobserved moment embodies the most basic of human rights, yet it is being squandered in the name of national security and consumer convenience. Robert Scheer argues that the information revolution, while a source of public enlightenment, contains the seeds of freedom's destruction in the form of a surveillance state that exceeds the wildest dream of the most ingenious dictator. The technology of surveillance, unless vigorously resisted, represents an existential threat to the liberation of the human spirit.
