Book excerpt: Blessed Be, is a true story and Christian testimony of (Judy Ann) Julia Wells. Julia is a hard working wife, mother, and grandmother. She commutes eighty miles round trip to her job at a Gottschalk's Department Store, in Carson City, Nevada. Her story begins with the introductionexplaining how Roger, her husband of 30 years, has been diagnosed with cancer, and how the Lord put it on Julia's heart to write this book. The story then reflects back to her childhood, and family background. It tells of a small girl's insecurities. Her story is one of abandonment, abuse, molestation and losses. This is a fast paced story that gives you reason to laugh while rubbing the tears from your eyes. Julias story goes on to tell of her love for music, which gives her the courage to write to Elvis Presley about what is happening in her life. It tells how Elvis became personally involved. She explains how she continued to look for love and acceptance in all the wrong places. While looking for her father, or a father like image, the Lord was knocking on the door to her heart. It tells a common story of finding God, then taking Him for granted. Putting the Lord on a shelf like an old used Bible to collect dust and only praying, or asking, Why me? when problems occur in her life. When Julia learned that she was a co-dependent, and was fighting with depression, the Lord knocks her feet out from under her. That is when He spoke to her saying, I picked you up and I carried you. I am with you and I forgive you. The Lord continued to work miracles in Julia's life, by healing her of cancer. The Lord gave her the strength and faith to make it through four deaths in twenty-one days, while having oral surgery and living in a tent-trailer with no running water. If that wasn't enough, He sent a guardian angel to protect her from an impending auto accident and the blessings continued. So many things happened in Julia's life that almost anyone can relate to some part of her stay. It's a must read for anyone who has suffered from childhood abuse, molestation, dependency or codependency. Julia is a member of Al-Anon; she has been an Al-Ateen sponsor. She has been a Sunday school teacher. Julia's greatest blessing is the love of her Father, God; and her family. This book has song lyrics and scriptures that work with her story or chapters. There are poems that Julia wrote during the times of which she's telling you about in her book. And of course there is that testimony and witness that her prayers will reach the people to whom the Lord has intended.

But at other painful or confusing times in our lives, the choice to worship is a costly act of devotion. In the life of every worshiper there will come times when worship meets with suffering. In Blessed Be Your Name, Matt and Beth Redman use the words of their inspiring song to explore how to stand in the place of praise even in the face of hardship and pain. Focusing on the Psalms, many of which were written out of struggle, the Redmans share from their own experience and show how painful circumstances and our choices can either propel us toward God or away from Him, build up our faith or break it. Learn how to ride out the storms of life saying ''Blessed be Your name, Lord'' and mean it.

In the end, he will destroy them all-because Quinn is his weapon, and he plans to keep it that way. Lazarus was warned that Quinn's power might be too great, even for him, but nothing prepared him for the truth of it until she held a dagger over him, and he was powerless to stop it. Now at odds with himself, the future king of Norcasta must find a way to regain control of his house and secure an alliance with the Pirate Queen...before fate tips its hand once more, and his carefully laid plans are led astray. Quinn's loyalty is not easily won, but Lazarus has managed to do it. Now the vassal and right-hand of Lord Fierté, Quinn seeks to gain him an alliance with Ilvas all the while challenging him at every turn. With the Cisean tribes won over, and the blood heirs behind them, Quinn expects this to be an easy task, but soon finds herself entangled in a web of lies. Forced to gamble with her life-and the lives of her comrades-Quinn must make a choice that will either save or doom them all.

Book excerpt: An Understandable and Reliable Guide to Revelation Over 12 chapters, Blessed covers the full text of the book of Revelation, exploring its call to patient endurance as God's sovereign plans for judgment and salvation are worked out in the world. In this book, Guthrie shows how Revelation is less about when Jesus will return and more about who we are to be, what we are to do, and what we can expect to endure as we wait for Jesus to return to establish his kingdom in the new creation. With a friendly and engaging tone, Blessed takes the fear, intimidation, and confusion away from studying Revelation, providing a solid and accessible resource that individuals and small groups can use to study this important yet often avoided book. Understand the Book of Revelation: Helps readers make sense of Revelation's unique apocalyptic symbolism, visual imagery, and Old Testament allusions Transformative Personal Application: Every chapter asks and answers the question, What does it mean to hear and keep this part of Revelation and thereby experience its promised blessing? A Focus on What Is Clear and Uncontroversial: Highlights Revelation's call for a costly allegiance to Christ and a refusal to compromise with the world rather than focusing on interpretive approaches and disputes

Well over half of young adults raised in the Church have dropped out with many having a strong anti-Church stance, many even believing the Church does more harm than good.Fr. Josh Johnson was one of these people. In Broken and Blessed he tackles the harsh realities facing the Church in the 21st century. With charity and courage he speaks to his own generation of Catholic “Millennials,” who often feel their needs and concerns are not being addressed by the Church, or who simply do not believe the Catholic Faith has any relevance to their lives. Using his own experiences, both as a former struggling young Catholic and as a priest, Fr. Josh offers an inspiring witness of how he came to know God, rather than just knowing about him—and presents practical ways for us to truly know God as well. Broken and Blessed: Addresses head-on Millennials’ most pressing issues with the Catholic Faith Presents powerful and inspiring stories from Fr. Josh’s own faith journey Shows how one can truly encounter Jesus in a personal way Offers practical insights on how to overcome habitual sins Discusses the nature of prayer, as well as the challenges to prayer and how to overcome them

Book excerpt: 2021 Catholic Media Association Award second place award in liturgy 2021 Catholic Media Association Award honorable mention award in gender issues - inclusion in the church For years, religious leaders and communities around the world have turned to the Women’s Alliance for Theology, Ethics, and Ritual (WATER) for feminist liturgies for justice. Now—in celebration of the organization’s thirty-fifth anniversary—Stirring Waters gathers fifty-two of these beautiful liturgies, ready-made to help your community venerate powerful women of faith, develop a richer and deeper spirituality, and take real action for justice. Use the liturgies in this book as a resource to nourish the souls and focus the passions of the people you serve. Help them reflect on great women like the prophetess Miriam and Julian of Norwich; provoke and disturb them on occasions like Earth Day and World Water Day; energize them on International Women’s Day and Black History Month; and rejuvenate drooping spirits with liturgies of healing and gratitude. Never again will you scramble or struggle to provide community prayer that is worthwhile, nourishing, and even electrifying.
