Book excerpt: The number one assassin in the world is back for one more mission…and he probably won't survive. Adlai Blackson. Soldier. Assassin. Criminal. Prisoner. As a resident and death row inmate of the correctional center in Kansas, he’s had time to reflect on many things. On killing the appointed Secretary of Defense, William MacDonald. On murdering MacDonald’s wife, Marilyn MacDonald, who wanted him dead. On the type of man he wants to be in his last days. But then a visitor comes to him who could change everything. They just want him to complete one last mission. If he succeeds, he gets his freedom back. There’s only one small problem. The mission is in North Korea. Adlai has a choice. Refuse the mission and die in prison, or take the mission and risk becoming a prisoner of a nation whose prisons makes the U.S. System look like hotels. He knows he’ll need help on this one. Failure is not an option. If he does, it will shift the global balance of power and shake the foundations of the United States, changing the course of history. Pressure mounts as Adlai and his crew race against the clock to stop an insane regime with a grudge against the U.S. Can Adlai and his impromptu team of enemies, friends, and strangers succeed? More importantly, can he do it without becoming the man he once was?

Book excerpt: They trained him to be a soldier. They forced him to be a vigilante. He becomes their nightmare. Adlai Blackson is a patriot. As a United States Marine, he serves out of a sense of duty and honor to his father, killed in action when he was seven years old. That day changed his life and shaped him to be the man he is today. To him, family and friends are paramount and it has been his life's mission to protect them and his country. For over twenty years, he's built an impressive reputation as a top-notch hand-to-hand combatant and uncanny reconnaissance and infiltration expert. The government took notice, recruiting him as a leader in the black ops team known only to those involved as Detachment M. All because he’s kept something locked away. Something he’s kept hidden since he was seven years old. The superhuman ability to turn invisible for 40 seconds. Now, Adlai's life is about to change again. The unfolding of a revelation shakes him to the core of his soul, igniting a series of lethal events that force him to choose whether to be the good soldier, the good son or… something else. Blackson’s Revenge is a story of how one man is pulled into an arena of lies, betrayal, and murder. Of how one man struggles with his worst enemy: his own heart. Book excerpt: This book is about change, A Call To Repentance will free us all from slavery, the ones being enslaved and the ones doing the enslaving as well. Voices, known to be the light unto the Black Race has been heard in time throughout the years. They have been heard and they have been silenced, from Christ to Eric Garner, the last voice heard on behalf of blacks, "I CAN'T BREATH", how blacks manged to live their lives in retrospect. We have been yelling I can't breath in so many different ways. Every black Person that stood up for blacks have been laid down, and it;s time to hear what we have too say, without the violence , or someone being killed. This book is A Call To Repentance because In the Eyes of God Black Lives matter, Now and Then, and every race can use change. To repent means turning from the wickedness of the world, and sin, and back to God where we were in the beginning, with Adam the first black man created by God. We have all been disobedient, walking away from God, and the enemy been disobedient keeping us from God. So when we turn the curse will break, and when they stop slavery, God may have mercy on them. The first Amendment is the Freedom of Speech, now you can hear God speaking through me. The Bible is his speech and it;s freely given to me to preach. So hear what God has to say about black nations as he is sending out A call To Repentance, the same way he did when Christ walked the earth. The plea too turn then is the same plea too turn today. God is still giving us a chance, all he want to know is what do you want, and A call To Repentance. Slavery hurts, but God heals. May God bless you

Having assimilated classical Pentecostalism and the charismatic movement, and having begun to find ways of working with the Caribbean Pentecostal denominations, it remained to be seen how UK evangelicalism would fare with African Pentecostals. This book looks at the intricacies of the relationship at a time that provided ample opportunities to weigh the benefits and challenges of integration from every possible angle.

Book excerpt: When you finish reading this practical work by Zachary Crofton on biblical repentance, you might say to yourself, “I’ve never repented.” That’s the kind of impact he is going to have on you if you read this work even in a cursory manner. In order to have a deeper walk with Christ, repentance is at the heart and life of the sinner who walks comfortably with God. However, repenting, reordering and realigning your fallen mind to sit in connection with God’s will, is not as simple as praying a prayer, as some would have you believe. Crofton says that repentance is a “sense of, and sorrow for sin, as committed against God.” The sinner must spread himself before the Law of God to survey the entire course of his own life. He needs to weigh himself in the balance of God’s perfection. The Gospel-sinner knows he is imperfect, and in view of God’s Law, which shows him his sin, he comes away not just lacking in some spiritual and moral goodness, but sees the utter viciousness of his nature against God’s prescription for holiness. He then sentences himself as accursed of God, agreeing that the Law is right and good, and he knows that he is “bound” to experience God’s Divine fury for his sin in hell by God’s justice which is just and good. He not only sees that he is a true sinner before God, but sorrows under his understanding of sin, and is “ashamed of such a sad and sinful state.” He comes to learn that repentance is a supernatural gift given to him from God, and that he must turn from sin and confess his sin. This kind of repentance is necessary to remove the wrath and judgment of God and to “answer the call of the gospel,” which requires everyone to repent. Crofton explains the characteristics of true biblical repentance from 2 Corinthians 7:11. There are eight characteristics that he covers: godly sorrow, care, clearing of ourselves, indignation, fear, vehement desire, zeal and revenge against sin. And, finally, Crofton demonstrates 10 points which show how you, reader, might gain godly repentance, completely soaking the sinful heart in the blood of Jesus, with great speed, and earnestly looking for repentance only at the hands of God. And while consciousness of our sins is uncomfortable, it is also a cause for hope. In those feelings of guilt, says popular Scripture commentator Kevin Perrotta, God is calling us to return to him. The first three sessions of this Bible study are designed to spur readers to reflect on their own experience of recognizing their sins and taking action against them. The second three sessions focus on Jesus, who calls us to grow in love beyond anything that is easy or comfortable for us—and enables us to do it by nourishing us with himself.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There would be no Moses, no crossing of the Red Sea, no story of breaking the chains of slavery if it weren’t for the women in the Exodus narrative. Women on both sides of the Nile exhibited a subversive strength resisting Pharaoh and leading an entire people to freedom. Defiant explores how the Exodus women summoned their courage, harnessed their intelligence, and gathered their resources to enact justice in many small ways and overturned an empire. Women find themselves in similar circumstances today. The Women’s March stirred the conscience of a nation and prompted women to organize with and for their neighbors, it is worth reflecting on the resistance literature of Exodus and what it has to offer women. Defiant is about the deep work women do to create conditions for liberation in their church, community, and country. The women of Exodus defied Pharaoh, raised Moses, and plundered Egypt. We are invited to consider what the midwives, mothers of Moses, Miriam, Zipporah and her sisters demonstrate under the oppressive regime of Pharaoh and what it might unlock for us as we imagine our mandate under modern systems of injustice. Kelley Nikondeha presents a fresh paradigm for women, highlighting a biblical mandate to join the liberation work in our world. Women’s work involves more than tending to our own family and home. According to Exodus, it moves us beyond the domestic territory and into relationship with women across the river, confronting injustice and working to liberate our neighborhoods so all mothers and children are free. Nikondeha calls women to continue to be active agents in heralding liberation as we organize and march together for one another’s freedom.

Here are practical ways to start winning -- consistently -- battles against sin. Fr. John Kane explains how to understand the full effects of sin and repentance, and provides solid guidelines for how to make the most effective use possible of the sacrament of Reconciliation.
