Book excerpt: O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a biomassa microbiana do solo (BMS) como parâmetro bioindicador de alterações no agroecossistema em virtude do manejo agrícola adotado. A BMS foi analisada em quatro diferentes ensaios experimentais de longa duração: Ensaio 1: com 26 anos de implantação, constituído de quatro sistemas de manejo de solo: (1) plantio direto (PD), plantio convencional [(PC) com arado de disco], (3) preparo com escarificador (E) e (4) preparo com grade pesada (GP) ambos com sucessão soja [(Glycine max)]/ trigo [(Triticum aestivum) inverno]. Ensaio 2: com 21 anos, constituído por oito diferentes sistemas de rotação de culturas (R) incluindo culturas de grão [soja, milho (Zea mays) e trigo] e de cultura e adubação verde [tremoço(Lupinus albus), nabo forrageiro (Raphanus sativus) e aveia preta (Avena strigosa)], sob o sistema PD. Ensaio 3: com 14 anos de implantação, constituído de PC (com arado de disco) e dois sistemas de PD com diferente período de instalação, sendo ambos manejos de solo realizados com dois sistemas de rotação de culturas ® e um de sucessão (S) incluindo culturas de grãos (soja, milho safrinha e trigo) e de cobertura e adubação verde (tremoço e aveia preta). Ensaio 4: com 10 anos de implantação, constituído de dois manejos de solo, PD e PC (com arado de disco), ambos com três sistemas de rotação de culturas, incluindo soja, milho, trigo, tremoço e aveia preta. As análises foram realizadas durante a safra de verão (2006/2007) e inverno (2007). Os ensaios foram instalados na fazenda experimental da Embrapa Soja, em Londrina/PR, em Latossolo Vermelho Eutroférrico. As avaliações foram feitas em amostras de solo coletadas na camada de 0-10 cm de profundidade. Na safra de verão as coletas de solo foram realizadas no período correspondente ao estádio de florescimento da soja e do milho e, na safra de inverno durante a maturação do trigo e florescimento do milho safrinha. Utilizou-se o método de fumigação-extração (FE) para análise de carbono (CBM) e nitrogênio (NBM) da biomassa microbiana. Os estudos foram conduzidos no Município de Glória de Dourados, ms, num argissolo Vermekho distrófico, de textura arenosa. O carbono da biomassa microbiana (C microbiano) foi determinado pelo método da fumigação-extração e a atividade microbiana foi avaliada pelo método da respirometria (evolução de CO2). Avaliaram-se, ainda, os quocientes metabólico e microbiano, além de akguns atributos relacionados à física e química do solo. De modo geral, a biomassa microbina do solo mostrou-se mais favorecida nos sistemas sob cobertura de res'duos do que no sistema convencional de preparo do solo, refletindo em valores mais elevados do quociente microbiano, expresso pela relação c microbiano/C orgânico total (C mic/C org).

Book excerpt: O objetivo do trabalho foi estudar a variabilidade espacial da biomassa microbiana (BMS) e os constituintes lábeis da matéria orgânica do solo (MOS), sob diferentes sistemas de manejo e cobertura vegetal. 0 experimento foi instalado em um Planossolo Háplico no Sistema Integrado de Produção Agroecológica (SIPA) da Embrapa Agrobiologia/UFRRJ/Pesagro, Seropédica/RJ. Os sistemas de manejo avaliados foram: cultivo em aléias, pastagem e horto florestal como área de referência. Para a amostragem utilizou-se 3 grades regulares com espaçamento de 2,5 metros, composta de 25 pontos georreferenciados para cada grade, onde coletou-se amostras de solo na profundidade de 0-10 em. Em cada amostra determinou-se os teores de C e N associados à BMS e os seguintes constituintes lábeis da MOS: fração leve livre, formas de C e N solúveis em água e teor de glomalina. Determinaram-se também as frações granulométricas areia, silte, argila, umidade gravimétrica, bem como os atributos químicos cálcio, magnésio, fósforo, potássio, carbono orgânico, nitrogênio total, alumínio, CTC e pH em água. Somente as áreas de cultivo em aléias e pastagem apresentaram dependência espacial para os atributos da MOS. A ocorrência de maior dependência espacial dos parâmetros associados à BMS nas aléias (Corg, fração leve livre da MO, BMS-N e respiração) deveu-se provavelmente a fatores extrínsecos relacionados ao manejo, tais como: intensa rotação e diversidade de culturas e aporte diferenciado de adubos orgânicos (material de poda e aplicação de compostos orgânicos). The objective of this work was to study the spatial variability of microbial biomass (BMS) and labile soil organic matter pools (MOS), under different systems of management and plant cover. The experiment was conducted in a Haplic Planosol soil on an Integrated Agroecological Production System (SIPA) at Embrapa Agrobiology CenterlUFRRJ/Pesagro, Seropedica, Rio de Janeiro. The evaluated management systems were: alley cropping, pasture, and forest garden as a reference area. It was used as sampling system three grids of regular spacing of 2.5 meters, consisting of 25 georeferentiated points, where soil samples at l0cm depth were taken. The following labile constituents were determined: free light fraction (FLL), water soluble C and N, C and N of BMS, and glomalin content. The areas of alley cropping and pasture showed spatial dependence to the attributes of MOS. The occurrence of larger spatial dependence of the parameters associated to microbial biomass in the alley cropping system (Corg, FLL, BMS-N and respiration), probably was due to external factors related to management, such as: intensive rotational cropping system, diversity of cultures and different inputs of organic matter to soil (pruning material and organic compost).
