Book excerpt: This study is a continuation of "COME to the LIGHT." Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life." What exactly did Jesus mean when He said those who follow Him will have the Light of life? What does it mean to "walk" in the Light? And how do we walk "in the Light?" Jesus is the light, He is the life, and He is the Light of life. He is the Word, the Word is a lamp unto our feet, a light unto our path. His presence is light. The light shows us the way we should go. God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. When we walk in the light, we cannot bear to fellowship with darkness. Jesus said when we believe in the light, we become sons of light, children of light. We walk in the light; and he who remains in the light has no cause for stumbling in him. Scripture explains Scripture. So each lesson herein is a paragraph or two of scripture, in context, sorted by theme, where two or more of the words "walk, light, and/or in the Lord" (and their various synonyms) appear in the same paragraph; followed by four questions. Each Scripture is in context, but it's best if you also read what surrounds these verses. We suggest you start by reading the Gospel message under the heading, Start Here. We cannot walk in the light of life without knowing Jesus and responding to the Good News. Also included herein is Appendix A - Small Group Facilitation Guide with step-by-step instructions to help homegroup and bible study leaders host interactive meetings. Plus Appendix B - Sample Answers is an example of how one might answer the questions, particularly the first time. The follow up to this study is called, "ABIDE in the WORD and Him in you." Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you" That's a pretty amazing outcome, but what's our part? How do we "abide" in Him? More specifically, how do we abide "in Him?" And again, how do His "words abide in us?" For all you songwriters interested in worship song content, consider the songwriter version of this booklet, "All who WALK in the LIGHT of LIFE (Songwriters' Series)." The scriptures are the same ones that are in this book, but are followed by different questions and some helpful hints to inspire the writing of upwardly focused worship songs.
