Book excerpt: The New York Times bestselling author of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell and Assholes Finish First delivers a new collection of thirty 100% true, 100% exclusive stories of comically perverse excess. Another installment in Tucker Max's series of stories about his drunken debauchery and ridiculous antics. What began as a simple sentence on an obscure website, “My name is Tucker Max, and I am an asshole,” and developed into two infamously genre-defining books, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell and Assholes Finish First, ends here. But as you should expect from Tucker by now, he is going out with a bang—literally and figuratively. In this book, you’ll learn: * How to live and work in Cancun, while still enrolled in Law School * Why Halloween is really awesome * How to subtly torture a highstrung roommate until he explodes with furious anger over a misplaced condiment * What really happened when a dirty pageant girl tried to sue Tucker because he told the truth * Why you should never accept a homemade treat from a hippie with a van As we've come to learn from Tucker, assholes do finish first...but everything comes with a price.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Minor league baseball is the land of dreamers, where young men endure months on the road, long bus rides, bad food, and constant pressure while they hone their craft and reach for the next rung up the ladder. Like the players on the field, the men and women who work for the teams put in long hours for low pay to be part of the game they love. It doesn't take Lane Hamilton long to understand the appeal. When he's fired for sleeping through an important meeting at the bank where he works, Lane hooks on as an operations assistant with the Durham Bulls. Every day at historic Durham Athletic Park brings something new, and despite the grueling hours, Lane's too busy ducking jealous co-workers and amped-up relief pitchers to ever get bored. Set in the same beloved old stadium where Bull Durham was filmed, The Greatest Show on Dirt provides a look at baseball from a different angle. Players come and go, but there would be no games without a front office to sell the tickets, groom the field, and open the gates to let the fans in. A former Bulls employee who later spent six years covering the minor leagues for Baseball America, James Bailey has crafted a realistic, yet often hilarious, account of a young man's indoctrination into life in the bush leagues. Reviewers have lauded the colorful cast of characters, from foul-mouthed, 12-year-old groundskeeper Spanky Paul to subtle middle-aged cougar Faith Andrews, who's looking to peddle more than t-shirts out of the team's souvenir shop. Ben Steelman of the Wilmington (N.C.) StarNews says, "Lane's co-workers are colorful enough to make Damon Runyan's characters look like the cast of a Henry James novel." And Tom Hoffarth of the Los Angeles Daily News says, "[I]t's not just believable, but is easy to imagine as being the starting point for a movie script--even with Bull Durham already a classic. Bailey doesn't use baseball locker-talk for shock value, but keeps the reader moving at the right pace, fully locked and loaded, trying to figure out how this crumbling old minor-league park will somehow expose the secret to life for at least one person who feels disconnected, but is willing to listen to see if it's speaking his language."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: KADEN is a retired drug dealer and former kingpin of the streets of Miami, Florida. He had created a legacy based on power, respect, wealth, and branding his name. Today, he’s the owner of a strip club, having left the world of drugs behind. Before stepping down from his throne, Kaden taught his younger cousin, Jordan, the game before ultimately allowing him to take over his kingdom. The two men, however, were polar opposites. Jordan was younger and more reckless, a treacherous guy with a ruthless streak. Kaden was much calmer, wiser and level-headed in the way he went around his business. Jordan‘s greatest flaw was failing to change his mentality and adapt to the role of being a boss. Instead, he remained rooted in the same hood mentality of a small-time player. Rather than being respected on the streets, he made enemies of some serious players. Kaden’s future, and that of his marriage, had become threatened both by Jordan’s out-of-control behavior and his own infidelities. Could he really start over and build a new life, leaving his past behind, or is the life he had lived destined to catch up with him and destroy everything? So much hangs in the balance as a brutal turf war heats up on the mean streets, where the one certainty is that only the strong and street-smart will survive.

Now alone and pregnant Marion has to decide her fate and the fate of the devil's child inside of her. After giving birth on her own she names the child Ann, and for the next 10 years Marion keeps her prisoner in the home. But the devil's child can only be controlled for so long, and before long Ann manages to kill her mother and gain her freedom.Ann has always known that she was different, special; her father came to her in visions and she began to do his work. Killing became her poison, and she was good at it, but everything was leading up to the day of her mating. It was then and only then she would know how special she really was.About the AuthorI was born in 1962 in London. My first eleven years were unbearable. I suffered appalling child abuse, mental, physical and sexual from both my parents. At the age of eleven I screamed out at school for help, and I thought my prayers had been answered when social services put a care-order on me to the age of seventeen. How naive I was. Life in care wasn't any better. It was during this time that my mental illness problems began to surface. At seventeen I went to live with foster parents, they are both sadly no longer with us, they taught me, showed me, gave me something I had never had, "love."A few years later a man came into my life, he loved me for who I was, and I fell deeply in love with him, and we were a few years later blessed with two healthy happy children. Times have been hard along the way; my bi-polar manic depression has always been around. I have two rules that I always try to follow, 1st never be angry with anyone, 2nd only take one-day at a time.

Book excerpt: Never assume things are the way they appear. Five Tuscaloosa police officers meet at a local bar to reflect and reminisce about wild shenanigans, heroic actions, and their most heartbreaking moments while celebrating twenty-five years of service of one of their own. This book was inspired by real-life events and the police officers who lived them. The story will keep you guessing until the spine-chilling end. See what readers are saying... “I just finished reading The Retirement, and wow. Just wow! It isn't often that the ending of a book stops me in my tracks and brings tears to my eye, but this one did. Well done from the first page to the last. I have sat with cops in bars just like the Top Shelf and swapped war stories just like these friends did, and their stories ring true. Well done, Mr. Robinson. I will be looking for more of your titles.” - Nick Russell (New York Times bestselling author) “If you want to know what it really feels like to be a police officer in a college town this is the book for you. As the wife of a retired officer I felt like I was sitting with my husband after he got off work and was winding down. I recognized some of the incidences in the book as similar to the ones my husband talked about (of course names were changed to protect the innocent or maybe not so innocent). The characters are authentic (I actually recognized some of them). The ending was so unexpected that I actually gasped when I read it! I cried through the last nineteen pages of the book. I strongly encourage you to give The Retirement a try, especially if you like fiction based on real life.” - Becky Brown (coupleofbeesread.com) “Great read, didn’t expect the ending. Got me there! I loved it! Would definitely recommend. Much respect to our men in blue.” - Nikki Malensky “I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read hundreds of books and I have this one in my top 5 of all time. I hope he writes many more in the future.” - Lee Mobley “It was cool to read a book based on my hometown and I definitely didn’t see the ending coming!” - Heather M Wyatt (Author of My Life Without Ranch)

Book excerpt: The word perspicacity is not only a favorite of author Dan Kerstein, it is his mantra as well. The simple definition of this word is acute mental awareness-the ability to be constantly aware of one's physical surroundings. Over the course of his life, Kerstein has learned that successful businesses are run by 'survivalists", people who can observe and understand what is going on in the 360-degree circle that surrounds them at any given time. That's perspicacity at its best. Unfortunately, Kerstein has had to deal with a gaggle of fools and know-it-alls throughout his career who have inspired the thoughts in I'm Retired: Now I Get Even on subjects such as the following: Entrepreneurship: The art of hiring and firing oneself on a regular basis Egos and intelligence: The 97% rule The twenty-first century's greatest oxymoron: Customer Service Sex, lies, and brownnosing: AKA, the truth about climbing the corporate ladder There was a long list of people Kerstein did not wish to thank for this book, but that didn't seem quite fair because they provided the cannon fodder that makes up most of the chapters. So instead, he thanks them for being stupid, ignorant, egotistical, maniacal, harmful, fatuous, indifferent, macabre, remorseless, and/or all-around jerks.

Judge me personally after you read the book, and ask yourself one question, which is this, what would you have done if you found yourself in similar circumstances? A lot of the content is funny—some hilarious, some very serious, and some very sad. I use some bad language only to illustrate frustration, disgust, despair, and temper. You will notice I used first names only. I can honestly say I have met and worked with lot of very honest and trustworthy people over the years, for which I feel very privileged and grateful.

I'm talking about the day-to-day emotions, feelings, projects, questions, anxieties... the ups and downs of this very important next step in one's life after some 25/30/35/40 years of formal work? Well, my "The Baby Boomers First-Hand/First-Year Guide to Retirement... 365 Days of Bliss (???!!!) or Diss (Not???!!!)" could provide some insight for those recently retired or contemplating retirement. This 365 day (from January 17, 2013 to January 17, 2014) daily journal allows the reader to follow along as I experience the chores, the life; the new budgeting, the wife the questions, the emotions; some answers and hopefully some solutions. "First-Hand" is an easy-to-read/fast page turner; a humorous collection of thoughts and stuff... it does not hit you over the head with heavy retirement questions regarding pensions or 401(k) requirements; or statistics such as inflation projections, investment facts, tax shelters, financial formulas, etc... My book is simply a personal essay of my first 365 days of retirement, featuring real names and real people. Included are personal pictures and anecdotes of my 2013 journey that sheds light on the everyday minutia of retired life. I self-published my first book "SQUARE SQUIRE & THE JOURNEY TO DREAMSTATE" in 2012. I have a completed children's short story collection "LongTALES for shortTAILS" currently being illustrated; and I have a young adult/short story collection "Word Food for Doods" ready for publishing. I am presently working on a novella about a jive/hipster dude cat called "Diddley Squatt."
