Book Synopsis Red Money for the Global South by : Max Trecker
Download or read book Red Money for the Global South written by Max Trecker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-02-20 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Red Money for the Global South explores the relationship of the East with the “new” South after decolonization, with a particular focus on the economic motives of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA) and other parties that were all striving for mutual cooperation. During the Cold War, the CMEA served as a forum for discussions on common policy initiatives inside the so-called “Eastern Bloc” and for international interactions. This text analyzes the economic relationship of the East with the “new” South through three main research questions. Firstly, what was the motivation for cooperation? Secondly, what insights can be derived from CMEA negotiations about intrabloc and East‒South relations alike? And finally, which mutual dependencies between East and South developed over time? The combination of analytical narrative and engagement with primary archival material from former CMEA states, and India as the most prestigious among the former European colonies, makes this text essential reading for students and instructors of Cold War history, Economic History, and international relations more generally.
Book Synopsis Application of coupled CFD-DEM simulation to separation process in combine harvester cleaning devices by : Christian Korn
Download or read book Application of coupled CFD-DEM simulation to separation process in combine harvester cleaning devices written by Christian Korn and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-01 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the application of the coupled CFD-DEM approach for simulating the separation of grain and material other than grain in combine harvester cleaning devices. Based on a literature study, it describes the most important influencing factors and presents a database for particle parameterization. It investigates the separation process in two steps with differing levels of process abstraction. The first step involves numerical separation in a vertically oscillating box with airflow, and in the context of a sensitivity study, investigates the effect of selected material, contact and operating parameters on the target variables’ separation time and grain purity. In the second step, the numerical separation process was performed in a 200 mm wide segment of a combine harvester cleaning device. The numerical results were then compared with experimental investigations in order to confirm the method’s applicability.

Book Synopsis Germany's Transient Pasts by : Rudy J. Koshar
Download or read book Germany's Transient Pasts written by Rudy J. Koshar and published by Univ of North Carolina Press. This book was released on 2000-11-09 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the course of the twentieth century, Germans have venerated and maintained a variety of historical buildings--from medieval fortresses and cathedrals to urban districts and nineteenth-century working-class housing. But the practice of historic preservation has sometimes proven controversial, as different groups of Germans have sought to use historical architecture to represent competing versions of their nation's history. Transient Pasts is the first book to examine the role that the historic preservation movement has played in German cultural history and memory from the end of the nineteenth century to the early 1970s. Focusing on key public debates over historic preservation, Rudy Koshar charts a trajectory of cultural politics in which historical architecture both facilitated and limited Germans' efforts to identify as a nation. He demonstrates that historical buildings and monuments have served as enduring symbols of national history in a country scarred by the traumas of two world wars, Nazism, the Holocaust, and political division. His findings challenge both the widely accepted argument that Germans have constantly repressed their past and the contention that Germany's intense public engagement with history since reunification is unprecedented.
