Here, as elsewhere, experience has been the guide, but a word of explanation may not be amiss. In the first place, the assumption that english-latin exercises are inherently more difficult than latin-english would seem to involve a fallacy. An english-latin exercise which is primarily an exercise on the practical use of forms, and which does not contain difficult and complicated syntax, presents to the pupil the same problems as a latin-english exercise - the problem of terminations.
