Book excerpt: The Bass Family Record is an ongoing genealogical research project aimed at collecting and correcting family records of the Bass family. Many people have contributed to this effort over the years in various forms. This book has been compiled and marketed in an effort to get this history into the hands of more family members. With the hope of generating additional interest in the research and preservation of these records. This, 370 page volume, reports the details of 2870 individuals, from 1785 - 2017.The primary focus of the research so far has been on the descendants of Wilson Bass, born in North Carolina about 1785. He moved to Covington County near Andalusia Alabama about 1820 and purchased land south of the town near what is now the Carolina Community. Many of his descendants still live in the area to this day. There are also a good number nearby in the surrounding areas of south Alabama and northwest Florida. The title Bass Family Record is a tribute to one of the first significant efforts based on this line of the Basses. Genola Bass Spence and Glynda Wilkinson Cupp assembled the foundation of this record, back in 1968. An update of that record was published in July of 2000. Both documents were titled Bass Family Record, and have been of tremendous value and help in producing this volume.Hopefully, you will enjoy this book and enjoy having it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The groundbreaking female pilot featured in the hit Broadway musical Come from Away tells her story in this high-flying and inspiring picture-book autobiography! When Beverley Bass was a young girl in the late 1950s, she told her parents she wanted to fly planes--and they told her that girls couldn't be pilots. Still, they encouraged her, and brought her to a nearby airport to watch the planes take off and land. After decades of refusing to take no for an answer, in 1986 Beverley became the first female pilot promoted to captain by American Airlines and led the first all-female crewed flight shortly thereafter. Her revolutionary career became even more newsworthy when she was forced to land in the remote town of Gander, Newfoundland, on September 11, 2001, due to US airspace closures. After several days there, she flew her crew and passengers safely home. Beverley's incredible life is now immortalized in the hit Broadway musical Come from Away. Here, discover how she went from an ambitious young girl gazing up at the sky to a groundbreaking pilot smiling down from the cockpit. "Inspiring and up, up, and away all the way."--Kirkus "An inspiring biography about one woman's determination to forge a new path."--Booklist
