Book Synopsis Nonmetalliferous Stratabound Ore Fields by : Milka K. de Brodtkorb
Download or read book Nonmetalliferous Stratabound Ore Fields written by Milka K. de Brodtkorb and published by Springer. This book was released on 1989-08-31 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series editor's foreword provides the opportunity to give the rationale for a series on the evolution of ore fields. In brief, it meets a need that I, an explorationist, perceived as I became involved in a multidisciplinary explo ration program in the late 1960s. We were looking for mines while prospecting at the ore-field scale. The practicalities demand that we know more about the ore field and that we do not just study individual deposits, the analogy being the three blind men who attempted to describe the elephant as they felt the trunk, ear, or leg. Two considerations in identifying ore fields are the different perception as one changes scale from orebody to ore field and the problem of stratigraphic classification and nomenclature in terms appropriate to metallogenesis. Two workers, Brock (1972) and Carey (1976), have been particularly con cerned with the different appreciation brought about by a change in scale.

Book Synopsis Precambrian Basins of India by : R. Mazumder
Download or read book Precambrian Basins of India written by R. Mazumder and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2015-04-02 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Memoir provides a comprehensive review of the Precambrian basins of the four Archaean nuclei of India (Dharwar, Bastar, Singhbhum and Aravalli-Bundelkhand), encompassing descriptions of the time-space distribution of sedimentary-volcanic successions, the interrelationship between tectonics and sedimentation, and basin histories. Studies of 22 basins within the framework of an international basin classification scheme deepen an understanding of the basin architecture especially for cratonic basins. Most Indian sedimentary successions formed as cratonic to extensional-margin rift and thermal-sag basins, some reflecting mantle plume movement, subcrustal heating or far-field stress. This Memoir shows that Phanerozoic plate-tectonic and sequence stratigraphic principles can be applied to the Precambrian basins of large Archaean provinces. The differences between the stratigraphic architecture of the Indian Precambrian and examples of Phanerozoic basin-fill successions elsewhere are ascribed to variable rates and intensities of the controls on accommodation and sediment supply, and changes inherent in the evolution of the hydrosphere-atmosphere and biosphere systems.
Book Synopsis Mineral Resources of Turkey by : Franco Pirajno
Download or read book Mineral Resources of Turkey written by Franco Pirajno and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-21 with total page 753 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book furnishes detailed information about Turkey's existing mineral resources, besides providing concepts and ideas which may help the search for potential mineral resources in the future. It is a first book in the English-language international literature on mineral resources of Turkey and it is aimed at economic geologists, mining engineers, and mining investors, as well as graduate and undergraduate students. This work focuses mainly on a range of mineral systems and related geological features throughout Turkey. Taking into account the lack of international literature on these resources, a considerable portion of the book explains the geological context of the region and the settings in which the mineral resources occur. The genetic characteristics of these mineral resources are emphasized and important information is also presented on their economic aspects. All chapter contributions are prepared by researchers and professional geologists.
