Book Synopsis On the Impedance Method for Measuring High Electron Density and Electron Collision Frequency in a Gaseous Plasma Column by : Denis M. Coffey
Download or read book On the Impedance Method for Measuring High Electron Density and Electron Collision Frequency in a Gaseous Plasma Column written by Denis M. Coffey and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of a microwave impedance method for measuring electron density and effective electron collision frequency in a plasma column is reviewed. It is evident from laboratory observations that surface polarization effects may be present in the impedance method. Such a consideration alters the form of the usual expression for the complex dielectric constant of an ionized gas. (Author).
Book Synopsis An Evaluation of an Important Advance in Network Synthesis Theory by : E. Folke Bolinder
Download or read book An Evaluation of an Important Advance in Network Synthesis Theory written by E. Folke Bolinder and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A discussion of a recent significant advance in network synthesis theory is presented. This 'breakthrough' was accomplished by D. Hazony of the Case Institute of Technology and by D. C. Youla of the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, who independently of each other developed methods for unifying the theory of two-port cascade synthesis. Both methods are based on Richards' theorem, and both introduce the gyrator artificually. Different methods of proof are used, however. A valuable 'cookbook recipe' was developed by Youla. Hazony managed to extend the method to n-ports. In all, this epoch-making achievement has resulted in an important, simple, and beautiful method of network synthesis. (Author).
Book Synopsis Feasible Control Computations Using Dynamic Programming by : Stephen J. Kahne
Download or read book Feasible Control Computations Using Dynamic Programming written by Stephen J. Kahne and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of Bellman's dynamic programming technique to realistic control problems has generally been precluded by excessive storage requirements inherent in the method. In this paper, the notion of state mobility is described and shown to be valuable in reducing certain classes of dynamic programming calculations to manageable size. The scheme requires one simple calculation at each stage of the process. IN many cases even this calculation may be omitted. It results in the reduction of the range of allowable state variables to be scanned. The amount of reduction varies from problem to problem. A simple example exhibits a fifty percent reduction. This corresponds to a fifty percent reduction in storage requirements for the problem. Reductions of one or two orders of magnitude appear possible for certain classes of problems.
Book Synopsis Forbidden Absorption-band Systems of N2 in the Vacuum-ultraviolet Region by : Y. Tanaka
Download or read book Forbidden Absorption-band Systems of N2 in the Vacuum-ultraviolet Region written by Y. Tanaka and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five systems of absorption bands of N2, were investigated in the 1070-1600-A region. A 2-m ad a 3-m vacuum spectrograph, both of normalincidence-type, were used in this work. A final designation of the upper electronic state must come from a rotational analysis, because the observed T00 of the state differed from that of the W state by approximately 40 cm( -1). The potential enejgy curves of the low-lying N2 states prepared by Mulliken are compared with those calculated by using the presently determined constants. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vibrational isotope shift of the nitrogen absorption bands has been studied in the 830-1000 angstrom region. A 3-meter normalincidence vacuum spectrograph was used with the helium continuum as background. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper explains the differences and the reasons for the differences which exist between the theory of the zone-transport system of continuous zone refining as presented by W. G. Pfann and T. Abe. The identity between the mathematical model used to describe the zone-transport system and one of the models used to describe the recently reported matter-transport system is noted. Nondimensional equations for the zone-transport system are presented and the difference between the limit of alpha in the zone-void and zonetransport systems, when L sub e = 0, is correlated. This book was released on 1965 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phycoerythrin, pigment-protein complex in photosynthetic organisms, plays a role in photosynthesis in transferring an energy abosrbed by itself to chlorophyll. Previous studies in this laboratory showed that the longest absorption band at 565 millimicrons responsible for fluorescence originates from the interaction between the pigment and SH-group of the protein in phycoerythrin. During the course of investigation on the effect of SH-blocking agent on energy transfer, it was found that modified phycoerythrin is released from cells treated with PCMB. This modified phycoerythrin possesses a single absorption band at 545 millimicrons, while native phycoerythrin shows three absorption bands at 500, 545, and 565 millimicrons. In the glutathione-treated modified phycoerythrin, the highly fluorescent 565 millimicrons chromophore was partially regenerated. This investigation indicates that native phycoerythrin is composed of two units and that modified phycoerythrin is one of them separated from the other containing the 500 millimicrons chromophore only. Book Synopsis Energy Momentum Conservation and Some of Its Consequences for the Classical Particle by : E. J. Post
Download or read book Energy Momentum Conservation and Some of Its Consequences for the Classical Particle written by E. J. Post and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanical energy and momentum (e-m) has an equivalent counterpart in electromagnetic energy and momentum (e-m) and vice versa if conservation is assumed for the sum of these two fundamental manifestations of e-m. The classical particle concept is reconsidered in the spirit of Kwal's emphasis on an invariant relation between the e-m tensor and the e-m vector. The notion of a mass-carrying particle is specified by introducing a concept of physical rigidity which permits a straight-forward definition of states of rest and motion of particles and their associated fields. It then follows that an optional electromagnetic interpretation of rest-mass applies to every particle-like object which in a rest-frame is surrounded by an electrostatic or a magnetostatic field (for example, (+) and ( - ) pion, neutron and anti-neutron). The conclusion also holds for particles characterized by a combination of an electric monopole and a magnetic dipole (for example, positron and electron), provided some simple symmetry requirements are met. The electromagnetic option for a neutral particle without a magnetic moment but with a rest mass (for example, pion and K meson) is that of a (temporarily) trapped standing wave. (Author).
