Book Synopsis The Awakening Imagination by : Michael D. O'Brien
Download or read book The Awakening Imagination written by Michael D. O'Brien and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-03 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a lecture Michael D. O'Brien gave at the Centre for Faith and Culture, Oxford, this essay traces the long history of mankind's creative imagination throughout millennia of expansion and growth-citing examples that range from cave painting to classical sculpture, the icon and manuscript illumination to film and contemporary literature. The author weaves together his under-standing of numerous significant works of art, philosophical insights, spiritual reflection, and personal stories, which, combined, offer a multi-dimensional vision of our origin and our future. Underlying it all is the question of Man's nature and what our creative powers reveal about our true identity as children of God. O'Brien proposes that a new iconography is waiting for us, one that will be built upon all that the historical imagination has given, but reinvigorated by a rejuvenated Christian consciousness. Humility alone will allow us to find again our proper place in the hierarchy of creation: "In submission to natural and supernatural law," he writes, "to the absolutes, in obedience and prayer, by opening our interior life and the intellectual life to the full authority of the Holy Spirit, we will germinate a little seed. And from it entire forests can spring and may yet cover the earth."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before The Law of Attraction there was Neville Goddard and his message about changing reality through the power of the imagination. The author of ten inspirational books, Goddard was a popular speaker on metaphysical themes. In his 1952 publication The Power of Awareness, he voiced many of the ideas that are now in the mainstream of contemporary self-help circles, including the concept that your thoughts control your destiny and that in order to change your current physical state you must first change your mind. His ten easy exercises help readers cultivate a positive attitude that makes all things possible. This edition features another of Goddard's empowering titles, Awakened Imagination, in which the author expounds upon his belief that Christ is within each of us and can help us achieve our desires through imaginative effort. Goddard illuminates his philosophy with quotations from Yeats, Blake, and the Bible as well as inspiring anecdotes of his personal experiences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Imagination," is a collection of lectures given by Neville Goddard on the power of Imagination. If you don't believe by now that your Imagination is the one and only reality also known as the cause of the outer world then you are in luck because in this book you will find a great and detailed explanation on why it is so, and the method of operation. This Book contains six lectures Titled: HOW TO USE YOUR IMAGINATION Now, this whole record is technique. I want to show you today how to put your wonderful imagination right into the feeling of your wish fulfilled and let it remain there and fall asleep in that state. And I promise you, from my own experience, you will realize the state in which you sleep - if you could actually feel yourself right into the situation of your fulfilled desire and continue therein until you fall asleep. MENTAL DIETS Talking to oneself is a habit everyone indulges in. We could no more stop talking to ourselves than we could stop eating and drinking. All that we can do is control the nature and the direction of our inner conversations. Most of us are totally unaware of the fact that our inner conversations are the causes of the circumstance of our life. AWAKENED IMAGINATION It may startle you to identify the central figure of the Gospels as human imagination, but I am quite sure before the series is over, you will be convinced that this what the ancients intended that we should know, but man has misread the Gospels as history and biography and cosmology, and so completely has gone asleep as to the power within himself. IMAGINATION So, God in man is man's own wonderful human Imagination. It's difficult for man to make the adjustment, having been trained to turn on the outside to some god that he worships. IMAGINATION FULFILLS ITSELF I say imagination creates reality, and if this premise is true then imagination fulfills itself in what your life becomes. Although I have changed the words, what I am saying is not new. Scripture says it in this manner: "Whatsoever you desire, believe you have received it and you will."THE FOUNDATION STONE - IMAGINATION We believe that man can create anything he desires. We believe the Universe is infinite response and the one who causes it is the individual perceiver. Nothing is independent of your perception of it. We are so interwoven we are part of the machine, but as we awake we detach ourselves from this machine and make life as we wish it to be.
Download or read book Endless Path written by Rafe Martin and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ***WINNER, 2011 Storytelling World Resource Award – Best Storytelling Collection The jataka tales—stories of the Buddha’s past lives (in both human and animal form)—were first said to have been told by the Buddha himself 2,500 years ago. Five hundred and fifty jataka tales comprise part of the oldest Buddhist text, the Pali Canon. From this wealth of folklore, award-winning author and storyteller Rafe Martin has chosen ten tales that illustrate the ideals of the Buddhist paramitas, or “perfections” of character: giving, morality, forbearance, vitality, focused meditation, wisdom, compassionate skillful means, resolve, strength, and knowledge. Artist and designer Richard Wehrman helps bring the spirit of these stories alive with rich illustrations that open each chapter. Endless Path presents these ancient stories, usually reduced to children’s tales in the West, for adults, reconnecting modern seekers with the more imaginative roots of Buddhism. The jatakas help readers see their own lives, their failures and renewed efforts, in the same light as the challenges the Buddha faced—not as obstacles but as opportunities for developing character and self-understanding. Endless Path demonstrates the relevance of these tales to Buddhist lay practitioners today, as well as to those more broadly interested in Buddhist teaching and the ancient art of storytelling.

Download or read book Neville Goddard written by Neville Goddard and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-05-26 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neville Goddard (Born February, 15, 1905 in Barbados) was known as one of the most influential teachers in the New Thought movement for many years. He gave hundreds of lectures all over the United States and even had his own TV show in Los Angeles in the 50's! His philosophy states that we create our reality by our thoughts or by the human imagination. "Chance or accident is not responsible for the things that happen to you, nor is predestined fate the author of your fortune or misfortune. Your subconscious impressions determine the conditions of your world. The subconscious is not selective; it is impersonal and no respecter of persons. The subconscious is not concerned with the truth or falsity of your feeling. It always accepts as true that which you feel to be true. Feeling is the assent of the subconscious to the truth of that which is declared to be true. Because of this quality of the subconscious there is nothing impossible to man. Whatever the mind of man can conceive and feel as true, the subconscious can and must objectify. Your feelings create the pattern from which your world is fashioned, and a change of feeling is a change of pattern."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Pinocchio to The Chronicles of Narnia to Charlotte's Web, classic children's tales have shaped generations of young people. In recent years, homeschoolers and new classical schools have put these masterpieces of children's literature at the center of their curricula. And these stories continue to be embraced by parents, students, and educators alike. In Tending the Heart of Virtue, Vigen Guroian illuminates the power of classic tales and their impact on the moral imagination. He demonstrates how these stories teach the virtues through vivid depictions of the struggle between good and evil, while he also unveils components of the good, the true, and the beautiful in plot and character. With clarity and elegance, Guroian reads deeply into the classic stories. He demonstrates how these stories challenge and enliven the moral imaginations of children. And he shows the reader how to get "inside" of classic stories and communicate their lessons to the child. For more than two decades Tending the Heart of Virtue has been embraced by parents, guardians, and teachers for whom the stories it discusses are not only beloved classics but repositories of moral wisdom. This new revised edition includes three new chapters and an expanded annotated bibliography in which Guroian interprets such stories as Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling, the Grimms' Cinderella, and John Ruskin's The King of the Golden River.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times Best-selling Author Bob Proctor praises Imagination Creates Reality, "My friend Daniel Lusko is a director in Hollywood, and his life is proof his imagination is well exercised. Daniel's book does an excellent job of showing us how to fire up our imagination and channel it's magnificent creative power toward the good we desire. This book should be kept on hand and reviewed again and again. It is absolutely power-packed with unfailing principles and experiences of the imagination that will ignite your mind and change your life." Richard Hawkes, Chief Executive for Prince Charles of Wales at Buckingham Palace says, "Imagination Creates Reality is a truly inspiring read that really provokes the reader to think and believe in a different and creative way. As an experienced social sector Chief Executive I am always looking for different ways to both inspire colleagues and also to encourage young people to believe that they can change the world for the better. I will be strongly recommending this book to all of them as it will help them stretch their imagination way beyond the artificial boundaries we can all set up." The power of the imagination is a phrase often relevant to only a select few who are considered creative people. Why are some people creative and others are not? Is the imagination something that is available only to inventors and artists? There is so much more to the imagination that is relevant to every single person on the planet, and whether consciously or unconsciously, something that each one of us are influenced by every single moment of our lives. With this book, my aim is to expand the awareness and skill of the reader's extraordinary power to use their imagination to create the life of their dreams that all of mankind will benefit from. -Daniel Lusko
