Book excerpt: When myths become real, danger stalks White Haven. The Crossroads Circus has a reputation for bringing myths to life, but it also seems that where the circus goes, death follows. When the circus sets up on the castle grounds, Newton asks Avery and the witches to investigate. This proves trickier than they expected when an unexpected encounter finds Avery bound to a power she can’t control. Strange magic is making the myths a little too real. As Avery grows weaker, and with time running out, Caspian is only too willing to help, and although Alex hates relying on him, he’ll do anything to save Avery. Shadow has her own agenda. When a mysterious stranger comes to town with a proposition, will she betray them when they need her most? The witches might stand a chance, if they can get the Raven King and Green Man on their side. Without them they’ll lose everything - and Avery will lose her life. If you love witches and magic, and lots of myth and mystery, you’ll love the sixth book in the White Haven Witches series. Grab your copy of Crossroads Magic now! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1960s, the Second Vatican Council enacted the most sweeping changes the Catholic Church had seen in centuries. In readable and compelling prose, Mark S. Massa tells the story of the cultural war these changes ignited in the United States - a war that is still being waged today. Suddenly, one Sunday, the mass as the faithful had always known it was different, and so was the Church they had believed was timeless and unchanging. Once the Church opened the door to change, Massa argues, it could not be closed again. Skirmishes broke out over the proper way to worship. Soon, Catholics were bitterly divided over birth control, abortion, celibacy, female priests, and the authority of the Church itself. As he narrates these turbulent events, Massa takes us beyond stereotypes of liberals and conservatives, offering new insights into the last fifty years of American Catholicism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesuits have contributed to the life and theological development of the Church for many generations - culminating in Pope Francis, the first Jesuit Pope. Ignatius Loyola called his men and all those inspired by the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises to a certain ecclesial disposition a way of thinking, judging and feeling with the Church. Gill Goulding discusses the key texts from St Ignatius' life and work to identify the Ignatian ecclesial disposition that is centered on Christ. It is fuelled by a Trinitarian horizon, and with a clear emphasis on the dignity of every human person. Golding introduces and examines key historical figures such as St Pierre Favre and Mary Ward; as well as two of the major 20th century theologians - Henri de Lubac and Avery Dulles. Finally, Goulding highlights the Ignatian ecclesial disposition in the highest authority of the contemporary Roman Catholic Church, in the background to the pontificates of John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis, focusing on the centrality of Christ and the work of the New Evangelization. This book raises the key questions of the relationship between Christ and the Church as the body of Christ. It indicates the importance of maintaining a Trinitarian horizon in theological vision and raises the pertinent if difficult question of the meaning of Christian obedience. Goulding also underlines the importance of the integration of spirituality and theology which has ramifications for all Christian denominations and possibilities for ongoing inter-faith dialogue.

This book was released on 2018-07-18 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Georgia 4th Cavalry Regiment (AveryÕs) was formed with eleven companies in January, 1863, using Avery's 23rd Georgia Cavalry Battalion as its nucleus. It served for a time with the Conscript Department in Tennessee, then was assigned to J.J. Morrison's, C.C. Crews', and Iverson's Brigade. The regiment participated in the Chickamauga, Knoxville, and Atlanta Campaigns, skirmished in Northern Georgia and East Tennessee, and took part in the defense of Savannah. In January, 1865, the unit was reorganized and called the 12th Cavalry. It went on to fight in the Carolinas and surrendered with the Army of Tennessee. Research of this unit is complicated by the fact that there was another 4th Cavalry (ClinchÕs). No roster of the 23rd Cavalry Battalion or the 4th Cavalry (AveryÕs) has been found. The records are all filed in the state archive microfilm as the GA 12th Cavalry Regiment.

Book excerpt: This value-priced collection from a USA TODAY bestselling author features southern small-town romances and heartwarming characters that “have such a quirky sweetness and…always ring true” (New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard). Need an escape from the fast lane? Join USA TODAY bestselling author Alicia Hunter Pace in small town Merritt, Alabama, where life, laughter, and love are always waiting just around the corner. Misbehaving in Merritt: Dr. Maxwell Ellis Buchanan IV’s privileged life tailspins out of control when too many speeding tickets mean he must volunteer his time at Merritt’s local arts center. Even worse? He’ll report to Audrey Evans, a former ESPN reporter, who just flat out turned him down for a date. She seeks the peace and quiet of an Alabama small town, and arrogant golden boys don’t fit that bill. Working side by side, Max and Audrey find surprising common ground and a chemistry that leaves them breathless—but are they barking up the wrong tree? Misunderstood in Merritt: As personal assistant to the rich and famous Beauford brothers, Sammy Anderson is content to drift through life, living vicariously through his employers’ fame—until he meets interior design assistant Pam Carson. But when she and Sammy join forces to make sure Jackson Beauford’s benefit concert goes off without a hitch, she is convinced her ordinary existence could never be enough to make him give up his sparkling life in Beauford. It’s up to Sammy to make Pam see that this connection they share is special so they can finally step into the spotlight to find their own fairy tale. Mistletoed in Merritt: Rich boy Bennett Pontellier Watkins and blue collar Hélène-Louise Soileau had a secret, youthful love affair—until their mothers found out and set them on separate paths. Now eight years later, their lives cross again when Hélène-Louise agrees to teach a series of workshops at the Cultural Arts Center in Merritt, where Bennett is the director. The spark is still there, but old patterns begin to re-emerge, and it’s clear that Bennett still wants to hide their relationship from his family. Is Hélène-Louise willing to give up everything she’s built for herself for a man who may never see beyond her social status? Sensuality Level: Sensual
