Book excerpt: Welcome to a world where the line between human and alien is blurred. The electrical apocalypse that destroyed Earth was caused by beings who may look like us on the outside, but their neurodiversity sets them apart. Sensually sensitive, logical, and with a unique sense of morality, these aliens have learned to hide their true selves to blend in with humanity. But for one gender-diverse Aut, blending in may no longer be an option. As the survival of his kind hangs in the balance, he must choose between their existence and the life of a human. Meanwhile, a fierce defender must protect their trailer in the chaotic days following the apocalypse. A brilliant inventor, who communicates through echolalia, is accused of murder but what he's hiding could either save his people or lead them to destruction. A nonverbal father struggles to find his daughter amid the chaos, while also fighting to maintain control of his mind. And a newspaper photographer stumbles upon a shocking discovery hidden among a field of sunflowers, revealing secrets from his tribe's past. These are just some of the captivating stories that make up the neurodiverse science fiction Auts Series. Each one filled with magic, wonder, and the struggle to survive in a world not made for them. Download or read book Infranomics written by Adrian V. Gheorghe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-03 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a rough entry into the interdisciplinary field of Infranomics. It enables better decision making in an increasing ambiguous, complex, emergent, interdependent, and uncertain world where we attempt to anticipate modern society trends and patterns in order to react appropriately. However, as with any emerging discipline, much research is needed at the applications and conceptual level. The applications level may require development and testing of methods, tools, and techniques to enable analysis and decision-making in ambiguous, complex, emergent, interdependent, and uncertain conditions while the conceptual level may require taping into driving philosophies, theories, and methodologies that form the basis for Infranomics. Striking the right balance between applications and conceptual foundation (theory) requires rigorous research. This book provides a springboard for robust discussions on applications, theory, and transformation of current thinking to better deal with modern society’s problematic issues using Infranomics.

Book Synopsis China and the Global Business Revolution by : P. Nolan
Download or read book China and the Global Business Revolution written by P. Nolan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2001-07-26 with total page 1113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China has used industrial policies to try to build large corporations that can challenge those based in more advanced countries. By the late 1990s the operational mechanism of China's large firms had seen large advances. Simultaneously, a revolution has taken place in global business systems, and China's large firms are even further behind the global leaders than when they began their reforms. The WTO will require China to operate rapidly on the 'global playing field' in competition with the world's leading corporations, and this increased gap presents a deep challenge for China's business and political leaders. Peter Nolan presents here the first in-depth case studies of China's large corporations under economic reform, combined with systematic benchmarking of these firms against the world's leading corporations. The book is an unrivalled resource of information on Chinese businesses, and also leads the reader to consider the impact of China's response to its current challenges not only on China itself, but on the wider global economy.

Book Synopsis The American and Japanese Auto Industries in Transition by : Robert Cole
Download or read book The American and Japanese Auto Industries in Transition written by Robert Cole and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2020-08-06 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report was prepared for the Policy Board by the U.S. and Japanese research staffs of the Joint U.S.–Japan Automotive Study under the general direction of Professors Paul W. McCracken and Keichi Oshima, with research operations organized and coordinated by Robert E. Cole on the U.S. side, in close communication with the Taizo Yakushiji on the Japanese side. [preface] In view of the importance of stable, long-term economic relationships between Japan and the United States, automotive issues have to be dealt with in ways consistent with the joint prosperity of both countries. Furthermore, the current economic friction has the potential to adversely affect future political relationships. Indeed, under conditions of economic stagnation, major economic issues inevitably become political issues. With these considerations in mind, the Joint U.S.–Japan Automotive Study project was started in September 1981 to determine the conditions that will allow for the prosperous coexistence of the respective automobile industries. During this two-year study, we have identified four driving forces that will play a major role in determining the future course of the automotive industry of both countries. These are: (1) consumers’ demands and aspirations vis-à-vis automobiles; (2) flexible manufacturing systems (FMS); (3) rapidly evolving technology; and (4) the internationalization of the automotive industry.
